ITunes will not update because 'iPod Service' could not be downloaded.
For many months now I have been trying to update my iTunes on my computer yet whenever the update is being downloaded I recieve an error message that tells me to go to the Tools menu and to download it from there. I do this and try to install the software again but whenever iTunes is in the process of being downloaded I get the message "Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services." But the thing is I am the administrator on this computer and I get this message everytime. To update I have been uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it. What can I do to fix this?
To update I have been uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it.
Doublechecking. Have you tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Cannot Load iTunes 10.0 Because "iPod service could not be installed".
When I tried to upgrade to iTunes 10.0 I received an error message and was told to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. When I tried to install 10.0 . I got the following error message "Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services." It then won't let me proceed with the installation. What can I do to install the new version of iTunes?
I have a similar problem when trying to upgrade to iTunes 10. The iPod Services exists but won't start - either automatically or manually. Have uninstalled, deleted, reinstalled following lots of different suggested paths but nothing has resolved it so far. Can no longer synch with iPod or synch photos/video/music with iPad

ITunes does not install properly, 'iPod Service' could not be installed
During an iTunes update to latest version. The update failed, I downloaded manually and reinstalled but it still failed. I remove all apple applications from the PC. redownloaded iTunes and reinstalled again. This time I got the message 'Service 'iPod Service'(iPod Service) could not be installed. etc'.
I am an administrator I can install services.
I am using Windows XP Service Pack 3, using Norton Internet Security as a virus protection and firewall. Norton has been installed for 6 months and iTunes has been updating okay until the current update.I've got the same problem. What's with Apple? You'd think they could send out an update that works. But, that hasn't happened in years. Tell us what to do, Apple! This is ridiculous!

Itunes will not setup....'ipod service' could not be stopped
While installing itunes...at Status: Stopping Services...a box appears and says: 'ipod service' could not be stopped. Verify that you have suffiecient privileges to stop system services.
What does this mean?that can happen sometimes if the itunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either itunes or quicktime (or applications using quicktime) prior to the install. so let's try a "download, restart, then install strategy."
leave your ipod unplugged.
download and save a copy of the itunes installer to your hard drive. (do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
iTunes 7.0.2.16 Installer
shut down running applications and restart the PC.
do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
does the install go through properly this time? -

How do I get iTunes Helper to run again?
How do I get the iTunes update to version 7.6 to successfully install?
Thank you for your help. Before reinstalling everything, I'm curious if you've ever used your System Configuration Utility on your computer? Click Start > Run and type msconfig. Click OK. Is the option for 'selective startup' selected? If so, click the Startup tab and make sure iTunesHelper and qttask are selected, and then click the Services tab and make sure iPodService and AppleMobileDevice are selected.
If that is not the case, I would recommend removing everything and reinstalling.
My recommended technique is as follows:
Go into Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Remove these applications:
1. Apple Software Update
2. Apple Mobile Device Support
3. iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, either way, it's not needed so we can remove it)
4. iTunes
5. QuickTime
Restart the computer
Download & Install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Launch the Utility: Start > Programs > Windows Install Clean Up
Select any of the above mentioned applications, and click Remove
Restart the computer again
Download & install iTunes again from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

purchased a song from iTunes, i tried to transfer it to my itouch, but i received an error "iTunes could not copy because the file could not be converted". how do i convert the song (well, i thought it will automatically be converted)?
Problem Fixed:
Remove the song from your itunes library, then go to the itunes store and try to download it again. It will say something like "this song has already been purchased, would you like to download it again for free?". Click yes, and it will download again. This worked for me, hope it helped -

close Windows Services console ( services.msc )
close all command prompts ( cmd.exe )

Hello agardner37701,
I found some steps you can take when your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes when in Recovery Mode. I recommend reviewing the steps in the section titled "If the device is not recognized while in Recovery Mode" under step 5 in the following article:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Error 1921 Ipod Service could not be stopped
I am trying to install Itunes 7.6 + Quicktime. On the download status screen it says Status: Stopping Service. The green activity bar stops and after awhile an error message pops up that says - Error 1921. Ipod Service could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services. It says retry and cancel. Pushing retry only results in the same error. I don't know what this means.
That can happen sometimes if the iTunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either iTunes or QuickTime (or applications using QuickTime) prior to the install. So let's try a "download, restart, then install” strategy.
Leave any iPod unplugged.
Download and save a copy of the iTunes installer to your hard drive. (Do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
Latest iTunes Installer
Shut down running applications and restart the PC.
Do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
Does the install go through properly this time? -
Itunes could not sync because a connection could not be established to the Iphone
I have been trying to sync my 4s and I keep getting "Itunes could not sync because a connection could not be established to the Iphone"
I am also getting this error with two iPad 2s and an iPhone 5. All are on iOS 6.0.1 and this is with iTunes 11 on a Windows 7 PC. I also have an iPhone 4 that does not seem to have an issue that I can tell. When I plug in the iPhone 5 and one of the iPads, it will start to to sync and right at the end I get that message. It will, however, still continue to sync the device after the error message pops up. With the one iPad, which is rarely connected to computer, it will find the iPad via wifi when iTunes is opened, but I will get that message when it is performing its initial sync.
While I kept having sync issues when using iTunes 10.7, this is a new issue for me. I was also getting a lot of warnings that the iPhone or iPad could not be synced because the connection was lost even though the iPad and iPhone were connected via USB cable. In those cases, the sync would just abort. I have not gotten that error though in two days. At the time to resolve that issue, I needed to disconnect the USB cable, reset the iPhone/iPad, and then reconnect the USB cable.
I really wish Apple would figure out these sync issues.

Itunes could not copy because the file could not be converted
So I just bought two songs from Itunes...but they won't sync to my iphone and an error message keeps coming up. It just says "Itunes could not copy because the file could not be converted" I just paid money for the songs though...so I would really really like to get them on my phone...any suggestions??
Problem Fixed:
Remove the song from your itunes library, then go to the itunes store and try to download it again. It will say something like "this song has already been purchased, would you like to download it again for free?". Click yes, and it will download again. This worked for me, hope it helped -
Ipod service could not be found
ipod service could not be found
Are you saying that an error message says that the Apple Mobile Device Mobile Service is not started when you connect the iPod to your computer? If that is the case see:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
Otherwise more clearly describe the problem together with the exact wording of any error messages. -
Basically, i've tried a number of fixes and so far none have actually solved the problem.
I am running Windows 7 Premium. 6GB RAM. 64-bit Operating System. Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30 GHz.
