ITunes / Windows XP - New install won't open

I know other people have had this problem - I appear to have installed ITunes and QuickTime ok, but when I try to open ITunes nothing happens - it doesnt open, no error message etc.
I've trawled the internet looking for solutions, have uninstalled/reinstalled at least 5 times....disabled other applications, cleared Temp folders etc. I'm at my wits end...can anyone help?
Dont know if this is relevant but I have an old version of MusicMatch on my computer with a library of music in there and use MozillaFirefox to access the internet.

some preliminary questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits.
(1) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on the PC?
(2) try launching your QuickTime. does it:
(a) launch perfectly fine?
(b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
(c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)
(3) reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

I found something that could be a workaround ... wel at least it's gotten me one step further (windows 7 now recognizes the scanner as the right device (symbol usb sync cradle), but step 8 keeps failing.

1. Install WMDC 6.
2. Plus the Windows CE based device.
3. Close the "Found new hardware" wizard.
4. Right-click on "Computer" and select "Manage"
5. Open the Device Manager, then select the Windows CE based device.
6. Right-click and select "Update driver..."
7. In the wizard, select "pick from a list..."
8. In the list, select "Microsoft USB Sync [Microsoft]".
9. ... nothing else! It works!
Anything else I could try now?The first time I tried step 8, the microsoft usb sync driver was in the list but I got an error while updating the driver. The second time, it didn't appear on the list anymore. I'm thinking this is more of a 64-bit driver problem.

When i double click on the window i am unable to change it from EVP88 Electric Piano in the left hand sidebar.
When I watch tutorials on how to use parts of logic, people use the I/O as a menu, whereas it does not do that for me.

In the online Help type Basic Operations
From the List choose.. Basic Operations then in the left hand menu choose.. Using The Mouse.
Look at the list of mouse operations, I think it's the third one down.
Read how many different mouse operations Logic responds to.
If you really want to learn Logic, reading the manual is a good thing, not only to find what you're looking for but of of the extra/related information you will find as you solve your original question.

Installed itunes on windows 8 and it won't open

I just installed the most recent iTunes on my new Windows 8 computer and when it tries to open, it just crashes saying "iTunes has stopped working". Does anyone have any ideas?

I searched the site further and found some other posts. iTunes starts fine in safe mode. I did the steps in

I don't know how you received an upgrade for iTunes. You make it sound like it was sent to you. At most your computer will tell you of a new version and you tell it to download it and install it. However, a computer will not do this for a version which is incompatible. iTunes 10.7 came out a few weeks ago but your computer would not notify you and even if it did, 10.7 would refuse to install on your computer. So this part isn't making a lot of sense.
Two ways to get the 'newer version' message. One is to open your library on a computer running a newer version, and then try to open it with an older version. Usually happens when the library is on an external and used with multiple computers. The second way is if you have multiple versions of itunes installed on your computer.
The newest (and likely the last) iTunes for OSX 10.5.8 is iTunes 10.6.3 which has been out for quite a while.

With that one, I think we should try getting the malware possibilities off the table first.
Try downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hour on my Lenovo.)

Double tap Home button and delete Pages from multitask-bar.
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.
Try again with Pages.
If no joy, delete Pages and redownload again.

Somehow after upgrading to OSX Maverick I downloaded new pages version and loved it. Somehow l LAST WEEK I downloaded the old version of
pages and now the new pages files wont open? How do I uninstall the old pages?

You should be able to reinstall the new version.....
Out of curiosity, how did you install the old version over the new? I would have thought that was impossible.

Motion won't open new project, won't open utility window in old project

When I try to open Motion from the dock, it gives the license information, but no project opens...it just stays with that opening window.
When I try to open an old project, there is no utility window (no file browser, library, or inspector).
Help!

I tried to do that before, but I couldn't find that plist on the Macintosh HD icon. As per your instructions, I later found that plist file in my home (i.e. 'user') folder.

ITunes 7.1 (newest one) won't open and I've tried all the posted solutions

I upgraded itunes but now it won't open. I tried going to repair under the control panel, I uninstalled then re-installed, and then I deleted the SC info like the Apple tutorial said (so please don't post any of those generic links to them) and STILL it won't open (will they EVER come out with a newer one that works decently? --the only reason I upgraded right away is because the previous one made the tracks all choppy).

the cursor gets a hourglass for as second or 2 and my comp. makes the general loading noise, then nothing happens ---I don't think it's a firewall as the file is still itunes.exe (as with older versions) and it was never blocked before

(actually, it did the same load symbol then nothing --so I switched back to tell you no, then I went to log it out so I could delete it, then the thing with the user agreement (as I said I had re-installed) poped up and after clicking yes and other options about uploading music it worked -----still doesn't work on my actual windows account though)

I downloaded a music file from the internet that is an iTunes music player file, and now when I try to import it to iTunes it won't open or even if I just try to open the file it brings up iTunes, but no music is opened or played. I've tried to change the file's format through iTunes but i couldn't figure that out and I've tried to save it as a different type of file when I downloaded but that didn't work either. HELP PLEASE! Useful info, Katrina. It's been so long since I had install an app to handle that (Remember Stuffit?) that it didn't occur to me that Windows either couldn't do it or didn't come with a utility along with all the other stuff that seems to come on an new computer.

Hello, I sure hope someone can help me. My itunes music has ALL disappeared....and when I tried to replace it {I guess it's known as import it from my CD} it seemed to remain forever on 0.02 and would not move on to the other song....I became frustrated....and ejected the CD....and got a pop up window telling me pretty much that this was a no-no....anyway...I clicked on my itune icon to open it up and start with another CD to import music....well now my icon won't open and everytime I click on it to open I get a pop up window from Apple...asking if it is ok to make changes....I click yes...and nothing happens....I also tried to see the compalibility and it is now telling me it is not combatiable......well it was yesterday and the day before...and even a few minutes ago...when I was able to open it once....What does this mean? You can't activate any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone.
