  • Windows installed updates and now itunes has gone!

last night windows installed updates as it shut down and now when ive loaded up in the morning itunes has gone. ive tried repairing through add/remove programs, downloading a new version and removing the old version but each time it comes up with this message:
the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unvailable. click ok to try again or enter an alternative path to the folder containing installation package 'itunes.msi'.
does anyone know where to find this or an alternative way of sorting it out?
    cheers.

    Hi
    First sorry to hear that.
Not all is lost. This is what you do.
    1) Goto itunes.com. Install iTunes. Open it. Sign in to itunes so it displays your email address in itunes.
After goto your itunes store in itunes. There is a purchased tab. Click on in. It should list everything you purchased, books, songs, apps. Press the cloud with the down arrow. That will start the download process to your computer. I know the movie part you must download one at a time or it will crash. I hope that helps.

  • ITunes window is gone

    Hi!
I have a problem with iTunes: it's main window is gone. Only minimized window is shown, when I maximize it - no window.
Removing com.apple.iTunes.plist, logout/login both did not help.

Did you upgrade to 8.1 or are you still using 8.0? If not using 8.1 -- DON'T UPGRADE!! You'll have even more problems!!!
I have not had this problem with itunes, but I have had problems with a few other apps like this.
One wack thing to try is this... With the iTunes window minimized -- go to your System preferences -- or your menu bar if you have displays showing -- and choose displays control panel. Change the resolution of your displays to a higher (acceptable resolution for your monitor)- the higher the better. If you are already maxed on resolution then if you are using two monitors -- change the configuration of them by switching the primary monitor to the oppopsite one. Then go back to iTunes and maximize the window again. If still nothinig try this--- Open the Expose'& Spaces control panel and set Expose' keys for All windows to the F2 key or something you can remember -- set the Application windows key to F3 -- exit the Expose' control panel and then press the F2 key to look for the maximized iTunes window -- if nothing press the F3 key to display Application windows -- if still nothing not sure what else to try.

  • Minimizing the Window in iTunes 11 - Gone?

I used to be able to double-click on the title bar to minimize the iTunes window. Now I have to use the minimize button to accomplish this. I rechecked my setting in Appearance and the "Double-click a window's title bar to minimize" is still selected and my other application windows will minimize when this I double-click on them to minimize. Only iTunes 11 seems to have this feature removed.
    Have I missed something?

Okay. I figured out a workaround and a solution. But the solution calls into question Apple's design.
First the workaround. For some reason I had a suspicion that Mission Control would work so I hit the F3 key and that gave me a couple of windows, one of which was the desktop. By clicking on that I was able to move away from iTunes.
The "solution" is a ittle strange. I noticed that my wife's computer did not have the same problem so I tried to figure out why that might be the case. I realized that I usually run programs maximized. With the previous versions of iTiunes - and all other programs - that was not a problem because you were still given the green, red, and yellow buttons. But Apple got rid of those with this version of iTunes - but only when it's maximized. Which makes no sense. If iTunes is not maximized then you will be able to see the dock and you can switch to another program with no problem. But if it's maximized then it hides the dock and you can't minimize it. It makes absolutely no sense. It's exactly the opposite of what common sense would dictate. The solution: get iTunes out of the maximized mode so that the red, green and yellow buttons return. How? If you mouse up to the top of the screen, the menu bar will reappear. On the far right side of that is a litlle blue box with up and down arrows at a 45 degree angle. Click on that and you'll go out of the maximized mode and the little red, green and yellow boxes will reappear. But why is Apple making things harder for us rather than easier? That's the question.

  • I attempted to update itunes (Windows 7) it didn't work, after several tries I uninstalled itunes completely, and now I cannot get it to reinstall correctly. help?

Had issues upon updating iTunes to newest version (11).
The display settings were not working, I tried to run it in compatibility mode for Windows 7 Service Pack 2, which i'm currently running.
Still had major issues, couldn't click anywhere on the iTunes window, the only thing I could click was file but even then the dropdown menu wasn't working correctly.
I tried several times to adjust my computers' settings to accomodate the new version, and still nothing worked.
I got fed up, and uninstalled the lastest version and now I am having trouble reinstalling.
I tried the latest version a few more times, and now when I click download on the site link, it doesn't even prompt the download window in Mozilla.
It doesn't create a location anywhere within my computer either.
I downloaded 10.7 in hopes of that maybe working, I figured because I haven't updated the iOS on my phone, and my computer is still a little behind that this might help, but it says,
"itunes library.itl cannot be read" and something to do with having a new version of the file already.
I just want to have some version of itunes on here, I still have Bonjour, though I think with the issues I am having the Software update must be gone along with any itunes program I previously had.
I cannot restore any previous versions because I haven't backed it up on to anything for quite some time.
I just want to manage my iPhone 4 again, and this is driving me nuts.
    Any help is very appreciated,
    thanks for reading.

