Itunes will not SYNC Ipod.

My computer went on the fritz, and I had to have the hard drive wiped. I got it back and was reinstalling my itunes. Well, when I went to reload Itunes, everything went fine....however, now when I connect my ipod, it tells me that my ipod is already synced to another computer and it will not let me put my music from the ipod back onto my itunes. What am I doing wrong? I've tried resetting the ipod, and other things listed on other discussion threads, but I got lost. Please...help me. I'm do discouraged.

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

itunes will not sync music to my ipod touch or iphone 3g. Passes all diagonostic tests. copies apps but not music. Any Ideas?

just bought iphone 4 today from verizon and had the same problem. this is my 1st smartphone ever. apps all synced when i plugged it in to my computer except the music. this is what i did and it worked. plugged in phone to computer. then under the devices tab i clicked on the music tab. if you look to the bottom right of the itunes page there will be two tabs you can click on. one says settings and the other one says autofill. i clicked on the autofill and then it just started syncing. that was it. i'm not a tech guy by any means. just kinda of got lucky. i hope this helps you out. good luck!

  • Music from itunes will not sync with iphone 5

I just upgraded from iphone 4 to 5 and didnt have time for verizon to sync my phone so i did it when i got home. the music from my itunes will not sync with my phone. it shows the music on the usage bar when the phone is plugged in but shows no content on the phone. any suggestions?

I have a similar problem. Mine started with iTunes putting multiple versions of the same songs (whole and seemingly random albums) onto my iPod 5, but after trying to remedy that I now cannot sync any music of any sort. It took random songs off and then started getting stuck at the "waiting to apply changes" stage (as apparently many people have seen) and after trying all the things that are supposed to work I now have an iPod that doesn't have any music on it (because a lot of my music was not purchased on iTunes) and won't sync music or finish any other kind of sync.
It seems like the "fixes" discovered so far don't work for everyone.
My iPod is 5th gen running iOS 7.0.4 (but problem started on 7.0.3) with the latest version of iTunes, for reference.

  • ITunes will not sync photos

iTunes will not sync photos no matter what I try:
    * deleting photo cache folder
    * removing apps to free more space on iPod (120MB free)
I've tried many of the suggested remedies on this list, all to no avail.
I've noticed that during sync, when it reaches the "Syncing Photos" step, the progress bar stops spinning … hmmm?
When finished, I launch the Photos App on the iPod … it indicates that it is updating the library, but when it is done … voila … NO PHOTOS!
    Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Me Too.
I have just updated the ipod touch software to 4.1. The update seems to have helped improve the very sluggish performance introduced with 4.0 but now photos just won't sync.
These are the same photos that are on the ipod Touch from software 4.0. The other sync items seems to have worked.
The sync gets stuck with either "Finishing sync" and barber-pole scroll or Syncing photos 4 of 4.
Unchecking the "Sync photos" Allows the sync to complete.
The "Remove photos/Keep photos" option appears when changing the "Sync photos" option. Keeping the photos leaves the previously installed images on the IPT. Using a PowerMac G5.

  • Itunes will not sync. my photos from my Iphoto library

Itunes will not sync. my photos from my Iphoto library
When I try to sync photos to my iPod (80gb video Ipod) it gives me the error "The iPod cannot by synced. The required file cannot be found." Does anyone know what file this is and why it cannot find it? Thanks for any help.

I asked the same question last February and got no help from Apple and a well intentioned but not so useful reply from a fellow Mac user.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=843093&tstart=0
However, when switching to a new MacBook Pro, I observed what happened and found out the root of the problem.
When you tell iTunes to sync your iPod with your iPhoto Library, it creates a folder called "iPod Photo Cache" at >User>Pictures>iPhoto Library, which depending on the size of your iPhoto library, or how many pics you want to sync with iTunes, it can be huge! (1,600+ pics created a 1Gb+ folder).
The solution is obvious: just delete that folder and let these applications create a new one next time you instruct iTunes to sync your photos. To be sure, next time you open iTunes after you throw away that folder, uncheck the iPhoto option, close iTunes, make sure the folder is gone, and then, when you open iTunes again with your iPod connected, check it again having made sure that the pesky folder is not there and iTunes (or iPhoto, who knows) will create a fresh one.
By the way, iPod Photo Cache folders are created all over the place! Do a Spotlight search in your hard drive and you will be amazed about how many you will find!
    Good luck! Hope it works!

Please help! After several years of working without an issue, I tried to sync my itunes library to my ipod recently (the only changes were that I edited existing playlists, no new music was added or deleted).
    The issue appeared as follows:
    - Firstly I saw error 69.  I removed all music that appeared to be an error (given that no songs had given this error beforehand, I don’t understand why all of a sudden itunes wouldn’t allow my ipod to sync with songs it had previously synced)
    - Once I had removed these songs, I attempted again to sync, but itunes now just freezes mid sync (sometimes on a song, sometimes not).  I cannot click on anything in itunes when it freezes, I just have to shut it down via task manager.  Sometimes itunes will sync a song without an issue (and progress further in syncing, then freeze later), and sometimes it will freeze on that same song it previously had no issue with, stating “error 69”
    - I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.  The issue remained.
    - I uninstalled and reinstalled my entire music library.  The issue remained.  I created new music libraries that do not have any songs from my previous music library. The issue remained.
    - I have attempted to sync another ipod, which previously worked.  It experiences the same issue now.  Both ipods now, every time I attempt to sync, request me to restore defaults and scan and fix issues with the ipods.  Sometimes I do so, but it makes no difference.
    - In summary: itunes will not sync even if uninstalled and reinstalled.  I have tried syncing two different ipods, both of which synced without issue previously, but neither will sync now.  I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling and creating a new music library, but itunes still will not sync.

    Hi victorian1978,
It sounds like you have been on the right track in troubleshooting this issue. You may want to double-check that you are completely removing all the iTunes files when uninstalling/reinstalling, and make sure you test with only a limited amount of data initially (perhaps a single song).
