ITunes will not open/user agreement flashes

Hi ... my name is Jen. My husband bought me the iPod Video 30GB for Christmas. Last night at 9pm I put the cd that came with the iPod into my computer to install iPod/iTunes/QuickTime. After I installed it, iTunes would not open. So, I found this website ... found a similar topic ... I uninstalled iTunes, etc ... I downloaded and ran 4 programs that were suggested in the other topic ... Ad-Aware, Spybot, ewido and AVG Free ... I ran all 4 of them (which took 5 hours total) ... they all found lots of crap to get rid of ... which I did. Anyway, I installed iPod/iTunes again this morning ... and the same thing is happening ... I double click iTunes ... the user agreement flashed very briefly and then ... nothing! I am so frustrated!
I have also tried to right click iTunes and clicked Run As ... and selected "The following user" ... but everytime I try that ... this message comes up:
Unable to log on:
Logon failure:
unknown user name or bad password ...
Any help would be so, so (insert 100 more so's) appreciated.
Thank you, Jen

Apple customer service *****. I've called them 2 times, because I have the same problem as everyone else here. I waited 25 minutes before I even got to talk to someone, and they couldn't even fix my problem. I told the guy I had re-installed iTunes like 50 times, but he made me do it again anyway. The best part is after he totally proved he was an idiot, he convinced me he was going to send me an e-mail that would walk me through how to fix it. This happened twice and neither of the technicians sent me an e-mail. I even told one guy twice what my e-mail is. For everyone out there that has the same problem as I do, I feel your frustration. Apple has got to respond to this issue because no one seems to know how to fix it. If anyone has any information please e-mail me at [email protected], or post it here. Also, if you were curious I have Service Pack 2 for windows and all of my firewalls are up-to-date.

Itunes will not open, it just brings up a user account window which if ok alters shortcuts?

I have followed instructions found elsewhere to do the following:
•“C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe” -remove (Note: delete the quotes displayed here and type again using keyboard)
•Navigate to the following folder in Windows Explorer: C:\Program Files\Bonjour
•Rename the mdnsNSP.dll file in that folder to mdnsNSP.old
    •Restart your computer
•Delete the the Program Files\Bonjour folder
All successful, now there is nothing that has anything to do with iTunes , Quictime, Apple Software Update, Bonjuor,...etc on my machine, now what do I install so I can get iTunes to work on Win 7 x 64 bit edition... ?

  • My Itunes will not open, please help

I am running version 10.7.0.21 - since upgrade itunes will not open.  I have visited the support site and done many things to get this working - taken hours of my time I do not have, including setting up a new user and same result.
My PC is running Windows 7.  I need my itunes as I have 4 ipods and 3 iphones - I need to back up a phone as I have just upgraded,
One error I seem to have caught is as follows:

  • HT201413 suddenly itunes will not open and I get a message that the "Data Execution Prevention" is blocking itunes from opening....why????

itunes will not open and I get a message that the "Data Execution Prevention (DEP)" feature in Windows is preventing it from opening. (this is after I've been using itunes for years???? If I try to manually deselect itunes from the DEP filter, of course I get a message that itunes cannot operate without the DEP active...another Catch 22 from the evil program designers....

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • ITunes will not open AND iTunes.exe will not LEAVE Task Manager

    Hello,
I am also having the same issue with everyone else in that iTunes will not open. This happened to me about two weeks ago and I uninstalled and reinstalled the version that came with my iPod. I figured that after a couple of weeks Apple would have figured out the glitch and fixed it. Wrong. B was asking another user if iTunes.exe was appearing and then disappearing in the Task Manager. I am having the oposite issue in that I cannot End Task in the Task Manager on iTunes.exe. What is up? Can anyone help me? Thanks for the support!

hi bummed! (you do realise that you're stuck with that alias for the forseeable future, don't you?)

hmmm. if that's going on, then we'd better check up on these two possibilities first:

  • HT1199 Newer version of iTunes will not open.  My music is gone.  How can I get the older version back?

My "newer version" of itunes will not open.  How can I either get it to open or get the older version which worked fine?