The Problem is resolved by :
Click on the "Start" button. Click "Run." Type the word "cmd" in the open box. When the DOS screen comes up, type "netsh winsock reset." Press "Enter." Type "exit" to close the DOS window and go back to Windows.
    Restart the computer.

  • Why can't I drag and drop music from a folder on my PC into my iTunes window?

Why can't I drag and drop music from a folder on my PC into my iTunes window?
I have not found any article that has answered this question. They have come up with things like open the side bar and it will work, or you are using wrong format of music. Now this all happened when I upgraded to iTunes 10 and has not worked since and it worked fine before. Music format is correct, I have even gone as far as copying a file already in iTunes and trying to add it again. As soon as the files enters the frame of iTunes the music files icon the pointer is carrying turns into a circle with a slash through it.
ITunes Ver. is 11.1.5.5  Windows Ver. is Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center
Files I have tried adding are standard MP3, 256 kbps purchased AAC Audio file, MP3 converted by iTunes into a 256 or 320 kbps AAC Audio file. None can be draged and droped but all can added by going to File/Add File to Library...  or File/Add Folder to Library...
Add items from your computer to your iTunes library
    Do either of the following:
    1. Drag a file or folder from the desktop to the iTunes window. If you add a folder, all the files it contains are added to your library.
    2. In iTunes, choose File > Add to Library, locate a file or folder, and click Open.
I can add files and folders by doing number 2 above but can not doing number 1
I have gone as far as uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling per apple procedures below.
    Steps
    1. Remove iTunes and its related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended effects.

I had this problem on Windows 8.1.1 and iTunes 11.2.2.3
To resolve it from within Itunes I did :  Edit, Preferences, Sharing.
I took the tick out of "Share my library on my local network"
    Click OK.
    Closed iTunes/
Reopened iTunes and I can drag and drop.
I went back into Edit, Preferences, Sharing and put the tick back and clicked OK.
    Works fine now.

  • Backed up my songs from itunes onto a hard drive and now my playlists in itunes are gone! How do I retrieve them back to the way it was before?

Help! My husband backed up my songs from itunes onto a hard drive and now my playlists in itunes are gone from my library! How do I retrieve them back to the way it was before?

    Hello Nataroo007,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
There is a file in the iTunes library folder that contains your playlist information is the iTunes Library.xml file.
Try and find the file, usually located in one of these locations depending on your OS:
    Operating System
    Default location of iTunes Folder
    Mac OS X
    /Users/[your username]/Music
    Microsoft Windows XP
    \Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\
    Microsoft Windows Vista
    \Users\[your username]\Music\
    Microsoft Windows 7
    \Users\[your username]\My Music\
Then you can import this file to your iTunes Library like this:
    1. Choose File > Library > Import Playlist.
    2. Navigate to the "iTunes Library.xml" file
    3. Windows users: Click Open.
If your Podcasts list in iTunes is empty after following these steps, learn how to add them back into iTunes.
Note: information in this post comes from article:

  • ITunes Window in MacBook Doesn't Display

When I launch iTunes, the iTunes window does not display. The program appears to be working. When I attach my iTouch or iPod, I see activity reported that these devices are syncing but without the iTunes Window, I can't use the software. I have gone through all the iTunes Menu Bar options which is visible on my screen, but to no avail. I can't get the iTunes window to display. Any ideas? Did I inadvertently hide the window through use of a hot key combination?

    HI,
*"Did I inadvertently hide the window through use of a hot key combination? "*
I've done that more than once
Open System Preferences/Expose and Spaces. Select the Expose tab. Check your settings in Expose.
Also, try System Preferences/Desktop & Screen Saver. Select the Hot Corners tab and check settings there also.

