Itunes - windows load - transfer to Mac?

I just ordered a new Macbook and currently have a Thinkpad. It's not arriving until next week and wanted to start loading my music into itunes on my pc; then transfer the files to my new Macbook itunes.
Is this possible or do I just have to wait until my macbook arrives?
Thanks.

  • Windows Library transfer to Mac

I have an old Viao with a large iTuns library. How do I transfer this data to my new MacBook?

Are all of your songs on your iPod purchased music from the iTunes store? Because as far as I know only purchased music can be transfered from your iPod to your iTunes, and that is only with iTunes 7.
When i moved my windows music to my mac a few months ago i Used this
    Senuti - Mac Only
    http://www.fadingred.org/senuti/
It has very good instructions, worked well for me. Took my music off my ipod and onto my mac, then I was able to import it into my library.

  • Is there a way to have the iTunes window displayed on the Mac display and the visualizer window on an alternate display simultaneously?

I am using a mini-Display port to VGA adapter connecter from my MacBook Pro to the VGA cable out of the back of my TV and for some reason my iTunes window will not display the visualiser at the same time on the TV.  I can get them to play on diffrent Desktops in mIssion control but as soon as i make either of them full screen (which is what i want) it seems that one overrides the other and the screen of the non-fullscreen app goes blank I also cannot control the 4-finger horizontal swipe independantly on each screen.  If i swipe on the mac, the TV swipes as well and vice versa.
Any advice or help i can get would be much appreciated and beofre anyone suggests mirroring the screen, that would not work as i would only get one app.

Open System Preference > Time Machine

  • How To : Sync playlists from iOS device back to itunes - Windows

How To : How To : Sync playlists from iOS device back to itunes - Windows (May work on Mac too)
NOTE - THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE THE MUSIC FILES ON THE COMPUTER ALREADY
If your like me and format your computers only to discover that you've lost all those time consuming playlists that you spent hours on, well your in luck.
Without any Third-Pary programs it's possible to save those awesome playlists, and pull them back from the blink of oblivion.
Step 1 - Connect iDevice to your computer and then open iTunes.
Step 2 - Locate your iDevice on the left side bar on iTunes under the heading 'Devices', click the arrow on the left of the devices name and select a playlist.
Step 3 - Right-Click the selected playlist and choose 'Export playlist', Save it as a Text file.
Step 4 - In iTunes, up the top click 'File' then locate Library, move across to 'Import Playlist...', Select the playlist you just created and click open.
Step 5 - Your playlist will appear on the left side bar under the heading 'Playlists', Select the playlist and attempt to play one of the songs contained.
Step 6 - You would have been prompted that iTunes doesnt see the file, select 'Locate' and then go to the location of your music and locate the file.
(Sorry dont have an image for this one due to having all my music already found)
Step 7 - Doing this once will find all the music in the playlist given that it's in a similar location of the song you found.
Congrats you have successfully moved a playlist back from oblivion

    There's a different method.
    1. On iTunes -> Devices -> <your device> -> Summary -> Check Manually manage music and videos.
    2. On iTunes -> Devices -> <your device> -> Summary -> uncheck Manually manage music and videos.
    done.

  • I've lost my complete iTunes window

I've had iTunes installed for at least a year, and I've never had this happen. Just now when I turned my set on and clicked on the iTunes icon, a little window about 1" X 4" appeared on my screen. This window contained only one song, although it was possible to go backward and forward on the iTunes song list. I don't want a one-song window, I want what I've had since I installed iTunes: a window showing all of the songs in my iTunes librry.
I've tried closing-out iTunes, and I've tried turning my computer off and on, but it doesn't help. When I come back, I'm faced with that little, unwanted window. How can I restore the full iTunes window?

    According to Mac (Finder) Help:
"The three buttons in the top-left corner let you
close, minimize (shrink), and zoom (enlarge) the
    window."
    Shirley
Okay, Shirley, I guess I'll just have to expand my definition of "enlarge". What you helped me do was to perform a transformation rather than an enlargement, at least the way I see things. I had one little window devoted to one little song and then I had the whole ball of wax.THAT'S an enlargement! No it isn't, that's a transformation, that's a galactic shift. In any event, it is what it is, and I'll keep it in mind in the future. Thanks for the explanation.

  • Transfer my iTunes music library from a Mac (10.4) to a PC (Windows 2000)

Can I transfer my iTunes music library from a Mac (10.4) to a PC (Windows 2000) using a 5-gig jump drive (Sony)?

I might suggest opening up the jump drive (or My Documents if you still have all your music there), then opening the iTunes folder, then the iTunes Music folder, then selecting all the folders in there and dragging them into iTunes while its open and on your Library playlist. This should tell iTunes to rebuild its iTunes Library.itl file and all the files should appear in your library then. This doesn't make duplicate copies of anything - or at least it didn't on my laptop.
Problem with that is that I think you lose all your playlists, which you might not want. But if losing playlists is acceptable, then I think that will work for you.

  • Song transfer of Windows formatted iPod into Mac iTunes?

My iPod was formatted using my Windows computer, but I recently got a Mac and i use both computers equally. However, I would like both computers to have the same music in iTunes. is there a way to transfer songs from my Windows computer to the Mac without reformatting my iPod?

You can't sync or drag your music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but check the others out and choose whichever you are happy with.

  • 3rd Gen Ipod Windows formatted transfer contents to Mac

I have a 3rd Generation Ipod that I used with my old Sony laptop. The laptop died along with everything on it. The only thing I have left are the tunes I have on this Ipod. I don't want to have to re-rip all of them, is there a way to transfer them to my new Macbook Air? Most of the music are former CD's I ripped in itunes and not purchases from Itunes. Are there any free solutions? I read something about Senuti and Yamipod but I am afraid to loose the music. Has anyone out there done this and can you instruct me how to do it? Your help, as always is greatly appreciated.
    Julias

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. If it is set to sync automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too (the help pages for Senuti are extensive and will walk you through all you need to know about using the program).
You can read reviews and comparisons of some of the utilities here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):

4). Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • How do I transfer downloaded files from the iTunes account on PC to Mac?

My previous PC runs Windows Vista, on which I downloaded some songs from CDs into iTunes. I just bought a Macbook Pro and want to transfer those audio files. How do I do that?
