Itunes will not open until I reboot

I'm running a Windows 7 64 bit computer. My music is installed on an external harddrive. Itunes will not open until I reboot my computer. I admit I have a large collection of music but my computer is running 8 gigs of DDR3 ram and a AMD Athlon II x4 630 processor. This should be more than enough to open my music collection. I don't seem to have any problems with any of my other programs. ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

1. Check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
2.  Go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
3. Rename file "APSDaemon.exe' into "APSDaemon1.exe" from this location:
32bit Windows  C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
64bit Windows  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
(Take note that this is a temporary fix until Apple comes up with an update to resolve.  This will also disable the capability of WIFI SYNC)

  • ITunes Will Not Open Until Restart

Sometimes iTunes doesn't start (after docking or after double clicking). I know if I restart that it will work fine, but don't want to have to restart just to load the application. Is it a cache issue or is it possible that another file is running in the background that is preventing it from loading?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried the following option also?:
    - Close the frozen itunes using task manager
    - In task manager go to the 'process' tab
    - Find and select 'APSDaemon.exe'
    - Click 'end process' then close the task manager
    - Re-open iTunes.

  • Just installed security update 2014-002, now Itunes will not open. Have rstrated but no change, need help to fix, please

Just installed security update 2014-002, now Itunes will not open, I have rebooted twice with no effect, I don't know what else to do to get my itunes back. Need help please

Believe I've firxed my problem, at least, ITunes is now working again. I followed the information provided from a couple of posts on this thread, (1) re restarting with command-s held down; did it twice, made no differerence; (2) manually re-installed the Security update; no difference; each time restarting, no effect; (3) shutdown the computer; I did for 35 minutes, upon restart, ITunes is back to normal, seems to be working fine. Turning the computer off must clear the cache?

  • Firefox works fine until after lunch. Then it will not open, unless I reboot. Am at work, & I shouldnt have to do that, NEED a fix.

Everyday its the same thing. By midafternoon, Firefox will not open unless I reboot. I am at work, and have too many things open all day to stop and reboot for a browser, when I also have IE. I prefer Firefox, it is set as my default, and have many passwords saved there that are not saved in IE. Surely there is a fix for this? I have removed it, downloaded it again, followed other suggestions from your site, but still have the same problem. If I leave a window open all day long, it will still work for me, and thats what I try to do. However, invariably, there will come that accidental second that I hit the red X at the top and totally regret it! Please help!

I had tried this before, but went ahead and tried this again.
I clicked on "reset Firefox". Firefox closed, but did not come back up. When I tried to open it again, I did receive a message that said Firefox is running but is not responding, that I couldn't open another window without stopping the processes on the other page.
I never got a window that showed me the information that was imported, or a place to click finish.
Since I don't believe this completed, I don't believe my problem will be solved.

  • Itunes will not open on win 7 pc after oct update?

I am running a win7 pc-64bit os and itunes will not open since I updated it in Oct. I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the itunes s/w several times. I have tried without a firewall and with anti-virus programs disconnected. I do not get an error message. Itunes launches with a blank screen and the busy "spinner" spins until I reboot. Anybody with a similar problem or a solu

I don't know if this will help you  but I just went through this. After three weeks of thinking it was my firewall and making all the adjustments suggested by apple, I discovered it was my Net Nanny software that was blocking my way. I had one character wrong in the accepted lists on websites and so it looked right to me when I checked. It wasn't until I completely uninstalled the software and reinstalled, and re-entered all my lists that I realized the error. Now it is working great. So you may want to check your list of approved websites VERY carefully or re-enter them on you firewall software or any content blocking software you may have.
    Hope that helps.

  • The iphoto and itunes will not open please help

on my Mac G5 the iphoto and itunes will not open can anyone help

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Then, hold the Option key down when trying to open iPhoto, does it ask where it's Library is? Or what exactly happens?

  • ITunes will not open on my mini iPad and then crashes

I have a mini iPad that I bought a year ago and have not had any problems till today, my iTunes will not open and then it crashes, all my other apps work exept for itunes and the music app, can someone help in this matter.
    Eileen60

Try closing the iTunes store and Music app via the iPad's multitasking bar and see if they work when you re-open them : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the iTunes and Music app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close them (you could also close other apps as they might be draining the battery), and click the home button to close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • HT201413 suddenly itunes will not open and I get a message that the "Data Execution Prevention" is blocking itunes from opening....why????

itunes will not open and I get a message that the "Data Execution Prevention (DEP)" feature in Windows is preventing it from opening. (this is after I've been using itunes for years???? If I try to manually deselect itunes from the DEP filter, of course I get a message that itunes cannot operate without the DEP active...another Catch 22 from the evil program designers....

