ITunes will sync my playlists, but there's no music in it

When I sync my playlists over to my iDevice, the playlist will show up, but there is no music in the folder. The playlist shows up on my iDevice, and the music is still synced to the device, but there is no music in the playlist. This has only happened when iTunes updated to version 12

If you want all the songs from an artist on your phone you can to to the artist view, tap on the artist, scroll to the bottom of the list and you will see a Download All button.  This works for playlists and albums too (scroll to the bottom and tap the Download All button).  I suppose if you wanted all your music on your phone you could create a smart playlist in iTunes on your computer that would contain all your music, upload it to iTunes match (Store>Update iTunes Match), and then you would get a Download All button at the bottom of this playlist on your phone to download all your songs.

  • When I had my ipod I used my dad's computer. I then lost my ipod and moved. I have my moms old laptop.I logged into my account and synced this computer but there is no music in the library. How do I get all my music back I bought on itunes.

For what silly reason would someone expect media to magically appear simply because they signed into iTunes?
Media is only where the user puts it.
Either copy the media from the old computer (or it's backup) to the new computer or download past purchases from iTunes.

iTunes match:  my iPhone 4s shows my playlists, but there are no songs!  What's up?

    Normal Playlists should be working
Smart playlist should be working, but i got also some faulty PL on the played recents etc..
Smart playlists depending on other smart playlists don't work all the time.
ok I had my troubles aswell with this - during the holidays I reserved some time to rebuild my iphone from scratch. Just to clean it up after 1,5 years working and playing around with it. And suprrise surpise, playlists, songs, etc... all info on the iphone showed correctly and worked well!
So after rebuilding from scratch (took my a couple of hours) i can now start playing around with itunes match.
I know, its a lot of work, but i think my iphone structure was a bit messed up with all this playing around.
    Perhaps this helps...

  • My new iPod won't sync unless I have iTunes 10.7 or later, but there is no such version.  iTunes 10.6 is the latest.  What's going on?

I plugged in my new iPod and a message said that it would not sync unless I have iTunes 10.7 or later, but there is no such version.  I checked for updates and iTunes 10.6 is the latest.  What's going on?

You need to upgrade the computer's OS to at least Mac OS X 10.6.8, which requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB of RAM.

  • ITunes not syncing selected playlists, choosing songs from all playlists

I have some smaller iPods that I use on random occasions. When I sync them, I choose the following options:
    Sync Music:
    Selected Playlists, artists, genres
    Music Videos - Not Checked
Automatically fill free space with songs - Checked
I have two playlists from which I wish a selection to be made, which exceeds the size of the iPod (they were designed for larger devices synced with this machine). When I attempt to Sync, I get a message saying that the iPod is too small, and would I like iTunes to automatically choose songs to sync. If I click no, the sync is canceled. If I click yes to have a subset of my two playlists automatically choosen, the ipod will sync, but then iTunes clears all of my selected playlists and starts syncing songs from all playlists.
This seems like a bug in iTunes to me, as it is not performing the requested options. Has anyone else experienced this, or know how to get it fixed? Or to get a bug report sent in to Apple? I have been going all over the place on their support page, and since this isn't an issue with the iPod, but with iTunes, I haven't been able to find a support avenue.

iTunes not syncing selected playlists, choosing songs from all playlists
You have it selected to *sync selected playlists* and those playlists are not syncing to the iPod?
however this seems to be very counter-intuitive behavior for iTunes
It can be kind of confusing.
I suggest it's not a bug in that it is acting as it's supposed to.
The option (Fill free space) could be made clearer. Perhaps if they added "with songs at random from the entire library" or somehow added an option to select what the free space will be filled with.)
    1) The fact that iTunes it is not obeying the selected options on the screen
    Not supposed to do that.
If the playlists all fit and there is free space, what would iTunes use to fill the free space if it only used selected items?
    2) iTunes is allowing users construct an unhonorable set of choices out of four options. If "Selected playlists, artists and genres" is not compatible with "Automatically fill free space," then that option should be grayed out.
    It is compatible.
If there is free space after your selections are added, what should iTunes use to fill the free space? It shouldn't fill the free space with stuff already on the iPod.

  • HT2736 I have one account for itunes will alot of apps, but I make another new one, can I transfer or use these apps in the old acount in the new one ?

    Another question
Is sync the iphone or iPod with itunes will sync only apps or all others like contacts, calender, music, books ,,,,, ?

Thanks for your reply, but may be I was not clear for what I am asking about
I have 2 iphones and 1 ipod touch
I need all apps only to be in the 2 iphones and ipod.
I need to separate the contacts, as each device has its own contacts, calender, books and music
Music is not downloaded from apple, they are from the computer hard disk.
Noting that all apps are downloaded using 1 acount and I have 2 other acounts (Total of 3 acounts).
Any way to do this ?!!
    Thanks for your cooperation

  • IPad 3 needs to be unplugged and re-plugged USB before iTunes will Sync it... Huh?

My iPad 3 needs to be unplugged and re-plugged USB before iTunes will Sync it...
It can be plugged in and online in iTunes, with the home screen showing, and iTunes just hangs when I try to Sync it, unless I unplug and re-plug it USB
    Anyone seen this before?

Yes, but I charge my iPad with my iMac, so it's connected most of the time, and to have to unplug/replug it to sync it is nuts.
Why does it hang when I hit "Sync" ? It should never hang. Either I am doing something wrong, or This Is A Bug.

  • Not of iTunes will sync

I just got a iPhone from someone. Not all of my itunes will sync to this phone. Can someone please help?

Hello, and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
first of all, I don't think you have a shuffle, as they come up to 4 GB.
Syncing is a concept that some users have a hard time adjusting to - it means synchronizing the content of the iPod to your PC.
When you tell iPod to sync only two songs, it does exactly that; you may want to set up playlists in iTunes that contain what you want on your iPod and sync those automatically.
Another option would be to Manually Manage your iPod, in which case you can just drag and drop songs on it like you would with any other MP3 Player, however, you lose the convenience of syncing.
Hope this solves your problem, cheers.

  • Sync One Playlist But Continue to Drag and Drop

    Hi all,
Is there a way to sync one playlist but still maintain drag and drop so I can manually add movies and/or more music?
    Thanks,
    Jon

    No.
Why not sync selected playlists then add/remove from those playlists?

Unless you deliberately downgraded iTunes this may be a sign of a corrupt library. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.
