Itunes / Win7 RC Sync problem - yet to find answer/work-around...

Quick synopsis - itunes won't let me re-sync after the initial ipod connection sync as it's already ejected the device (or Win7 has).
I've got Win7 RC, tried itunes 8.1 & latest 8.2, I've uninstalled completely using the advice on this forum & re-installed. I've made sure itunes is authorised on my PC, the itunes install itself was fine (no errors etc).I've tried disc mode, tried different USB ports, tried 'don't auto sync' on the devices tab, tried mucking around with the apple mobile sync bit in Win services too!
Problem : when I attach either my 4th gen Ipod or my video Nano, itunes recognises the device (as does Win7) & sync's immediately. No problems so far. Unfortunately (for me anyway!) as my nano & ipod are both full, it comes up with the dialogue box asking if I want to stop syncing podcasts etc. Trouble is, either of the ipods have already disconnected so even if I click OK, it's too late & itunes comes up with device not found (or some such message) as it's already been ejected.
If I unplug (or hard reset) & replug back in, itunes just starts as normal & tells me that I've not got enough room on the device!
A bit of a catch 22 situation.
It makes no difference if the ipod(s) are in disc mode, if I restart/stop/change the apple mobile device bit in Win services.
I did try to restore both the ipods (which eventually worked) but if course it will not let me re-sync after having sync'd once.
I'm running out of ideas - can anyone help?

My itunes wasnt recognizing either my or my husbands phones via wifi either, I took the suggestion of others and reconnected to wifi, didnt work. What ended up working for me was going into network preferences on the mac, and than advanced and deleting my network from the list of preferred networks, turning on wifi on my mac, quitting itunes, turning wifi on my mac back on, reconnecting to my network and opening up itunes. Just synced a song to my iphone via wifi no problem. Odd workaround but hopefully that helps you. I am running osx 10.8.2 and my phones are on ios 6.0.1

Itunes 10.2.2.12 - All Itunes 10 Version Sync problems

I am using Windows XP PC latest service pack, I have a newer 5th Gen 16GB Ipod Nano, I now have the latest Itunes 10.2.2.12. Every since I have had this newer Ipod Nano,and with first version of Itunes 10, nothing but syncing problems. After calling Apple Ipod Tech Support, and scouring Apple Help screens and forums, just like Apple Tech Support reps, the recommendation is mostly the same, they have me go through the grueling, time consuming process of Uninstalling and Re-installing Itunes, which I have done many times, sometimes it would help in syncing, many times not.Also tried other Apple support recommendation tricks with Apple Mobile Device too, and even upgraded to a Higher speed USB Port,again it would sync for a while and then eventually would start having same sync problems again, even after updating to the latest Itunes. Errors: Itunes is Unable to locate Ipod attached, or The required folder cannot be found.
When exactly will Apple tech Support put out a New Fully Stable Itunes Version to correct and remove these problems that occur over and over again, with so many Ipod users online?? I am getting so frustrated, that I am looking for Itunes and even Ipod better alternatives to avoid these big time consuming headaches. Anybody have a Full solution, or at least somewhat permanent Solution to these Ipod sync Errors?? Thanks for your time.

well i'm running iTunes same vsn on a brand new iMac i7 2.93GHz and i'm constantly having to wait while the old beach ball of death appears. it usually only halts normal operation for 15 to 40secs but thats ridiculous enough. i've got 16Gb of DRAM and even with no other apps running this happens - and it happens about every 3 mins or so. crazy.
9037 songs in the library.
i guess this is better than iPhoto 9 which crashed and refuses to boot full stop, in spite of several re-instals.
and i thought the new world of apple was gonna be rosy. hmmmm.

OSX iTunes to touch sync problem...ARGH

I have had my iPod touch for a few weeks now, but the other day it stopped syncing - partly.
Let me explain: I can sync Music, Movies, Podcasts and Photos, it is only if I tick anything on the "Info" tab in Itunes that I get an error message. Means: If I want to sync address book, iCal, Mail accounts or bookmarks, iTunes starts syncing the music etc, but then spits out an errormessage when it gets to the latter:
"iTunes could not sync mail accountsto the iPod because the sync serverfailed to sync the iPod"
I then started up up the console to have a look what it wanted to tell me, here is what I got:

I found the above syncservices folder, and dragged it to the desktop to see what would happen.
iTunes could still sync music, but for other data it would tell me this:
"iTunes could not sync mail accountsto the iPod because an error occurred while pushing data from the iPod"
So I quickly moved the folder back, and the same (original) errormessage returned.
I am at loss what to do - reinstall iTunes? ARGH!

Within our family, the 5 of us we have 11 devices: 5 ipods, 1 ipad, 3 itouches, and 1 iphone4 {+ a mac laptop} but only 1 itunes account. We are having problems logging into itunes. Friends have said our problem is either: you can only have 5 devices on 1 account or you have home sharing maxed out {we have the itunes loaded on 4 computers + my computer at work}. ... not sure how we can resolve this. Do I have to set each person up with an itunes account? jbrooker, I am having a similar issue to roaminggnome, we have 4 windows laptops, 2 iPhones, 5 ipods.
I have the iTunes account and the music Library on my laptop and this is used to sync to my iPhone and 4 iPods = 5 devices.
I have managed to share my library with my wifes laptop and she can access it when my PC is not on, she is also able to sync her iPhone to her laptop. She has her own iTunes account.
My son has an iPod and laptop but no iTunes account, his iPod is synced to my laptop and my iTunes account. But his laptop cannot download my iTunes Library he is getting a message saying that my iTunes account is synced to the maximum of 5 devices. Thus he can only see the library when my laptop is at home (and I take my Laptop to work etc).
Would this problem go away if my son has an iTunes account? He's only 11yo so I'm reluctant to set him up with one just yet.
Any advice would be appreciated.

this has been happening all over the world on various phone suppliers and networks and there has still been no official reply from what the problem could be.

actually its not in DFU which is suppose to be a black screen. When it powers on there is an image of Itunes logo and the usb cord. What happened is I did an update before I backed up my photos the phone worked great after the update no issues till it powered off. When I turned it on again it had those two icons and was forcing me to sync with Itunes to system default which will wipe out my media.

