Itunes will not upgrade, won't sync with ipod

One day everything was fine, the next day, when I tried to synch my 80G ipod classic, error msg said I needed version 7.6 or newer. I tried to download version 7.7, it says I need to check with system administrator. (that would be me). What gives? It used to be fine. I can still add music to my library, but cannot synch them to ipod. Also, for awhile I couldn't open itunes until I removed quicktime then downloaded version 7.7 of itunes (with quicktime). Now I can open itunes, but still no upgrade or synch. Any ideas. I think apple screwed up big time

I tried uninstalling itunes. It won't allow it. Says older version is preventing it.
What's the precise text of your error messages please? In particular are any of them mentioning an iTunes.msi file?

  • IPhone 4s will not AUTOMATICALLY wi-fi sync with iTunes

I can manually Wi-Fi sync my iPhone 4s with iTunes without any problems (settings -> general -> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync -> Sync Now.)  The problem is that this is the only way that it will Wi-Fi sync.  It will not automatically Wi-Fi sync with iTunes when I plug it in to power each night.
I'm running iTunes 10.5 on Lion, iPhone 4S. iPhone is set to backup to iCloud.  It does backup to iCloud each night, just no iTunes sync.
Any ideas why it won't automatically Wi-Fi Sync to iTunes each night?

I'm giving this a try to see if it fixes it: On my Mac under iTunes -> Preferences -> Devices, the box was checked for "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically."  I'm hoping this fixes the problem.

  • My iPhone 6 plus will not automatically wi fi sync with iTunes 12 when attached to a power supply.

My iPhone 6 plus will not automatically wi fi sync with iTunes 12 when attached to a power suppy
i can manually sync from phone or iTunes on MacBook but will not auto sync.
have latest versions of IOS8, OSX Yosemite and ITunes 12.

    Good day dexv,
There are three conditions that must be met in order for an iPhone to sync automatically over Wi-Fi. It sounds as if you have met one of them, can you check to see if the other two are met as well?
    See this article -
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with iTunes using Wi-Fi - Apple Support
The iOS device will sync automatically when the following conditions are true:
    The iOS device is charging.
iTunes is open on the computer.
The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

Somehow my Itunes started a new music library and I lost the old library.  Itunes will not allow me to sync new music from my computer to my Ipod because it is now in a different library. Itunes wants to delete all my Ipod music before sync any new music. How do I work around this. I think this happened during Itunes Upates.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • ITunes won't sync with iPod Classic

    Hi Helpful people,
Sorry to ask the same question as a lot of others but nothing seems to be working.
    I have a 60GB iPod classic and I'm running iTunes 10.6.1.7
    iTunes detects my iPod device.
In the iPod summary I have open iTunes when iPod is connected ticjed and sync only ticked songs and videos ticked.
I have tried sync'ing like this and with both unticked.
I have triied sync'ing from this page and also the File drop down.
The best I have achieved so for is it saying it is sync'ing but I don't get the usual message at the top of sync'ing 1 of 5226 or whatever that I used to.
    Any tips from cyberspace?

  • ITunes will not open on my iPhone with the new update 10/18/13

iTunes will not open on my iPhone after the new update 10/18/13. It opens on my iPad that also has the new update; just not my iPhone.

OK, so what troubleshooting steps have you taken?  Have you taken the ones recommended in the User Guide?  Exactly what HAVE you done thus far to help solve your problem?

  • Installed new hard drive now iTunes will not load my purchases on my iPod

I installed a new hard drive on my computer and successfully transferred all my files to the new hard drive. The first time I tried to sync my iPod a message appeared that my iPod would have to be reformatted to operate with this version of Windows.
Now, iTunes recognizes my iPod but during the update an error message displayed indicating my iTunes purchases were prohibited from being loaded on my iPod and removed the purchases I originally had on my iPod.
How do I get iTunes to include my purchases when syncing my iPod?

Thank you Patrick. You solved my problem. Just checked it out and I now have my purchases on my iPod. Only annoying thing was I had to authenticate my computer a couple of times.

  • Itunes will not allow music to sync since latest upgrade

Trying to sync music to two different ipods and ipad. since downloading the latest itunes version, no music will sync to either device.  I have checked selected songs (different for each device) and it will recognize 1755 songs but on the capacity bar, no audio is showing and when syncing, no music is transferred. I have tried restoring each device, all have latest upgrades....don't understand why it won't sync properly.  any ideas out there?

this is a bug that came with the latest update. haven't seen any way of getting round it i'm afraid: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html

  • IPad will not turn on or sync with iTunes.

my ipad 2 has been running well and i always put it on my bedside table when i go to bed. however, when i woke up this morning, my ipad is not working, (the screen will not turn on) it makes no noises and seems lifeless. i have tried to plug it into itunes on my mac and it has not recognized the ipad. i have tested to see if its itunes that is not working but it sync's fine with my iphone. it has not come into contact with water and has worked fine for the past months. thank you and please help me, g.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Upgrading to windows 8 , hence will have to reinstall itunes , will all my playlist. apps synced with my iphone get deleted ?

i am upgrading to windows 8 , and i will have to reinstall itunes on my computer, will doing so delete all the data ? to be specific will it delete all the playlist n the stuff that i currently see in my itunes ? whats gonna happen to all the apps that i had downlaoded for my iphone ?

As given iTunes is not currently supported on Windows 8, however this is the approach that I would recommend when the time comes.
Backup the library with this User Tip.
    Deauthorize the old operating system.
    Install new operating system.
Restore the backup to your new system using the same tool used to back it up.
    Install iTunes.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
This should give the new system a complete clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

  • IPod touch will not turn on or sync with iTunes

I was listening to music on my iPod and i paused it. When i looked back at my ipod it had a black screen so i figured it was just in like the sleep mode or whatever it is. but when i hit the button for the screen to come back up nothing happened. i tried hitting and holding the on, off button and nothing. I got home and plugged it in and nothing happens. I hope someone can help me with this because my iPod isnt even 2 months old.

I have had the same problem.
I was using Safari and clicked the lock button. Came back and thought my iPod was flat. I have tried charging it with a charger in two different powerpoints and then with my computer and nothing. I have tried resetting it and have tried to connect it to iTunes but my computer will not even find the device.
    Any Solutions?

  • My Iphone will not come on after syncing with Itunes.

Please help with syncing issue.   I just get a picture of a chord and the Itunes symbol.  Please help!!!!

You may have disconnected your phone before it was finished syncing.  Now you have to connect your phone to iTunes and iTunes will probably tell you that you have to restore your phone.
