ITunes window jumps to the front every 30 seconds

So I recently downloaded the latest version of iTunes, and ever since, when I have iTunes open, the program window jumps to the front of all the windows I have open every 30 seconds. It's INSANELY annoying. I can be in the middle of typing something on another window such as Internet Explorer or Microsoft word, and the iTunes window will jump to the front (it happened 3 times while I was typing this).
I have Windows Vista.

Hey there georgeboo,
It sounds like Safari shoots off the side of the sceen shortly after you launch it. I want to recommend a few things here. First, reset your PRAM and perform a Safe Boot and test the issue.
About NVRAM and PRAM
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure your settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information.
Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564
Safe Mode is the state into which you can start up your Mac by performing a Safe Boot. To perform a Safe Boot, press and hold the Shift key immediately after your Mac starts up. Continue holding down the Shift key until a gray Apple logo appears on the screen.
If the issue persists, I would next try resetting Safari:

  • How do I stop Itunes from jumping to the top every time I delete an artist?

Everytime I delete an artist from my Itunes, I am brought back to the top of my list and have to scroll down to where I left off, EVERY TIME. This is very frustrating.

i have even turned off itunes helper in the log in menu.
Did you remove iTunes Helper from your Login Items?
If not, you need to remove it from the Login iTunes. Checking an item in your Login Items list hides the item during startup, it doesn't turn it off or not checking the item doesn't turn it off. You need to remove it from your Login Items list if not removed.

  • How do I get iTunes to not jump to the front after it's done burning a cd?

    Hello,
I'm re-ripping all of my CDs in higher resolution formats. Currently I'm doing this via an Automator script. I insert a CD and then have it automatically rip first as WAV filed, second as an Apple Lossless filed and then finally as a 320kps mp3s.
The problem is everytime iTunes completes one of these rips the program pops to the front. I'm trying to rip all these CDs during the day while I'm working and it's very annoying to have iTunes continously jump to the front while I'm working in other programs.
Is there anyway to stop iTunes from notifying me it's finished ripping by poping over all my other open programs?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

Setting a common Album Artist for each Album does most of the work. For deeper problems see Grouping tracks into albums.
In general you need to make sure that all the values in the tags are used consistently. Same spelling, same capitalization, same accents, no leading, trailing, or multiple spaces, and each value of Artist, Album Artist or Album should only be associated with one value of Sort Artist, Sort Album Artist or Sort Album respectively.

  • ITunes window keeps poping up to front every few seconds

Hello, My iTunes (10.5.2.11) on Win 7 (x86) keeps popping up to the front every few seconds even though there's no message box or bullitin. This might have something to do with every time I start iTunes I get a warning that some of the registry keys are currupted for some iTunes CD drivers and that I should re-install iTunes. This however doesn't help because I've done a complete uninstall, removed all remaining iTunes registry keys, and deleted all related iTunes files and reinstalled the program. Even after all that, I still get the same error. It might have something to do with the fact that the internal CD drive (on my/this laptop) is not functional.

Update: One of the kernel updates fixed it. I don't know exactly which version fixed it.

  • How do I stop iTunes from being brought to the front every time I rip a CD?

It used to be that "Hide iTunes Windows" will do the trick. With the new iTunes, it stops doing it. I have over a thousand CD and it is getting annoying having iTunes keep popping up with each CD I put into my computer to get it rip, especially when I am working on other stuff.
    Thanks!

Two places to set your prefs.
1 is in the System Prefs>Hardware>CD/DVD.
    2 is in iTunes prefs>Advanced>Importing.
Set your prefs in those 2 places and all should be well.

  • Windows Explorer was crashing/restarting every few seconds and after trying several different methods of fixes, the only one that worked was removing Firefox, is there something I've missed that I can get Firefox back?

