Itunes will not run, apple application support not found

error when I install and try to run iTunes.  Apple application support not found, uninstall and download again

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

  • HT201413 updated last night and now ipod says to coonect to itunes which i cant because apple application support was not found.  tells me to uninstall and reinstall itunes.  Will i lose all my music or is it still on my ipod?

Updated ipod last night and now when turned on tells me to coonect to itunes (picture of usb cable with arrow to itunes).  I can't connect to itunes on computer because apple application support can't be found.  Tells me to uninstall then reinstall itunes.  Will I lose all my music or is it still on my ipod?

Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters.)

  • ITunes wont load Apple Application Support was not found

I have been having a lot of trouble downloading itunes. I had it on my laptop and then the laptop crashed. I tried to re-install,and it goes smooth then at the end. I get a window message that has a red and white X that says:
Apple Application Support was not found
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunesHelper. please unistall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
    Error 2
    ok
    Can anyone help me PLEASE?
    Thanks

With that one, let's try uninstalling both iTunes and Apple Application Suppport. When we reinstall iTunes, that should reinstall Apple Application Support as well. We'll take a few additional explicit precautions along the way too. Best to print these instructions out, because at one stage of proceedings you won't be able to use a web browser.
    Preliminaries
Download and save a fresh iTunes installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line and don't start the iTunes install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now, quit QuickTime (if you have that open) and Safari 4.0.4 (if you have that installed and open). Both applications use Apple Application Support, and they will interfere with the uninstall if you have them open.
    *Uninstall phase*
Head into your "Add or Remove Programs" control panel. Uninstall iTunes. Uninstall Apple Application Support (if it is listed in there).
(From this point on until we reinstall Apple Application Support, neither QuickTime nor Safari 4.0.4 will be able to run.)
Next we'll remove any leftover program files and folders.
    (1) Open "Local Disk (C:)" or whichever drive your program files are stored on.
    (2) Open the "Program Files" folder.
    (3) Right-click on the iTunes folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
    (4) Open the "Common files" folder.
    (5) Open the "Apple" folder.
    (6) Right-click on the Apple Application Support folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Now empty your Recycle Bin and restart the PC.
    *Reinstall Phase*
After the PC restarts, do not open any other applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus and antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Did the install seem to go through okay? If so, does iTunes start launching properly again?

  • When I click iTunes, it says i need Apple Application Support. How do I get it ? because I havent been able to get on Itunes since November. Anything will help .

I havent been able to get on ITunes since November and I have to update my ipod to iOS. When iTunes is installing it says an error message that has nothing to do with Itunes. Then it starts the install over again then it says that my Apple Mobile Support isnt working and the choices are to abort, cancel, or close. Then after the install is done it says Apple Application Support isnt found. I un installed and re-installed plenty of times and still nothing is working. And my ipod still dont have the iOS update.

Since it said to contact support, did you contact support?

  • Unable to remove old version of iTunes, apple application support.msi

Hi, I'm having trouble with my itunes and i don't know how to uninstall the old version of itune or uninstall the apple application support file that is in my control panel if anybody can help it will be greatly apprciated....

Did you get your issue resolved?  I think I'm having the same problem.  I can't uninstall itunes and I can't reinstall itunes without a box popping up stating
" The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below"
And when I search for that file on my computer, it finds 2 different paths and NEITHER of them contain the .msi file.   I'm ready to pay apple support just so I can scream at someone.  This is so frustrating!!!!

  • ITunes store no connect with apple application support 2.0.1

I have found that my store wont connect when I installed the latest Quicktime.  After several trial an errors i pinpointed it down to the latest apple application support.  Store works fine with the old version of 1.5.2.  Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a loss of store loading all of a sudden.  It might be this problem.

For some reason (Firewall / Internet security programs?) the Apple iTunes installation program doesn't install all the necessary components.
There is a way to manually unpack the installation program to it's 6 different components and install each component one by one.
(Advantage: you don't need to uninstall or deactivate your security programs)
    Best thing to do is:
    1) Download the iTunes installation program (directly from the Apple website
    http://www.apple.com )to your desktop,
    WITHOUT INSTALLING the iTunes application.
    2) Download he WinRAR decompression/unpack utility (for example from:
    http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html?tag=recommended Downloads )
and install it on your desktop for easy use.
    3) Unpack the iTunes installation program, using WinRAR by rightclicking the
iTunes installation program and choose 'Open with WinRAR'.
Don't bother with the message from WinRAR about files beïng corrupt
(these are probably the unreadable 'Apple Mac' files).
    4) You'l see that the original iTunes installation program consists of 6
    different installation programs.
4 utility programs (necessary for iTunes to work correctly)
    - Apple Application Support (Version: 1.3.2)
    - Apple Software Update (Version: 2.1.2.120)
    - Apple Mobile Device Support (Version: 3.2.0.47)
    - Bonjour (Version: 2.0.3.0)
    and 2 main programs
    - Quicktime
    - iTunes
Copy these 6 programs to your desktop with WinRAR,
    where they will appear unpacked.
    5) Install each program one by one IN CORRECT ORDER:
    - First the 4 utility programs, one by one.
    - Following this, install QuickTime.
    - Install iTunes as last.
    6) Check the Windows installed programs list to see if they're all installed.
You can check the versions of te programs by clicking the information toolbar
    for each program.
    Good Luck..!

  • Apple Application Support Error

I've tried everything I can to fix this problem.
At first it was as simple as uninstall / reinstall itunes.
First problem occured - apple mobile device isnt detected and in services it gives me an error when im trying to stop / start it and set it on automatic
Next it was about Quicktime and fixed that, and I thought everything was fine but I can't open Itunes, It keeps saying "apple application support not found".
I uninstalled everything but I can't seem to get rid of that particular one.
    It says
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'AppleApplicationSupport.msi' in the box."
The file doesn't exist to my knowledge. I cleaned the temp folder, of any traces of Apple, Itunes etc so i can reinstall but I can't get rid of Apple Application Support or even know what to do with it. Im completely lost on what to do

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
