Itunes will not recognize ipad mini

Itunes will recognize and sync with my iphone, but will not recognize and sync with my ipad mini.

Did you just recently update iTunes? And are you using windows?
If so, try going into the control panel, add/remove programs, uninstall iTunes, apple mobile device support and apple application support. Then download and reinstall iTunes and see if that works.
If you're using a mac then it may be something else.

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke. If it hasn't been, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

IPhoto will not recognize iPad mini

I have an iPad mini running iOS 6.1.3. I need to move pictures from that iPad to an iMac running OSx 10.9.1 and iPhoto 9.5.1. iPhoto on the iMac is not recognizing the iPad. iTunes does recognize it though. I have tried repairing permissions, as well as restarting both the iMac and the iPad. The iPad does have photo stream turned on as well as shared photo streams. I can not turn these options off or I will lose all my picture. Is there another way to get the photos off of the iPad? or Is there another way that I can get iPhoto to recognize the iPad?

Verify that there is a photo available to be imported:Save a screenshot by pressing the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time (the screen should flash briefly). Manually open your photo-management software to determine if this software can recognize the device and import photos.
Try using the photo-management software built in to your computer's operating system:
Mac OS X: Open Image Capture (located in the Applications folder).
Check for software updates to your photo-management software.
Verify that iTunes and your iOS software are up to date. Download and install any updates that are available.
Check for and install any available operating system updates. (On Mac OS X, select Software Update from the Apple Menu. On a PC, run the Windows Update application.)
Try using a different computer to import your photos.
Email photos to yourself if you wish to keep them. Then, delete them from your device and reconnect the device to your computer.
Note: If you have a large number of these photos on your device, you may delete them from your device a few at a time and reconnect to the computer until the device is recognized.

I have the latest version of iTunes installed on my window 7 laptop and both my ipad4 and iPod touch have the latest ios installed.
Recently iTunes will recognize my iPod touch but not my ipad4. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes with the same result. Any suggestions on what else to try?

I Have installed the latest update for Itunes 11.1.3.8 on windows XP. i connect my new ipad and nothing happens. I have the lastest IOS on my new ipad. I deauthorised all devices as i had 5 thinking this was the problm. I cannot find how to authorise an ipad if it doesn't appear in itunes on the computer.
I cannot load all my movies onto my ipad and thats why i brought it in the first place. i am in strife here. Can anyone help me?

I have been able to get my device recognised on another computer. Interesting. I had to do a complete reinstall of iTunes I.e. Uninstall it then then reinstall it, I may have to try it again on the other computer so I reduce my authorised devices. I have screen lock on and this must be unlocked before I sync it with the computer. Now my problem will be this device authorisation of 5 devices. I have 2mini iPads that I want for different purposes. I have 2 ipads of different sizes I have 2 computers now each one recognises my minis I have a 4gb iPod nano to play music, and an 8gb iPod touch. I will have to think how I am going to use them.
2 computers, nano, iPod touch, 16gb iPad, 32gb iPad, 64gb iPad mini x 2. That's 8 devices. Of. Course my wife and I share them. We read the books and watch the movies we don't want too have to pay twice to buy the same book or movie, but I think we will need 2 accounts. I hope home sharing will work because that the only solution I can think of.

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

Then you will need to try restoring it once more:

       other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

       until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

       device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
       let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some

So you connect the iPod containing a hard drive. I would guess you are using USB, right? Then Windows opens a window (wow, that's repetative) that identifies this as a USB hard drive.
Am I close?
It sounds like you've told the iPod to act in Disk Mode. On the same preferences pane that you are telling iTunes to open, uncheck the box for enable disk mode. the mini should stop telling your computer it is a hard drive.
