Itunes will not shuffle songs

I can't shuffle songs in a playlist anymore. I used to be able to do it, then one day it just stopped. I clicked the icon, went to "control-shuffle songs", held down the alt button and clicked the icon, and even hit F5 as stated in the trouble shooting guide. Still no shuffle. Any suggestions? This isn't an idpo issue, its an itunes issue.

Thank you for posting this problem and solution. I had the same problem and couldn't find much help elsewhere. I tried your solutions and would offer a slight change that made it worked for me.
I completed steps 1 through 6. Then iTunes tried to sync with my ipod shuffle. It wasn't communicating with the ipod so the software was frozen for several minutes. I switched to Device Manager window to "Scan for hardware changes" and the iPod showed up under Storage volumes, but with a yellow circle with an exclamation mark in it. Clicking on the device properties showed that it was not working properly. After iTunes finally gave up trying to synce and reported the "Required disk cannot be found" message I returned to Device Manager and uninstalled the device (ipod). Then I followed the directions in step 7. to "Scan for hardware changes". Windows automatically installed the hardware, but then wanted me to reboot. The first time I pressed "Yes". That was the wrong choice. The second time I pressed "No". Then I followed step 8. and returned to iTunes and the ipod was working again. I deselected "disk use", switched to the content tab and clicked on Autofill and it worked.
Thanks again for your solution.

My player will not shuffle songs since last downlaod of music

    Hi Nannohelp,
If you are having interface issues with your iPod nano (won't shuffle), a reset has not resolved it, and you have all your music available in iTunes, you may want to try restoring your iPod to factory settings, reloading the music from iTunes, then testing the shuffle function. Are you sure the error message/prompt isn't referring to the amount of disk space available on your PC's internal hard drive?  If you head to Start -> My Computer.  How much space is free on your C: drive?
Maybe it would help if you could post a small screen shot of the error.

  • Why my Itunes is not shuffling songs all time?

After shuffling three or four songs from different albums, my Itunes will keep playing songs on shuffle mode from one album before going to the rest of my library. My Itunes is 10.6.3 version.

    Hello moshiul,
I'd recommend taking a look through the following article, as it can very well help get your iPhone and iTunes talking again.

  • ITunes will not load song info at start-up

    Hello,
Bought a 1GB shuffle, installed iTunes, tried loading my music into iTunes and no matter what I do, iTunes will not bring up the song info, artist info, album info, etc when the CD is inserted....it just keeps displaying Track 1, Track 2, etc....it doesn't matter if it is a store bought disc or a homemade copy, still does not recognize info.....I have the latest version of iTunes (4.9) and OS is Windows XP....Any info would be appreciated

If you look in the advanced menu at the top of the itunes window and click on the get track listings this will search for the c.d and give you all the info you require wont always work with obscure c.d's or copies... Hope the forum treats you well

  • ITunes will not play songs

iTunes will not play any songs from my library. When I click on the song to play the title appears in the box as if it is going to play but the the bar does not move and then the title disappears and a bunch of lines appear.
When I play a video, movie or TV program the video plays fine, but no audio comes out.
Audio and video work fine in any other application and all the system sounds work fine. I can also play audio and video fine using Windows Media Player.
I have shut-down and restarted several times and even let the computer stay shut-down overnight, but to no avail. I have upgraded to the newest version of iTunes and QuickTime. I have also made sure I have the most current version of all audio and video drivers for my laptop. I have also update Vista to Service Pack 1. I also noticed that MS Silverlight also loaded, so not sure if this could be causing my problems.
Any help that anybody can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Finally was able to fix the problem. Here is what I had to do:
    1. Uninstall MS Silverlight
    2. Install all new Audio and Video drivers (even though they were already the newest versions I had to re-install them).
    3. Installed newest MS Windows Vista upgrade.
    4. Restarted computer
    5. Made sure all my audio settings were set to use the proper speakers.
    Now everything is working fine.

