ITunes window settings

how can i reset the default window settings of iTunes back to default (position and dimensions)?
i don't mind going into the registry, i'd just like to know where it's located.
i'm kind a perfectionist and really want iTunes to be centered/resized but i accidentally dragged it.
i googled a similar thread but it was mac only.

It should back everything up before it restores or you can do a manual backup by Control-clicking (Shift-click I think on a PC) on the iPod icon in iTunes and select "Backup now."

can anyone point me to the "Click Settings at the bottom of the iTunes window."? I'm trying to do home sharing between a iMac and MacBook Air, but I don't understand the directions in itunes.

Replaying to myself, I found what was causing the problem.
I have an Ubuntu machine and I was making some test to stream to Airport Express from Ubuntu.
Under Pulseaudio preferneces I had checked "Make discoverable Apple Airtunes sound devices available locally" for tests some months ago.
Unchecking it solves the problem.

I am new to iTunes and Mac.
I have added tracks to my ITunes but they are messed up.
Firstly, please guide me how to bring my iTunes back to factory settings

Secondly, Please guide me how to add my song folders like the way I have sorted them on my hard disk. I do not want them to sorted the way iTunes sort, like by artists, genre etc
Please please help me, I am feeling very helpless on this issue.

hold option (⌥) on your keyboard while launching iTunes. at the prompt, click on create new library.

go iTunes > preferences > advanced and uncheck the copy ... when adding option. now drag the files/folder(s) from their current location into an open iTunes window.

Why does my iTunes window freeze and wont close until i shut my computer down, when the "iTunes is not the default media player" message appears? and how do i fix this? i just want to fix my music, but it freezes and i can't use my computer correctly.

when i plug my iPod into my computer, iTunes opens as normal, but for a while it's been giving me a message that says "iTunes is not the default media player" and after i 'tried' to do that, i'll close the settings window and my iTunes window will freeze and not close, reload, or anything. and if i "open drvice to view files" that window will freeze too, the internal storage window. i can't get iTunes to close with ALT+F4, or right clicking the tab on the bottom of the screen to close it, or clicking the 'X' button. the only way it closes is when i shut down my computer. please help me fix this. Its getting Really Really tiring having to restart my computer over and over.

I attempted to update itunes (Windows 7) it didn't work, after several tries I uninstalled itunes completely, and now I cannot get it to reinstall correctly. help?

Had issues upon updating iTunes to newest version (11).
The display settings were not working, I tried to run it in compatibility mode for Windows 7 Service Pack 2, which i'm currently running.
Still had major issues, couldn't click anywhere on the iTunes window, the only thing I could click was file but even then the dropdown menu wasn't working correctly.
I tried several times to adjust my computers' settings to accomodate the new version, and still nothing worked.
I got fed up, and uninstalled the lastest version and now I am having trouble reinstalling.
I tried the latest version a few more times, and now when I click download on the site link, it doesn't even prompt the download window in Mozilla.
It doesn't create a location anywhere within my computer either.
I downloaded 10.7 in hopes of that maybe working, I figured because I haven't updated the iOS on my phone, and my computer is still a little behind that this might help, but it says,
"itunes library.itl cannot be read" and something to do with having a new version of the file already.
I just want to have some version of itunes on here, I still have Bonjour, though I think with the issues I am having the Software update must be gone along with any itunes program I previously had.
I cannot restore any previous versions because I haven't backed it up on to anything for quite some time.
I just want to manage my iPhone 4 again, and this is driving me nuts.

The Problem is resolved by :
Click on the "Start" button. Click "Run." Type the word "cmd" in the open box. When the DOS screen comes up, type "netsh winsock reset." Press "Enter." Type "exit" to close the DOS window and go back to Windows.
Restart the computer.

Running iTunes as another user - iTunes window keeps popping up

My missus and I have one iPod and want to just use one library on iTunes (hers). Therefore when I want to use iTunes, I run it under her user credentials ("Run as" option in Windows XP).
This loads her library & settings no problem, but the iTunes window pops to the front every 30 seconds, even when minimised to the system tray. Obviously this totally interrupts what I am doing on the PC.
I believe this has only started happening since iTunes was updated to 9.0.2.25. Note - this symptom doesn't happen if I run iTunes under my own credentials, or if the missus is logged on it doesn't happen to her. Both PC accounts are full administrators.

ITunes Window in MacBook Doesn't Display

When I launch iTunes, the iTunes window does not display. The program appears to be working. When I attach my iTouch or iPod, I see activity reported that these devices are syncing but without the iTunes Window, I can't use the software. I have gone through all the iTunes Menu Bar options which is visible on my screen, but to no avail. I can't get the iTunes window to display. Any ideas? Did I inadvertently hide the window through use of a hot key combination?

I've done that more than once
Open System Preferences/Expose and Spaces. Select the Expose tab. Check your settings in Expose.
Also, try System Preferences/Desktop & Screen Saver. Select the Hot Corners tab and check settings there also.

ITunes Window Apparently Too Small

I just received a 160 GB iPod classic as a gift and tried syncing it with my iTunes. It prompted me to download a more current version of iTunes so I downloaded iTunes 7.5. I cant do anything with my new iPod because I'm stuck at the software license agreement screen, I clicked on "I have read and agree to the Software License Agreement" but the only two options on-screen that I can see are to cancel and save, neither of which do anything. I've tried unsuccessfully to expand the iTunes screen and even uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. Nothing works. It seems like such a simple problem but it has been aggravating for the past few hours or so. Anyone have any solutions?

