Itunes windows xp error message

I recently upgraded to itunes 2. I was able to transfer music so everything appeared ok. Later when I opened itunes I got a message a certain file was missing and advised that I reinstall. So deleted itunes software and reinstalled itunes installer and itunes 6.0. Now when I attempt to open I get a Windows error message saying there is a problem with itunes. I am wondering if there is a problem with QuickTime because I can't open or uninstall. Help!! Thanks

good call. a broken quicktime is the first thing i check for when people report an "itunes has encountered an error ..." message when they try to launch itunes.
what error message are you getting when you try to uninstall QT? include error message numbers if you're getting any.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

ITunes displays -48 error message when syncing iPod Nano on Windows XP

My girlfriend's mom's iPod Nano ran out of charge while jogging so she decided to charge it on her daughter's iHome. The next day she went to use her iPod but it was totally empty of all music and files. When she tried to sync it to iTunes, she received an eror message stating, "An unknown error has occurred (-48)" from iTunes and a Windows message stating that some iPod folder/file was corrupted.
If anyone receives such a message, I was able to correct it by:
-Plugging in your iPod to your PC
-Ignore the error messages
-Go to My Computer
-Find your iPod's drive letter (ie. G:)
-Right-click on it and select Properties
-Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now
You should be able to sync your iPod as before. I do not claim to be an expert so be warned that it may not work for you. Good luck!

It worked before.

Open Disk Utility via Spotlight or in the Applications folder stored within the Utilities folder. Close all applications and 3rd party software and choose "Repair Disk Permissions." Reboot the computer when finished, and test to see if the issue is resolved.

I too had this problems (Windows 8.1). A few weeks ago after the previous update before this version of itunes, I'd had a problem with the itunes store crashing and at that time I followed instructions to copy QTMovieWin.dll to the itunes folder, which fixed the store crashing.
Today I fixed the problem by:
Delete QTMovieWin.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Uninstall ALL Apple Software using Control Panel / Programs and Features. I uninstalled:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Mobile Device Support
Apple Application Support
Apple Software Update
Bonjour
Delete the folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
Restart the computer
Reinstall QuickTime
Reinstall iTunes
Everything works GREAT now, including the iTunes store. You will not lose your media files, I got everything back, all my settings, playlists, etc.

I needed to update my iTunes since I purchased the iPad2. My Windows Vista machine will not allow me to update the program due to a "Windows Installer" error message. I finally got the program to install/run. I downloaded a third copy and saved it again on the desktop. I selected "Run as Administrator" instead of "Run" It must have been the 10th plus time I tried to install, but this time it completed. I don't know if the "Run as Administrator" was the key since it is Vista, or if I just got lucky. Either way I am relieved.

I've been having the same issues for the past year and a half. I've spent 6-8months trying to figure it out. Went to various Itunes stores with pictures on my Iphone per each step so I could relay all information that I'd come across and the personnel were less than helpful, after conversations that would sometimes last an hour between myself, employees and managers they always came back to "simply uninstall then reinstall" when I told them for the thousanth time that I've done that multiple times and my errors are happening while trying to reinstall it they act stumped and say "well then I'm not sure, I'll give you a call if I figure it out" and disappear. I've been very disatisfied at the lack of support from Apple and if Android to piece together a reletively reliable phone I'd switch to them in a heartbeat. I'll follow this question incase someone can answer this, but I don't have much faith.
BTW, wifey has Windows 7 running on the laptop and my phone syncs just fine to that and no trouble with itunes, just mine (desktop).

Exactly the same problem here. As far as I can see this problem has been around since Match was first released with no action from Apple to rectify it. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