I'm running a Toshiba Satellite laptop that was originally running Windows Vista 32-bit, but was upgraded by me to Windows 7 32-bit. On Windows Vista, all I would run was Firefox. I loved it!!! On Windows 7, I've noticed that Firefox kept hanging whenever I would try to download a file...from anywhere. I got so frustrated I went to try several different browsers. They all worked extremely quickly, whereas Firefox was working so slow, I could click on a link to a page, go get some lunch, come back and it still be trying to load the page. This was drastically unusual for Firefox. I used the other browsers and everything was fine for a week and then Windows Explorer started going down every few seconds. I went to the windows 7 forums and started looking. There were several suggestions on how to fix the problem, none of which worked for my compy. I tried restarting the compy in safe mode. That didn't help. I turned off every startup program except for the essentials and that DID work in keeping Windows Explorer from restarting. I then dove into the tedious task of trying to discern which 3rd party program was the offender. I removed everything from my compy that had been downloaded in the last ten days (well before the windows explorer issue, but not before the firefox issue). That didn't work either. I tried replacing an explorer file, which didn't work either. There were several other things I tried, as well, but nothing worked. Then, I saw a post that Firefox had caused the problem for one person. I went in and did as was suggested and completely removed Firefox and all associated files. Unfortunately, this worked. I haven't had any more trouble with windows explorer restarting. My big problem is, however, I can't run Firefox!!! And I LOVE Firefox!!! It's spoiled me! I hate Internet explorer, which is what I'm forced to run now. I've tried Safari and Google Chrome and don't like either one of those, either. I want my Firefox back! But if it's not working 100% it's less frustrating to be forced to live with the Internet Explorer. I'm going insane, here! Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried clearing out browser history, changing download files and a couple of other things and nothing worked with the Firefox to get it going better before I started having the Windows Explorer difficulty and had to completely erase the Firefox program. If I've missed any info, please don't hesitate to ask!! I'm happy to supply whatever I know about the issue!!

uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. I use firefox for so many, many years thta I deserve this kind of support .. thnx Robert

  • Why does firefox jump to the front after i hide it in mac os x lion?

Just installed Lion a week ago and ever since, when i have firefox open and i hide it to do something else, every 40 seconds or so Firefox automatically jumps to the front in finder no matter what i am doing.

When watching my Apple TV (3rd gen) the picture jumps a few frames every few seconds, this happens when I rent a film or play back from my new Mac Pro, my Wifi is the Airport Express.

These may be different issues, but lets look at rentals first.
Poor motion can result from mismatched output. If your source is 24 or 30 fps you should set the output of the Apple TV to 60 Hz, for 25 fps content use 50 Hz.
Additionally motion software on the TV itself can cause the picture to jump, check your TV settings and turn off any motion settings in use,

  • Make all open finder windows come to the front?

Things that used to be so simple on the Mac are now so complicated.
I have a bunch of finder windows open. Most of them are hidden behind other application windows, like my browser.
I used to be able to click anywhere on the desktop to make all windows come to the front. No longer. Later, I could do it by mousing all the way over to the Dock and clicking on the Finder icon there. Now even that doesn't work!
How the heck do you simply make all open finder windows come to the front???

DrBeckenstein:What to use in its place though? The utilities of choice for Mac OS X are Tech Tool Pro and Disk Warrior. Both of these pick up where Disk Utility leave off. When DU reports errors it cannot repair, you turn to one or the other of these two. Many Mac users like Disk Warrior for it excellent work in repairing and rebuilding directories. I use TTP because it not only does excellent work with directories, but it also does hardware checks, disk optimization, files checks, eDrive (emergency boot drive) etc. In the long run, though, it is largely a matter of personal preference.
Again, I don't know what maintenance procedures you employ, but our Systems get rather sluggish sometimes as caches fill up, preference files become corrupted, the need for Unix maintenance allow CRONs to build up. Here are a few sites that offer good suggestions and links to resources:
    1. Macintosh OS X Routine Maintenance
    2. Maintaining Mac OS X

    4. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607640&#607640
I mentioned in my earlier post that if the problem is essentially with one application you can go into Home Folder > Library > Preferences, find the .plis for that application, drag it to the desktop and restart. Check to see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't you can replace the new .plist created with the one on the desktop, or just drag the desktop copy to the Trash.
In your situation I would run Repair Disk from the install CD, then implement some of the suggestions on maintenance.
One other thing to note: a too full HDD can cause problems. If it is over 50% full it could need disk optimization. If have near 85% of available capacity used, you are running a risk not only of compromised performance, but also of directory overlapping and, eventually of a crash.
    Good luck.