Going back to the suggestion by mmu1253397, what is your screen resolution? Your resolution may be too small (640x480 or 800x600 for instance). If you right click on your desktop, choose properties, then go to the settings tab, you can increase your screen resolution (drag the slider to the right). By doing so, you shrink the size of everything on your desktop, thereby allowing you to display more (including more of a maximized window). I'm running iTunes on three different PCs with resolutions of 1024x768 and 1600x1200 and have had no issues displaying the complete iTunes window.

"Other" catergory in iTunes window?

In the iPod category in the iTunes window, there is a bar for audio, but next to it, there is a small orange bar that says "Other" which is taking 289.5 MB. What does this other category contain?

SOLUTION?
First of all, thanks to the folks at Apple, who replaced my iPod Shuffle, notwithstanding it was a week or so out of warranty. They dealt with me professionally and helpfully the whole time. They even engraved the replacement iPod to match the one I was returning, all at no charge.
When I got my new iPod shuffle, the same thing happened. D'Oh! So I reckon my old shuffle was indeed not faulty (read thanks to Apple above [sheepish grin]).
I have since been able to restore factory settings on a friend's computer using iTunes. On returning to my computer, the problem promptly re-ocurred. I was able to re-format using FAT32 on another PC on which iTunes was not loaded, and things were OK again - for a little while.
I have since traced the problem to an unspecified hardware or software problem that is somehow associated with plugging a Logitech Bluetooth dongle into the docking station to my laptop. With the laptop undocked, or the dongle unplugged, everyhting iPod-esque works fine.
The problem appears to be associated with a bit of Logitech software (SetPoint) which runs the media centre controls on my keyboard. iTunes gets fussy about shutting down when the keyboard is connected, noting that another program is trying to access its controls. It may be that the Logitech media controls were being loaded onto my iPod.
Point is, with the laptop undocked, or the dongle unplugged, iTunes and the iPod Shuffle work fine. Now I sync with the laptop undocked, and things are fine.
So I might suggest checking to see if there is some other media controller at work here. Try and restore factory settings on a friend's machine, or reformat the drive in windows on another machine.

ITunes window jumps to the front every 30 seconds

So I recently downloaded the latest version of iTunes, and ever since, when I have iTunes open, the program window jumps to the front of all the windows I have open every 30 seconds. It's INSANELY annoying. I can be in the middle of typing something on another window such as Internet Explorer or Microsoft word, and the iTunes window will jump to the front (it happened 3 times while I was typing this).
I have Windows Vista.

It sounds like Safari shoots off the side of the sceen shortly after you launch it. I want to recommend a few things here. First, reset your PRAM and perform a Safe Boot and test the issue.

Successful experience with Apple Care.
If anyone is having the same problem, there's a chance it's an issue with the Mobile Device Manager for iTunes. The key is to ditch the old/corrupt file and replace it via clean iTunes installation.
Here's the fix that worked for me:
1. Trash iTunes (uninstall); don't forget to trash it from your dock if you have it there.
2. Head to /System/Library/Extensions/ and trash file AppleMobileDevice.kext
3. Head to /Library/Receipts/ and trash AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg ( * this may or may not be there * )
4. Restart computer (& empty trash)
5. Download fresh & clean iTunes and reinstall.
Voila! The content is now properly recognized by iTunes, the capacity bar registers the correct amount and type beyond "Other", and now I can put music back on the iPad.

Artwork is shown in iTunes window, but not on iPod Touch

All of my albums' artwork are showing up in the iTunes window, but here in the last few days, some have disappeared from my iPod Touch and some are showing the wrong album cover (wrong artist and all) even though the artist and album name are correct in the info for the song. I have tried syncing it a number of times an it hasn't helped. Can anyone help??

You're probably going to have to restore it to factory settings and sync it again.
There used to be an option not to sync artwork that you could toggle off and on to fix it, but that has been removed.

Help! I've tried all the steps in this thread and am still unable to distribute to a phone using iTunes on Windows.
In summary, I've created and built an app on my Mac Mini and deployed it to my phone using an ad-hoc provision generated by the developer portal. Taking the same app-bundle and mobile provisioning file to a windows computer and attempting to deploy it to another phone, produces this error:
"Could not be installed because it could not be verified"
I'm trying to figure out why this is failing, surely one of the many steps I've taken is not quite right.
Here are the details:
I created device ids for two phones we’d like to test.
I am using iTunes on a mac.
Then, using the developer portal, I created an ad-hoc provisioning profile for an appID I created earlier.
Then, using XCode, I configured the signing of my app to use the provisioning profile just created.
Then, using iTunes on my mac, I dragged the app bundle and provisioning profile to the applications panel.
Then I clicked sync – it succeeded and the app works on my phone.
Looking in the settings on my phone, I see a profile for the ad-hoc provision.
I emailed the app and the provisioning profile to my brother to install on the other phone.
Using iTunes on windows, he dagged the app (directory) and provisioning profile to the applications panel.
He clicked sync – it failed – "Could not be installed because it could not be verified"
Looking in the settings on my brother’s phone, we see no profile for the ad-hoc provision.
