Itunes will only show apple tv as device, but itunes won't show some tabs

when apple tv is connected to my laptop, itunes will show the device but the screen won't show some of the tabs like: info, or music, it does show: summary, photos. What is wrong with itunes not showing the apple tv device source tabs?

Hello Nate, thanx for the solution but that also doesn't worked for me and to name it - I am not willing to disable my firewall to get something running that worked before the atv 2.4 and itunes update - same with my network settings - after trying static IPs I returned to DHCP - so if there are friends in my network they don't need to adjust anything at their devices! And I am not working with WLAN - just simple cable - good, fast and save!
My atv has a static MAC-Address isn't it an easy thing for a software to search for it? I am willing to enter it in itunes if I could but I can't!
The whole software programming seems not to be very buggy and insufficent to me!
e.g.
1) The atv reboot-function on the atv-remote with pressing - and menu for 5 seconds always gets me the fancy question mark - so the only real reboot is pulling the plug,
2) On itunes I can test my network, my iphone and my ipod (which I don't have) but why can't I test my apple tv connection?
3) Sometimes I had the problem that I have to sync some content (music and videos) more than one time to be accepted from the atv - even if it was mp3 and mp4 - but that's not a problem anymore while there is not any sync for the atv
It seems to me that I am forced to enable SSH or FTP-connect so I can get rid of itunes!

Itunes will only let me restore... but the phones working alright

i've had tons of problems with the iphone and have had to restore it about 8 times in the last month.... i was able to restore from backup last night, then it backed up the phone.
tonight i plugged it in to sync, backup, etc. and in itunes when you click on the (device) iphone icon it brings up the set up your phone page. it says "an iphone has been previously synced with this computer" and gives two options
set up as a new phone (or)
restore from the backup of:
and shows my last sync was today at 12:20 am
as if it wasn't bad enough i always have to backup and restore my phone cause its frozen, etc but to have to do it when its doing ok.... does anyone know how to get around this.
and of coarse i'm also dealing with the applications not working on my phone right now but i'm just gunna wait it out till the september update, cause all the restoring stuff is crazy.
so the problem i need help with is getting around the set up your iphone part.... i don't have a ton of new stuff to loose, but i am tired of loosing it none the less.

ok so i did take the plunge and i restored as a new phone, and it was so weird.... it actually synced the contacts and everything... then it started to install apps so i stopped it and set it to restore from backup....
so that saved my new calander, contacts, and bookmarks. unfortunatly you loose text messages every time you have to do this.... it would be so nice if there was a program for texts so it could sync text messages as well.
oh and i'm glad i remembered to download my pictures in iphoto before i restored, it would be nice if the pictures you took with the phone automatically synced in itunes... cause with all the problems we're having sometimes you forget you still have the ability to back them up.
i'm still very open to any suggestions for if this happens again in the future.... i sure hope apple has people reading these to see what they need to improve.... cause iphones are truly awesome... when they're working correctly.

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
I suspect you have a hardware problem.

My iphone 5s shows up in image capture, but it won't show any pictures to import.

I recently just started having an issue trying to import photos and videos from my iPhone 5s to my 2009 macbook pro. (version 10.6.8). It will connect to my phone, but it will say there are 0 photos to import. I've check and I am updated on both, and I've followed the other steps listed at iOS: Unable to import photos to computer.
Note: I actually think this started after updating my iphone to the latest software.

From other post, I find this: "I figured out the fix for the Mac users having this problem. I connected my iPhone to my iMac and started iTunes. A dialogue came up in iTunes, I OK'd that and then OK'd the usual "Do you trust this Mac" that comes up on my iPhone. If you're really trying to use Windows 2000, then that's the problem. As you'll see on the box, you need at least XP/SP3.

My ipod won't show up as a device on itunes

Every once in a while my ipod (2nd gen) won't show up as a device on itunes. Any thoughts on what might be wrong? I really miss not being able to download my updated pocasts --- the music isn't an issue because I can still listen to whatever I had on there last, but podcasts no way to update...
I've tried different ports for the usb hub, for the usb just the chord, etc.

Well, once again if I had either thought a bit, or read another post or two I would have had an answer
I ended up following the ipod nano (2nd gen) trouble shooting steps --- and voila, it now shows up just fine. So anyone else having this probem with itunes/ipod nano on a mac -- try that first.
There are some other articles about reinstalling apple device service -- sorry don't remember the link -- but thatos for osx 10.6.8 or earlier but I'll bet just resetting your ipod will work most of the time.

They will not.
They ONLY work on itunes/apple devices.

I have a 3GS phone that can no longer be upgraded on my Powerbook because it is ancient and can only run 10.4.11, consequently itunes will only upgrade to 9.2.1(4). Is there any way i can upgrade the phone so hereafter i will not need a computer to do it.

ITouch doesn't show up as a device in iTunes

My sister registered and installed my new iTouch. It used to show up as a "Device" on iTunes, but no longer does.
I've downloaded the most recent version of iTunes and restarted both the iTouch and computer. When I do plug in the iTouch, I only get the computer's "Auto-Play" message asking me if I want to import pictures, download from files, etc. It's the same message I get when I plug in a flash drive or my camera.
I realize this is not the most complicated question posted here : )