  • ITunes will not play songs on NAS drive

I have a WD My Cloud NAS drive with all my music.  I've been playing the music through iTunes for the last year or so on my Windows 7 Professional PC.  I just upgraded to iTunes 12.1.0.71 and now iTunes will not play any of my music.  iTunes still sees all the music on my NAS drive but clicking the play button does nothing.  Only way I can get anything to play is to import the albums/songs into my playlist in iTunes, something I really don't want to do.

    Hi Josh,
I have exactly the same issue.  I also have many songs I purchased on iTunes that will not download.  It seems random.  I have 3 recently purchased albums that only half the tracks on one album will download, most on another, but only 2 on another.  It's annoying!  I keep tapping download and they just give up saying Cant connect to iTunes'. Even though it is.
Regardless, I have too exactly the symptoms you described, but had them periodically before today.  Again, not sure if its related, but have you recently got an Apple TV?

  • ITouch will not shuffle songs

My itouch will not shuffle any albums or playlists but rather repeats the first song played endlessly. Even when I select an album, the itouch will play the first song over and over.
I did a restore when this happened before (about 2-3 weeks ago), and the shuffle option worked again, but this time, the restore did not fix the problem with the shuffle option or with the songs playing moving to the next selection.
I have the latest ipod software.
Perhaps there is an ipod setting that I do not know about.
    Help will be much appreciated!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Make sure you haven't got repeat set. Tap the repeat button on the left hand side under the time elapsed until it's either blue for repeat playlist or white for no repeat. If it's blue with a 1 it'll just repeat the same song.

  • IPod Classic 120 will not shuffle songs

I  have a classic that has decided it will not shuffle through a play lis automatically and manually?
    Any thoughts are welcome
    alan

What happens when you try? If you start a song playing, what happens when the first one ends?
How did you turn on the shuffle feature?
Did you set it to shuffle songs or albums?
Are the songs in the Playlist set to Skip when shuffling?
What do you mean it will not shuffle through a play lis automatically and manually ? What is automatic shuffle; what is manual shuffle?

  • ITunes will not load songs on IPod

Recently, my Itunes has stopped adding songs to my Ipod. When I try to drag a playlist into my Ipod, Itunes will load one song and then stop. I've made sure that I have my Ipod set to manually manage my music. I've connected another Ipod and the same thing happens. Any assistance that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciate.

I am also having the same problem with IPod Mini(6G). I purchased it September 2005.
The only thing different was that I needed to change my credit card information. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

  • ITunes will not sync songs onto iPhone, troubleshooting methods not working

Simply put, songs will not download onto my iPhone.  I have tried every method that I could think of to solve this:
    -restarting phone and mac
    -updating iTunes
-taking off all the music from the phone and redownloading
-rechecking the little check thing that says I want that song
    -restoring my phone
-going onto the individual tab to sync and syncing from there(which leads to a whole other problem, because that deletes songs(story for another thread))
-manually dragging songs onto my phone icon dropbox thingy
-making sure the songs are the proper files
... and still nothing has worked.
When I go on my phone menu when its plugged into iTunes, and then go to the 'On Device' section, it shows that the songs are there, but they are faded out with this little circle thing next to them(I don't know if this is significant).
I'm at my wits end, I just don't know what to do.  I don't understand why iTunes is refusing to do something as simple as sync songs.
Any ideas? Thank you for any help you can provide!

    UPDATE:
I finally figured it out (though I'm not sure this counts as 'figuring it out').
So, what worked for me was unchecking the check box thing next to the song and syncing the phone.  After the sync--behold!--, the songs were in my phone.  I don't know if this is another glitch or not, but I'm running with it.
I wanted to post the answer so that other people who may have had this issue can hopefully resolve it.

  • Itunes will not download songs to my ipod.

I have bought the songs and have them in my library, when I try to put them on my ipod it shows that they have gone on but they don't because it says it isn't responding. What should I do?

I have authorized my computer to work with my ipod.  I have ran a sync and it did put music I copied to my computer to the ipod.  The thing it will not do is download music I bought from iTunes in the past. It just acts like they are not there.