VPN Startup problem after a reboot - a work-around

Hi Folks.
I'm posting this info for those that have problems with Mac OS X 10.4.x server, running a VPN.
(Seems to affect OS X 10.4.4 - 10.4.7 from what I've tested).
I've discovered that lots of people are having troubles after they reboot such a server... The VPN service is running, but if you try to VPN into the server, it won't "authenticate" properly.
I found simply Stopping the VPN service, and then Starting the VPN service, fixes the issue.
That's good to know... But what if you're at home when you discover the VPN isn't running properly? Read on...
Now, while only a work-around... It's enough to get many people running on their VPNs again.
What about automating the process? I'm glad you asked...
Since ServerAdmin commands can be run from Terminal, you can automate a command to run at set periods. I'm no "terminal guru", so I've just set a scheduled task in Remote Desktop 3, to send some unix commands to my VPN server.
The commands are simply as follows, and you need to specify in Remote Desktop, that they run as User: root.
The commands to run:
serveradmin stop vpn
serveradmin start vpn
Set that to run periodically (e.g. once a week, if you reboot your VPN server weekly, for example), and you're set.
(I set this up on a server admin workstation on the LAN, in a secure room, which is always on, with Remote Desktop running).
I'm sure there are probably other ways of scripting such a stop/restart -- perhaps if you have some other ideas, you could post them here?

I had the exact same issue. I just restarted my server for the first time since set up (1 month ago) and VPN stopped working. Then I restarted VPN services and it kicked back into working order. what gives?
Nothing changed on the server, except for a nice little restart.

Itunes ipod movie sync problem

I have a bunch of videos on my ipod but just recently all the movies sort themselves in music instead of movies(on my ipod). when i sync a new movie it sorts itself under movies.
my question is: how do i get all my movies to show up under movies.;
and yes i tried changing the media kind to movie. but that dosnt fix the problem.any help is awesome!

I had something similar happen to me, this is just a shot in the dark. I had set my iTunes to play on a remote speaker that was connected via an Airport Express. Any time a video came up, only the audio part played, because a video can only play on the local machine. I think it's the latest "remote audio" solution.
I had to tell iTunes to play from the local machine, then it was fine.

Bt hub 3, itunes, iphone, ipad syncing problems - not seen

Im using the new infinity BT hub 3 and there are now issues with syncing the iphone, ipad and itunes. iTunes does not see them as devices consistantly and when it does (looking for "device"), it says it is not available to sync (not found on the network) and promply they disappear from the upper right hand corner. BT say it's an itunes issue.
I have tried changing from WPA to WEP but this doesn't work, nor does plugging the computer into the ethernet.
The devices show as being on the network by the router, but are not available to sync in itunes
What do we think people? Any ideas to fix this?

As a fallback you could try using the usb cable rather than wifi.
However to you main problem with the wifi. I to have BT infinity and not only was I having issues with not seeing the devices but also a slow speed of streaming to Apple TV3.
Turns out my issue was interference on the wifi from other wifi networks on the same channel.

Found thayt there seemed to be 3 or 4 houses on channel 6, Changed mine to channel 11, via the BT hub admin page. When everyting settled down again plugged in my devices via USB made sure they were wifi sync enabled and now all works as it should.

IPhone Apps from another iTunes account. Syncing problems.

I had another mac (Ibook G4) and it crashed. I could not use it so I used my husbands account to download some applications and set up my new iphone.
Now I have a new mac. I purchased an application from MY itunes store. When I tried to sync it to my iphone, it started erasing my applications that I purchased through my husbands account.
I tried to back up my applications and add them into my itunes store. It says I can do this at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848.
I did this, but it still says that if I sync it, I will lose all my apps off my iphone. Even though those apps are now in my itunes, I am afraid that if I sync I will lose the apps on my phone and in my application folder on itunes. Does anyone know if that is the case?

You have two different iTunes accounts.
One for you and one for him.
When you try to authorize HIS account on your computer, it says there are already 5 authorized.
You need to Deauthorze all on his account.
Do this...
"*To deauthorize all computers associated with your account*
If you find you have reached 5 authorizations, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen.
Click iTunes Store in the menu on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All."
You will probably need to do it on his computer since you cannot log on with his account.

Then you can authorize is computer again and you can authorize yours.

I've formatted my win7 pc, sync problem

I've formatted my win7 pc from 32 bit to 64 bit and i just backed up an .xml library file from itunes. How can i sync my ipod without erasing any paid apps ? it's not a new computer just formatted, i'm not gonna use any other computer. I've imported library.xml but it just includes songs, Also for now ipod can be seen on my computer but not in itunes.

Since you re-formate you computer your iPod will see it as a new computer.
First get iTunes to see your computer:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
After that you can move iTunes purchases, including your apps. to the "new" compouter by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Also, you can always redownload apps at no additional cost:

If necessary you can transfer non-iTunes music to your computer by using one of the third-part programs discussed in in this previous discussion.
Best iPod to PC
Make sure that the .xml folder/file is actually music and not just a listing of music Ican y place the songe in iTunes on the computer).
After you get everything in your iTunes library, restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and sync your stuff to the iPod. You will lose your app date since you do not have a iPod backup file t restore from.