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Itunes will not open error message- APSDaemon.exe system error

Running windows 7 never had a problem with iTunes until I tried to downlaod update yesterday...iTunes will not open and have error message 'MSVCR80.dll  APSDaemon.exe system error......
How do I fix itunes and and the system error?   Thanks

Murray3703, only one other time did this happen to me.  It was over 6 years back when I had an iPod Nano and after doing the reinstallation, it wiped out all of the content and applications and corrupted by Nano to the point Apple said it could not be fixed.  I had no other things corrupted on my laptop.  So, I know it was not a virus.
I have tried fixing the problem with redownloading and "repairing" the problem but, it did not work.  Since the Nano incident, I am somewhat reluctant to do this for fear that I will loose all of my content and paid applications to apple?  I also have Windows 7.
Did you have any issues with uninstalling and reinstalling? Thanks.

  • Itunes will not open up

Itunes will not open up after I've clicked all icons on desktop, start menu, and on taskbar? Any help is greatly appreciated

I am having the same problems as the original poster. As of 2 days ago itunes will no longer open.
    I have:
    Run virus scan
    Spyware/malware scan
Reinstalled itunes (I don't even know how many times)
    Reinstalled my internet securty program
Turned off the firewall to try to run it
Go into the firewall and created rules for it (and found out it was alreadya llowed)
Gone into the start-up programs and run the computer on basics etc.)
Run the computer in safe mode.
Tried to open the program by clicking on a music file to open the player.
Clicked on the .exe file directly in the file location.
Tried installed an older version of itunes.
    Resintalled quicktime separetly.
And I don't even know what else... oh and I have run nortons registry cleaner and performed disc optimization.
This is really driving me crazy...
Every so often after 20 minutes the program will open and then freeze but this has happened - twice.
And when you click to open the program it initializes it in processes but never opens the application.
I have been trying to figure this out and seriously am hating this computer right now.
Nothing on my computer had changed. Oh I did do a system restore to see if that would work... and no that did not.
Windows has not updated recently and itunes had updated over 2 weeks ago and had been working since until 2 days ago.
Oh- and I've created a another user account to try to run itunes and it does the same thing there.

  • ITunes will not open after updating

Ever since the update to 7.1.1 iTunes will not open.
I get a pop-up window that says iTunes has stopped working.
I have followed Apple's instructions for Vista about uninstalling all Apple products. I have done this 8+ times and I am at a total loss. I am a webmaster and Sr. Sys. Admin for a software company, so it's not like I don't have experience with computer/software issues.
When I look at the Windows application log. I have this error:
Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 7.7.1.11, time stamp
    0x4890a5ee, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time
stamp 0x4791a76d, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000254d8,
process id 0xf44, application start time 0x01c8fb2e587a39a9.
This started happening after I updated.
No other issues with any other programs. Quicktime will start up and run.

I hear you. My itunes is fubared and Apple and ALL the articles they send do NO good. I have emailed Apple many times and nothing helps.
Whatever they changed with version 7.1 messed up itunes and you can't go back.
I have emailed Apple asking them if I can delete my itunes directory and any references to itunes and NOT lose my 10K songs. They havent responded to that email and my guess is that it will delete it. But Im not going to risk losing my library until I know for sure !
Im in the same boat you are, I dont want to lose my library either. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND NOW !!
anyway this is a pain in the *** but itunes(windows) will open this way
    UNTIL APPLE FIXES THIS !
    1.boot up windows
2.right click on your START button
3.go to C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes (my machine is a Dell with Vista)
4.go to the itunes directory C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC INFO
5.delete BOTH files SC info.sidb AND SC info.sibb
6.launch itunes, it should open, mine did.
    7. if you have any purchased songs from the istore, log-in with your user name/password.
THIS WORKED FOR ME BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR ITUNES OPEN, IF YOU CLOSE IT OUT, YOU WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THE PROCESS AGAIN. (at least I did)
    GOOD LUCK !!

  • ITunes will NOT open since updates.

I dont know what it's problem is but im getting sick of it.
iTunes will not open no matter how many times I click it. I get the little circle loading icon for about 1 second then nothing happens.
I have uninstalled and re-instaled and it's still the same.
I have rebooted my laptop a thousand times and it's still the same.
I have uninstalled EVERYTHING apple related and reinstalled... guess what, still the same.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? -- Did they manage to overcome it?
Normally I wouldnt care but because its Apple, everything goes through iTunes so when it doesnt want to work -- Nothing else will work.
It just doesnt seem to want to boot up.
I'd appreciate your help in this.
    Many thanks.

No message just a momentary flicker as it  attemped to open.
When I plug in Iphone I can download photos, that is all