Restore the backup before you installed.
If you didn't make a backup, at very minimum make sure your Music library isn't compromised by locating the folder you selected the music to be in (usually in Users -> yourname -> Music) and make sure there are several MB of data there by clicking once on the folder, and selecting Get Info from the File menu in the Finder.
If you can't find it, try to locate parts of track names with Find Any File.
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
then determine which parent file of the .mp3 or .mpa files you have contains all of the music files by getting info under each previous folder in the folder tree.
Once you determine which folder contains all your music, back it up using the Finder, or backup the entire hard drive using cloning software at least to two different drives or two complete copies on DVDs:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
You'll then want to erase and install 10.6 from the system installer you used to put 10.6 on your Mac, and run the combo 10.6.8 updater and apply the necessary security updates:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3261
Then you can install older versions of iTunes for the Mac from here, once you determine which version is compatible with 10.6.8 that you liked before by first checking which version is compatible with what you need:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes_version_history
Once you know that, if you can't find it with Google, let us know and maybe one of us can help. Lastly reload your music in your music folder, and your other applications.

iTunes will not open. Process spindump is eating up my cpu. Beachball of death.

    I deleted...

I reinstalled 8.0.1 and iTunes will still not open. Not even the iTunes menu bar appears.
Rinse and repeat previous steps but this time I install iTunes 7.7.1
I thought it was going to work because an EULA appeared. I clicked OK. iTunes menu bar appeared this time but only the menu items "iTunes and Help". Still will not open to the point of usuability.
I can't even try to download iTunes 7.6 (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes76.html) because it demands me to download iTunes 8.
    What gives????

    OMG it's happening again.

  • Itunes will not open up

Itunes will not open up after I've clicked all icons on desktop, start menu, and on taskbar? Any help is greatly appreciated

I am having the same problems as the original poster. As of 2 days ago itunes will no longer open.
    I have:
    Run virus scan
    Spyware/malware scan
Reinstalled itunes (I don't even know how many times)
    Reinstalled my internet securty program
Turned off the firewall to try to run it
Go into the firewall and created rules for it (and found out it was alreadya llowed)
Gone into the start-up programs and run the computer on basics etc.)
Run the computer in safe mode.
Tried to open the program by clicking on a music file to open the player.
Clicked on the .exe file directly in the file location.
Tried installed an older version of itunes.
    Resintalled quicktime separetly.
And I don't even know what else... oh and I have run nortons registry cleaner and performed disc optimization.
This is really driving me crazy...
Every so often after 20 minutes the program will open and then freeze but this has happened - twice.
And when you click to open the program it initializes it in processes but never opens the application.
I have been trying to figure this out and seriously am hating this computer right now.
Nothing on my computer had changed. Oh I did do a system restore to see if that would work... and no that did not.
Windows has not updated recently and itunes had updated over 2 weeks ago and had been working since until 2 days ago.
Oh- and I've created a another user account to try to run itunes and it does the same thing there.

  • ITunes will not open after updating

Ever since the update to 7.1.1 iTunes will not open.
I get a pop-up window that says iTunes has stopped working.
I have followed Apple's instructions for Vista about uninstalling all Apple products. I have done this 8+ times and I am at a total loss. I am a webmaster and Sr. Sys. Admin for a software company, so it's not like I don't have experience with computer/software issues.
When I look at the Windows application log. I have this error:
Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 7.7.1.11, time stamp
    0x4890a5ee, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time
stamp 0x4791a76d, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000254d8,
process id 0xf44, application start time 0x01c8fb2e587a39a9.
This started happening after I updated.
No other issues with any other programs. Quicktime will start up and run.

I hear you. My itunes is fubared and Apple and ALL the articles they send do NO good. I have emailed Apple many times and nothing helps.
Whatever they changed with version 7.1 messed up itunes and you can't go back.
I have emailed Apple asking them if I can delete my itunes directory and any references to itunes and NOT lose my 10K songs. They havent responded to that email and my guess is that it will delete it. But Im not going to risk losing my library until I know for sure !
Im in the same boat you are, I dont want to lose my library either. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND NOW !!
anyway this is a pain in the *** but itunes(windows) will open this way
    UNTIL APPLE FIXES THIS !
    1.boot up windows
2.right click on your START button
3.go to C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes (my machine is a Dell with Vista)
4.go to the itunes directory C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC INFO
5.delete BOTH files SC info.sidb AND SC info.sibb
6.launch itunes, it should open, mine did.
    7. if you have any purchased songs from the istore, log-in with your user name/password.
THIS WORKED FOR ME BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR ITUNES OPEN, IF YOU CLOSE IT OUT, YOU WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THE PROCESS AGAIN. (at least I did)
    GOOD LUCK !!
