ITunes / Windows Video Playback.. (what, you actualy want to WATCH vid's?)

I'm sure there are several people out there that are having the same or similar problems, but because I can't seem to find them with the exact problem I'm having, I thought a new thread would be appropriate....
Upgraded from 6 to 7 yesterday... music seems to play OK (not as good as 6, but not all the issues other people are having). Now video playback in iTunes is little more than a slideshow with audio to (almost) match.
When I go to play back any vid podcast, or other video in my library for that matter, iTunes bumps my processor up to 100% and holds it there, and the video does little more than skip and bounce through the entire playback (even if the overlay controls go away fully, the slightest mouse movement brings them back). The audio quality seems to almost follow the video, but they get away from each other (the audio was about 2 seconds ahead of the video/slide show while watching the current version of Photoshop TV). Any other video player works fine, but if I wanted to use them, I would have never installed iTunes in the first place, the idea being that the integration was the blessing.
I USED to be able to watch a video, use Photoshop CS2, have Flash 8 open behind it, After Effects running on a seperate monitor, browse the web, and play freecell all at the same time, with several background utility style apps going all at the same time with out a hickup.
After trying the IDE fix's, the sound setup fix's and any other fix's found in the discussions (and yes, reverting them after they failed to fix the problem), I'm still having an issue, and now I can't find iTunes 6 to try to get back to a good time in life... oh why oh why apple, why do you have just as many issues as windows? I had hoped for so much more....
Anyone? Any Ideas? Anyone willing to email me itunes 6 so I can get back to a better time in life? Or provide answers? I've got a horriable track record with apple (over 20 business stopping questions, and to date 0 responses) so I am about 2 minutes from giving up
Sorry apple, but this is way past frustrating... were all your win/tel beta testers using mac's?
HomeBuilt Windows XP Pro ATI 9700 Pro / AMD Athlon 64 3800+ / hampster on treadmill running his head off...

Are sure that's not Flash needed for those videos?

I have download a video on my iPhone but want to watch it on my iPad which both are connected to the same iTunes account but it hasn't shared to my iPad !?? When I try to download on my iPad says I've already purchased and would I like to buy again ?

Movies are not part of the automatic downloads feature. Apps, music and books only.
If you live in the U.S. you can download many Movies again for free using the same Apple ID that you bought the movie with. If you do not live in the U.S, that feature is not available. Not all Movies are available at this time either.
You can transfer the movie to iTunes on your computer and then sync it to the iPad if you like.

  • HT1711 can i delete a movie from my computer that i've previously purchased in itunes and then download again when I want to watch it?

Can i delete a movie from my computer that i've previously purchased in itunes and then download again when I want to watch it?  Seems like this would help me manage storage space.

Yes, provided the movie is still in the iTunes Store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • HT204370 Purchased movies doesn't show in the purchased section of iTunes?  Why not?  If I want to watch again do I need to repurchase?  Thanks!

Hi all, I bought a copy of Leon on my iPad 2.  Now that I've watched it I've deleted it, however it doesn't show in the purchased section of iTunes?  Why not?  If I want to watch again do I need to repurchase?  Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Redownloading of movies is only available in the US at this time, even then not all movie studios are allowing their content to be redownloaded.

  • Is there a way to capture video of what you do in preview window

i find it fascinating to toggle rapidly forth on a scene in the preview window.
is there any way that i could capture this rapid backwards and forwards movement on video?

If you upgrade to iLife 09, you can have fast motion, slow motion, reverse motion without any third party tools. [See this link for a screenshot and description|http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/imovie_09stone.html#clip%20adjustments]
You could also use a screen capture application like Snapz Pro X, or similar.

  • ITunes window centers itself when you click on anything in the left sidebar

Has anyone else noticed that if you click on anything in the left sidebar (i.e. "Music", "Movies", etc.) that the itunes window centers itself on your screen both vertically and horizontally? interesting feature. I just noticed it so I hope it doesn't become annoying. I don't want iTunes thinking it needs to be the center of attention. It's not that important.... oh wait....

