A bit more info for those of you reading this.... the problem seemed to be in iTunes. For each connected device , if I clicked on the Photo option I could no longer select the second radio button for limiting the photos by Events, Albums, etc. It was an all or nothing deal. But selecting all would cause the error.
So I had read the other forum posts about the "&" symbol being the cause of the problem. I went through iPhoto and made all of the changes. It did not work. I then looked at iTunes, using the AlbumData2.xml file listed in the other forums as a reference. I found one album with the "&". I edited that one. Still would not work. So then I spent 3 hours on the phone with AppleCare last week. I talked with 4 different advisors. None of them had heard about the "&" error from the forums. We tried everything in iPhoto including repair and rebuild. Finally we created a whole new library and reimported my master photos from my original one. Using this option would allow me to now check off that radio button in iTunes. BUT... I now lost all of my albums and events and would need to rebuid them. I was not happy. They agreed and we set up time to talk this week.
So today I talked with AppleCare again. They now have more info and said the problem has to do with iTunes and the new iPhoto 9.4. It does not like the "&" symbol anywhere in either iPhoto or iTunes. So they now have me going through everything in my iTunes library. Genre is OK but any other item cannot have " & ". I have several dozen to edit and will do it over the weekend and then restore my original iPhoto Library and see if I can finally get it all to sync. I will let you know how I make out, but apparently you need to eliminate " & " from every entry in iTunes and iPhoto.
Quality control is not up to par with Apple these days.

Please help me. I have an Ipod Shuffle and Ipod Nano both the latest versions. I can not get them to communicate with my ITunes. I have a G5 which I intend to keep.
Now that I have updated my iphone 4s to iOS 7.0.
I cannot add music to my iphone or upload photos to iphoto.
I have the last itunes 10.6.3. which was supported by apple.
itunes will not interact with my iphone on any level.
Apple made all the equipment I use.

Regarding iOS 7.0 you have totally lost the plot.
We buy apple why?
Quality.
Intuitive interface.
Stable software.
Design.
All that Steve Jobs consider sacrosanct.
Quality is about ongoing support longevity of product.
Its not about trying to sell to every person on the planet, others are way ahead of you.
So try respective the customers you have, it wont be long before theirs a better operating system and your lead in hardware is marginal.

If you have an iPhone or iPad do not update to ISO 7 unless you want an operating system that looks like windows 8. The graphics looks like it was designed by a artistically challenged mongoose and the operating system is not intuitive something apple users expect. Ive got the same problem, just got my iphone unlocked, and they told me to sync it to itunes to get it permently unlocked, well everytime i plug my iphone in it says; it wont work as it needs up dating to 10.6.3, which i have already updated, but still doesnt work, so how can i get my phone unlocked?

My sister is having the same issue on iPhone 4. iTunes only loads the menu buttons at the bottom of the app with no content. I'm going to have her try the reset settings.
I will add that iTunes on my iMac seems to require a cookie from Safari to keep you logged in. I've never seen the same requirement on the phone but iBond's solution will work if you ever have an issue with iTunes log in on your computer. -

itunes is installed with the latest version of itunes. all of a sudden, itunes will not sync with my ipod, itunes sees it, when i click to sync it goes through the motions, but never syncs. I get no messages or errors, it just never syncs. the ipod is seen in my computer as a portable device. windows 7 64 bit system. I had the apple store verify the ipod is fine, they emailed me the directions to uninstall all apple apps and reinstall. still, same thing. some of my playlists will not let me move songs within the playlist either, i get a blue border around the songs when i try to. not all of the playlists, only random ones
iDevices are not backup devices... restore your media/playlists from the backup of your computer.

Music from itunes will not sync with iphone 5
I just upgraded from iphone 4 to 5 and didnt have time for verizon to sync my phone so i did it when i got home. the music from my itunes will not sync with my phone. it shows the music on the usage bar when the phone is plugged in but shows no content on the phone. any suggestions?
I have a similar problem. Mine started with iTunes putting multiple versions of the same songs (whole and seemingly random albums) onto my iPod 5, but after trying to remedy that I now cannot sync any music of any sort. It took random songs off and then started getting stuck at the "waiting to apply changes" stage (as apparently many people have seen) and after trying all the things that are supposed to work I now have an iPod that doesn't have any music on it (because a lot of my music was not purchased on iTunes) and won't sync music or finish any other kind of sync.
It seems like the "fixes" discovered so far don't work for everyone.
My iPod is 5th gen running iOS 7.0.4 (but problem started on 7.0.3) with the latest version of iTunes, for reference. -

Contact NIK for updated/upgraded versions of their plug-ins. They have been having a lot of issues with their plug-ins.

How to De-authorize an older PC running Windows 2000 PC with iTunes 7? My itunes will not connect with the iTunes store to all the deauth request.
The "Deauthorize All" command is only available if iTunes thinks you are currently using 5 authorizations.
Otherwise, you can only deauthorize the old computer by using "Deauthorize this computer" from the computer itself.
If the old computer is no longer operable, you can't deauthorize it, but that is not a problem. -

After updating my Macbook pro to Yosemite, I have not been able to open iTunes. I have restarted the macbook and plugged my iPhone in and no matter what iTunes will not open!!!
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

ITunes will not work with my computer. iMac G3 processor, OS 10.4.11
Original message posted about a week ago - I have an iMac, OS is 10.4.11. I just updated my Quicktime software to 7.5, I also updated my iTunes to 8.2.1 (I think, it is definitely higher than 8.0). When I would open up iTunes. I would get this message. (We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later). This was happening before I did the current downloads. I had no trouble about 3-4 weeks ago. I was able to get into the iTunes store and download song. I am pretty annoyed to say the least. Apple makes it so difficult to get information, unless you do endless searches. Trying to contact customer service is a whole other nightmare. They offer this software for free, yet they want you to pay for everything. As you can imagine, I am not happy and venting is helping. So I am hoping there are some other people out there with similar problems who can help. Nothing has been changed or altered on my computer. I have no problem connecting to the internet. No passwords or ID's have been changed. As mentioned I updated my software to the highest, most current software available that my operating system can handle. Updated message 12/9/10 - I updated my iTunes version to 9.2.1. Now my iTunes will not open. When I do try to open it, It says that this program will only work with G4, and G5 processors. I don't know what to do. I can't afford a new computer right now. Any suggestions???? PLEASE HELP!!I am so frustrated!!! Thanks for your help.OK - to answer my own question, Apple recommend 8.2.1, but you can install 9.1.1 and it will run on a G3. Very slowly. Looks like this is the only option.
