ITunes will not recognize my iPad or iPhone.
iTunes will not recognize my iPad or my iPhone. However, it will recognize several older iPods. I am working in Windows 8. Help. I have tried everything I could find and even uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
I really think that my PC is not recognizing these correctly. When I plug in my iPad it opens directly as an external storage device. This was working properly a week ago. What happened?
Everytime I try i get an error message that states that itunes has been installed incorrectly.
What's the precise text of that message, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

ITunes will not recognize or sync my iPhone (or other devices)
iTunes used to pick up my iPhone and iPad when they were plugged into the USB port. Now it does not recognize any device plugged in. The USB works because I use it for other purposes (and it lights up the phone and starts charging it). Any ideas?

My new Ipad named itself the same as my old Ipad. Now neither will be recognized in Itunes. Should I reset new Ipad to factory settings and start over? How do I name it what I want?
To rename them go to Settings>General>About>Name.
Don't start all over again. There are solutions for devices that are not being seen in iTunes. Try those suggestions first.

Itunes will not recognize either my iphone 5 or my ipad since I have downloaded the new Itunes upgrade on my Windows 8.1 system. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and none of that works. Can someone help with this?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled and none of that works.
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 -
Forgot the passcode to my ipad. When I went to restore it, it asked me if I wanted to update the software so I said yes. It then went into recovery mode, I'm guessing, with the connect to iTunes showing on the screen. Now iTunes will not recognize it so I have no idea how to get it back! Help!!
Then you will need to try restoring it once more:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information. -

Hi CMC08,
Welcome to the Support Communities! The resource below will explain what to do if you forgot your passcode and need to restore your iPhone:
Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-us/ht1212
Erase and restore
If you can't remember your passcode, you'll need to erase your device, then use a backup to put your data and settings back on your device.
Recovery
Mode
Use these steps if you've synced your device with iTunes.
Use these steps if you have an iCloud account and have Find My iPhone turned on.
Use recovery mode if you can't sync or connect with iTunes and don't have an iCloud account.
I hope this information helps ....

my iTunes will not recognize my iPhone after iTunes was updated. what does that mean?
<Re-Titled By Host>Hello mzshay2u2,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you're unable to locate your iPhone within iTunes 12 on your Mac. First, I'd like you to take a look at the screenshot below, as iTunes 12 changed the navigation of your Library.
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB
If you do not see your iPhone's icon there, then continue on to the link below.