Same thing going on here. Tremendously irritating.
I recently installed a companion piece of software called TuneUp. Only noticed that it started doing this after the latest update to TuneUp. Thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else has the same symptoms. Have not yet tried disabling anything as mentioned elsewhere in this thread. If I do that and it solves the problem, I'll follow up. (Right now iTunes is in the middle of syncing thousands of updated tracks to my iPod and I don't want to interrupt it.)

  • ITunes U video playback constantly freezes

I have 64Gb iphone 4S with plenty of free space.  iTunes U video (a Yale course in this case) constantly freezes during playback.  The video is downloaded onto the iphone, not streamed.  I do not have this problem playing the video through the video app.  I would like to be able to use the iTunes U app.  Anyone else having this problem?

Try updating to the new iTunes U app that was released today.
If that doesn't work, try testing other Yale course videos and other iTunes U videos.

I've recently upgraded to iTunes 7 and my front row will no longer play my videos. My other music works fine and i can still play videos via iTunes, but front row just tells me i have no videos in my library.
It worked perfectly with iTunes 6. It's just stopped since the download.
    Can anyone help. Please!!!

  • ITunes 7 Video Playback Problems

I've been looking through this message board and haven't been able to find a post where this question was already asked, so I hope I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. With iTunes 7 (and the new Quicktime), all the mp4 videos on my computer will play only audio, while the video consists of either a blank window or a jumble of flashing bright colors laced with an occasional snippet of the video. All of these videos worked perfectly prior to the updates. Interestingly, there is one exception to this: all of the episodes of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" (Season 2) play perfectly, for no apparent reason. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the applications, but that doesn't work, nor does merely trying to play them in Quicktime rather than through iTunes itself. Please let me know if there is ANY way to fix this, as I have invested a lot of time and money into my video collection! Thanks.
      Windows XP

I would like to get some more information on this. Please try these steps:
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Go to: Start menu > Control Panels > QuickTime.
    3. Click on the Advanced tab.
    4. Un-check the checkbox next to "Enable Direct3D video acceleration".
    5. Open iTunes.
    6. Play the video.
    Does the issue occur?
I also need to get some information from the affected systems:
    1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\QuickTime.
    2. Double-click on QTInfo.
    3. Click on the yellow question mark icon in the upper left corner of the window and choose Save Log.
    4. Save that file somewhere.
    5. Attach that file to an email, and send it to me. Please also let me know the results of the steps above.

  • ITunes stuttering video playback

I have a new HP laptop with Windows 8.1 64 bit.  It has an AMD A4-5000 processor, 1.83Ghz with 4GB RAM and Radeon HD 8330 graphics.
When trying to play my videos in iTunes (encoded h.264), they are choppy and stuttery to the point of being unwatchable.  Happens with SD and HD videos.
The exact same video files play just fine in Windows Media Player on the same computer, and they play fine on my iPad 3.
    Things I have tried:
I have uninstalled all Apple software and re-installed iTunes.
I have manually installed QuickTime (I had no QuickTime icon in Control Panel after only installing iTunes).
I have installed the CCCP codec pack.
I have amended QuickTime's settings to disable Direct3D hardware acceleration, and also disabled all DirectX settings in QuickTime (i.e. "Safe Mode").
    I have manually installed DirectX

OK, so I found in another thread how to enable legacy codecs via terminal, and I did that.
After that I think there was a subjective improvement the *first* time I loaded a .mov file to view in QT X, then same old stutter and lag for that file and other formats also.
FWIW, the files seem to view OK if I use VLC. But that does not help with the protected .m4V files from ITMS.
    Anyone got any other suggestions?
Like I said, surely my MBP ought be able to play videos from iTunes, it used to be able to.

  • My iPhone 4 updated to iOS 5.0.1 but was interrupted in first attempt, when now connecting to iTunes (windows PC) the phone just constantly wants to restore and once it has done just goes back to that page rather than the summary tabs! Help?!!

    Can anyone help? please?