  • Bring a windows program to the front

I searched for this but didn't find anything that answered my question.
Is it possible to control programatically which windows programs are at the front?
So if I was running a vi (which is on top) and I needed to automatically bring a running windows program to the front??
Then when I was done bring the running vi back to the front.
    How can that be done?
    Thanks
    Rick.

  • Streaming freezing while playing, unless I touch the screen every few seconds to keep the streaming actively flowing.

Streaming from iPad, through an app and the streaming will stop unless I touch the screen which seems to wake it up and will begin from where it stopped. Can anyone tell me why it does this? Kind of makes watching something a little annoying. It's as if the iPad goes to sleep, which stops the streaming. Is there a way to keep the streaming going without having to touch the screen every few seconds to have a the streaming continue as a steady feed?
    Thanks,
    David H.

If you are streaming through an app it may need it to be awake so it can receive the feed on the iPad and then airplay it, depending on how  the app functions. You can set the auto lock to never

  • Email window jumps to the background while typing an email

I am using OS version 10.7.1 and mail version 5.0.  For some reason, and I can't really isolate what is causing it, when I am typing the window will jump to the background.  It seems to occur most often when I am typing an address in the "To" section.  I will just hit a key, and the window will disappear to the background.  I then click "window" and see it and bring it to the front, but it is becoming a real problem.  has anyone else had this problem?  I searched the forums and could find an answer.
    Thanks

I meant to say, couldn't find an answer in the forums.

  • Is there a way to have the iTunes window displayed on the Mac display and the visualizer window on an alternate display simultaneously?

I am using a mini-Display port to VGA adapter connecter from my MacBook Pro to the VGA cable out of the back of my TV and for some reason my iTunes window will not display the visualiser at the same time on the TV.  I can get them to play on diffrent Desktops in mIssion control but as soon as i make either of them full screen (which is what i want) it seems that one overrides the other and the screen of the non-fullscreen app goes blank I also cannot control the 4-finger horizontal swipe independantly on each screen.  If i swipe on the mac, the TV swipes as well and vice versa.
Any advice or help i can get would be much appreciated and beofre anyone suggests mirroring the screen, that would not work as i would only get one app.

Open System Preference > Time Machine
    Click Options....
Ckick on external disk in list and hit the - button below the list to remove from the Exclusion list

  • Messages window jumping around the screen

I just updated to OS X Yosemite, and I'm having a strange issue with the Messages application window.
    Here's the scenario:
I have Messages and Safari open at the same time.
I click on Safari to bring it forward and work with a page.
I then click back on Messages after receiving a message.
The message input field does not automatically get focus, so I click on it to give it focus.
The Message window "jumps" down to the bottom of the screen, with the bottom of the window behind the dock.
I can actually type my message, but I have to drag the Message window back up from behind the dock.
Any way I can "pin down" a window so it doesn't jump like this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi All,
This is a bit of a known issue with no real fix yet.
It seems it is worse if the Messages window is grabbed right at the top edge when the change size icon then appears.
Of course you can "slide" a click as it were to that spot .
Some have said it effects trackpads more then mouse systems but I have seen no real proof of that.
I have seen it once in Terminal as well  (a badly aimed click with a bit of drag that then dangled th Terminal window for a moment).
I have seen  all Macs listed as suffering from this, Retina Displays, no Retina  ones, Laptops and desktops and so on.
