ITunes (Windows 8.1) can't see iPhone 5 after upgraded to 11.1.4.62

I can't see my iPhone 5 anymore. However, Windows file explorer can see it fine. Does anyone know how to resolve the issue?

Marc...I think you are confused by what I am trying to say. For your iPhone to be seen by your computer/iTunes you must have a good install. I suspect that you have a bad install of iTunes "On Your COMPUTER" To fix this (and it has worked for many other users) You need to delete/uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support and Quick Time from "your COMPUTER".
Download a new copy of iTunes from the apple web site and reinstall. I am only trying to assist you, this is not a windows versus mac thing...this is a user help user forum, I do not (and you can check my posts) play the this is better then that game.
I want to help you fix your problem which I just did with another user have a similiar problem to yours, so that you can enjoy your iPhone like the others that assist in these forums.

Help - I can't see my NAS after upgrade to Mountain Lion OS on my macbook air. I just see a blank window using command+shift+K -- used to see my drive.

Check with the manufacturer of your NAS, there may be a patch/firmware update available, or one in the works. Not all software/hardware manufacturers get their drivers, or updates, to Apple in time for distribution, or they haven't tested their products with ML.

HT4906 Can't see photos after upgrade to 5s

Hi all, I just updated my phone from a 4 to a 5s. The problem I'm having is that when I open camera I can see there's 842 of 842 photos in the camera but unfortunately I can't see any of the images - they're all greyed. There's a little cirlcle spinning and it says loading but nothing appears to happen. Scared I've lost them! I tried looking at them through instagram and same thing. HELP please

Can only see iphone in itunes on imac. can't see iphone in devices on imac.

I could previously see my iphone in my 'devices' on my imac. When I connect it now, it is only visible in 'itunes'. I now have no control over what I want copied from my imac to my iphone. Don't understand why the phone does not appear in devices when I connect it to the imac.

O.K. I've spent more time trying to figure this out----hours, actually, wasted.
I have found a solution that just now worked for me.
I connected my iPhone 5 to a 'Lightning to 30-pin Adapter.'
Then, I connected this configuration to a known 30-pin USB cable that works fine with my iPhone 3GS and iPad [Second generation].
Immediately, my iMac, as well as iTunes, recognized my iPhone 5.
Synchronization between my iPhone 5 and iTunes went off "without a hitch."
I don't know if this combination will work for me more than this one time. I'll try again after I've added more music to iTunes, tomorrow.
Maybe this solution will work for others having this same software/hardware configuration.

Thank you for your question. It sounds like you are unable to see either of your devices in the sidebar of iTunes after a recent update. A number of issues could cause this type of behaviour, and would recommend starting with the troubleshooting from the article named:

You can't see a list of when gift cards or other credits were added to your account, but if you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option you should see your account's balance and any credits that you have on it