It's not a virus, even if one did exist for iOS, by definition it cannot be a virus. A virus is a back door program that activates malicous code without the users consent or (most times) knowledge at its time of destruction. Also it cannot be a trojan or worm based attack because apps downloaded directly through the app store or synced from your computer all go thru apple before they get to you and would be caught well before you activated it on your device.
No, after several weeks with the phone now it has come unpleasently clear that the problem is memory; not a lack of it, but simply mis-execution there of. Apples backgrounding technique is to run apps in a native or /paused/ state while not in use, however, it seems (actually can be proven with a simple diagnostic app) that the error is in the OS not fully pruging /native/ apps from memory. Thus when it (quickly) fills up, your device acts in a way similar to a kernal panic (see above post) and SpringBoard crashes.
As I really didn't see muchn of a problem with this in 4.x I'm hoping its just a bug in 5.x and be fixed in 5.1? otherwise, as I said last time things seem to run fairly smooth if you keep the background clear and hard reboot (to completely free up memory) about once every 3-7 days depending on how much you use the iDevice.

  • I have 70% downloaded a movie and now it says download error, tap to retry.  iTunes already billed me and I really want to watch this movie:) Help?

    Anyone have any advice?

If tap to retry did not work, open up iTunes > click the drop down top right which should be your iTunes account/ email address > account > purchase history > find the purchase > click report a problem > click on the movie you purchased and then file report.

  • Video playback and Album covers in Cover album flow mode are a mess

After installing iTunes 7.02 the cover albums come through on albums with song group list, but in the Cover Flow mode where you browse through the album covers, the covers are made up of verticle and horizontal lines and nothing can be made out. Even the bar at the bottom that allows you to drag and flip through the covers has a hashed line look.
The video playback images are also messed up. basically I can see that there is an image moving but it's not interpretable. The sound comes through fine. The image basically looks like a whole bunch of little squares that are not aligned right.
    Any suggestions

with those symptoms, we'd better check through the suggestions from the following document:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows video playback perfomance issues

  • Choppy video playback

I am creating a video jukebox application that must play a
music video (.flv) and allow the user to browse through a large
music collection while the video plays. The video plays in a video
display component and because I need to display a lot of picture
data (for the album art of each video) at once I am using a tile
list with an item render to display the artwork. This tile list
works fine and displays 16 album pictures at one time (4 across and
4 down). However I have a very serious problem when I want to
scroll up/down through content of the tile list if there is a video
playing as it will cause my video to skip/stutter/become choppy
(the audio for the playing video also skips)?
My album art is loaded from a local sqlite database which
simply contains strings pointing to where each album picture is
located on my local C drive. All my pictures are jpeg's and are all
    less than 50kb in size.
I have tried reducing the number of pics displayed in the
tile list at any one time to as little as 6 (3 across and 2 down)
and have found that this greatly reduces the frequency of the skips
in the video but I do still get the odd one especially if I am
scrolling quickly up/down through the tile list.
I have also tried to use a different approach to displaying
the album art as apposed to the logical tile list component. I have
made a standard panel into which I placed 6 blank image components
which act as containers, into which I simply load the first 6
results of an sql query and when the user clicks the down button it
loads in the next 6 - a bit crude but I thought it might work......
unfortunately it didn't and I got the same problem as I did when
    scrolling through the tile list!
I have also tried reducing the quality/size of all of my
images but have found that this too makes very little difference
    (if any) to my problem.
Also, thinking this issue may have been down to a lack of
memory I upgraded the RAM in my PC to 6GB and still found no change
    in performance.
My PC is a Dell Optiplex GX745 with a 3.2GHz Intel Celeron
CPU and I'm running Windows XP SP2.
Can anyone please help me I'm really lost as to where to go
    from here?
    Thanks
    Adam (Flexchief)

    Hello Flexchief,
is it possible for me to look at your code? you can email me
    at yankeedoodles at hotmail.com
Cos the first thing that I would think about is trying to
replace the flash scroll component with a home made scrollbar. This
    has helped me alot.
Next, the flv playback might be looping for some reason. I
did a video juke box such as yours sometime back and I found out
that I was actually relaunching the video multiple times on click.
This caused the video to be laggy. It was harder for me to
determine as mine was audioless so i couldnt really tell that a
video was looping behind my already playing video.
Maybe you might want to consider some of the most primitive
things that are often overlooked..it happens to me alot.
Please do keep us all updated