  • I can't see the top of itunes window

After updating to the 10.4 version, the top of the itunes window is hidden (where the file edit view etc. are displayed). The bottom of the window also isn't touching the bottom of my screen either so it seems like some sort of allignment issue. Thanks in advance

That link is everywhere as an answer to this question! Well, it is now outdated or dead, and provides no help to people like me whose source list has gone missing. Someone please help.
I have no source list and no cute little bar with cute little dot. It literally looks like they fell off the left side of the iTunes window, and no amount of resizing, dragging, or rebooting will draw them back out.
If anyone knows how to fix this without referring to Scott Patrie, please let me know. In the meantime I will be gouging my eyes out with a plastic letter opener while I rue bitterly the day my boyfriend gave me this crappy iPod. Thank you.

  • IPad (4th Gen Retina Display Wi-Fi) (iOS 7.0.4) won't sync new music from iTunes (Windows).  Only solution found was to uncheck "Sync Music" under Music tab, apply, then recheck "Sync Music" and apply. Any other solution?

iPad (Retina Display) (iOS 7.0.4) won't sync new music from iTunes (Windows).  Only solution found was to uncheck "Sync Music" under Music tab, apply, then recheck "Sync Music" and apply.  This is timely and aggravating.  Any other solution?
I have also tried a hard reset.  I have also gone into settings and checked "display all music".
Anyone know if the new update will have solutions to this problem?

    Successful experience with Apple Care.
If anyone is having the same problem, there's a chance it's an issue with the Mobile Device Manager for iTunes. The key is to ditch the old/corrupt file and replace it via clean iTunes installation.
Here's the fix that worked for me:
    1. Trash iTunes (uninstall); don't forget to trash it from your dock if you have it there.
    2. Head to /System/Library/Extensions/ and trash file AppleMobileDevice.kext
    3. Head to /Library/Receipts/ and trash AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg  ( * this may or may not be there * )
    4. Restart computer (& empty trash)
    5. Download fresh & clean iTunes and reinstall.
Voila! The content is now properly recognized by iTunes, the capacity bar registers the correct amount and type beyond "Other", and now I can put music back on the iPad.

  • 10.5.5: background iTunes window shadow artifacts

Since upgrading to 10.5.5, I now see artifacts in the shadow of any iTunes window when it is not in mouse focus. This happens to both the main iTunes window or the detached viewer window, whether playing something or not. When the window gets mouse focus it looks normal.
    Here is an example:
    http://www.janmoralesphoto.com/downloads/ten55artifact.jpg

Interesting. Just now Software Update popped up with two new updates (Remote Desktop Client Update and Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update), and now after the update and reboot the shadow artifact is gone from iTunes. How odd.

  • I downloaded the latest update yesterday and now itune is gone from my pc because it didn't download correctly

I downloaded the latest update yesterday and now itunes is gone from my toshiba laptop.  I get a message msvcr80.dll. Any suggestions why

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Movie window takes over iTunes window

Movies are no longer playing in a separate window -- movies take over the iTunes window, and I no longer have View options for changing the movie window size (command-1, command-2, command-3)
Have iTunes 10.4 -- not sure if the problem started after last update or not. Using OS 10.6.8 - have not installed Lion yet, although the app is sitting in my dock.
The option "Use Full Windows for iTunes Store" in View menu is deselected.
I miss my movie window -- anybody know how to fix this? I hope this isn't a "feature".

Ok duh, found the View menu option for selecting video playback in separate window, but still can't find the keyboard controls for changing the window size. Are they gone?

  • IPod touch (1G) won't connect to iTunes Windows 7

iPod touch firmware is 3.1.3. iTunes is version 10.3.1.55. Windows 7 is Professional version, 64-bit.
I've found a number of web posts about this issue dating back to 2009, but none of those solve my issue or exactly describe it. I can put my iPod touch into Device Recovery Mode, connect to iTunes, and restore the iPod, but once that is done, I cannot connect the device to iTunes (Windows 7 64-bit mode).  However, I can connect the iPod to my Vista laptop, and I can connect the iPod to my Windows 7 machine if I run iTunes in the XP Mode virtual machine (32 bit).  I've gone through the steps looking for a conflicting USB service, and if there is one, it's part of Windows 7.  This started after I updated iTunes recently, but I'm not sure that had anything to do with it since I had not connected it in a while, and the first thing I did was update iTunes.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance. -john
