ITunes with 2 Separate Accounts

Hi
I’m fairly new to iTunes and as I didn’t bother to read any tutorials correctly I think I’ve incorrectly setup iTunes on our computer.
My wife and I both have iPhones, with different accounts. I have a feeling iTunes might be confused as to what music to display etc. when either phone is connected.
What I’ve done is to have two logins on the PC, one for each of us, and (I think) I installed iTunes onto each account.
Is it possible to have two separate iTunes accounts in this way? If I have setup iTunes & the phone accounts incorrectly on the pc is it possible to uninstall iTunes from the PC without losing any data and start afresh?
Basically the setup is a laptop (win 8) with music stored on an external HDD. It’s got to the point now where I honestly don’t have a clue what I’m doing – would people recommend an uninstall and starting again from the beginning?
Has anybody got any tips on having two accounts sharing 1 PC?
cheers

Forgot to add, no experience with these, if it was a touch, I would create her own Apple ID and just hook it up with wifi in the respective houses.

  • Sharing itunes with different user accounts

I just got Windows Vista. I have the latest version of Itunes. I'm trying to set it up so that my wife and I can share songs with different user accounts in Windows. I followed all the instructions. I moved the iTunes music folder to a public folder. But everytime I log off my account and return, itunes can't find the song files. Any suggestions?

They can be transferred to another iTunes library but not another iTunes account.
    Just copy them.

  • Will updating my iPad on an iTunes with a different account delete my apps?

My mom bought this iPad and created an iTunes account for it, and has since never touched it. I want to update it, but it's not synced to my computer nor are all the purchases on my account. As far as I know, it has never been synced to a computer since its purchase. I use it daily, and there's a ton of content on here that I can't risk losing. In order to retain my content during the update, do I have to sync it to a computer whose iTunes is the same account as the iPad? Thanks.

Not quite that simple. Syncing transfers data from the iTunes library to the iPad. And if there's nothing in the iTunes library, that's what you end up with in your iPad...  You need to transfer your Mum's iTunes library to your new computer before you sync.

  • Sync AddressBook with Google (separate account)

i would like to get my google contacts (these are ALL email based) synced with Address Book (these are ALL phone based) but I don't want to mix up the email addresses with the phone numbers and vice versa.
someone please tell me i can do this...
    thanks.

You can only sync with the iCloud account which was entered first into your preferences. You won't be able to do what you want with iCloud. If you're not in the habit of frequently changing contacts one of you could expord your contacts as a vCard and the other could import that into their Address Book.
In Address Book on your Mac, click one contact in the 'All' list then hit command-a to select all. From the File menu choose Export>vCard. Copy it to the other Mac.
On the other Mac choose Import from the File menu and select the vCard.
You might be able to sync your contacts with Google (free account) instead of iCloud: I don't know how reliable this is.

  • Using iTunes with multiple Windows accounts

A friend of mine has 2 Windows accounts on his Win XP machine. He uses iTunes on each account, but has his music in a shared location. If he has music playing in iTunes on one account and then uses Fast User Switching to log into the second account, the current song continues to play but the next song and every song thereafter will be very jerky. Like trying to stream music with a slow internet connection.
    Any thoughts.

    hiya!
hmmmm. it might well be the Windows Fast User Switching causing his problem (although he isn't getting the usual problem i see associated with Fast User Switching):

  • Share an itunes between two separate accounts on the same macbook pro

My Partner and I share a macbook pro - we both have indidiual accounts.
Our itunes music is all showing on the iTunes in his account.
However, I log him out and then log into mine the iTunes is empty....
Is there a way that we can share the iTunes and the music purchased between our two accounts on our macbook without having to buy all the music again??
I am not very switched on with the syncing business and the only way I can see around it is to put all the music on a hard drive and then transfer it back onto my iTunes accounts - but I would consider that that method is a little outdated now?

To give other users read-only access to your library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support article linked below.

  • Can I share my iTunes with another User Account on the same Mac?

    Hi There
I have created a new user account on my MacBook for my Boyfriend to have his own login, the only trouble being he syncs his iPod and iPhone with my iTunes library.
Is it possible to share iTunes across the 2 User Accounts on the same Mac?

I have followed those instructions and successfully have shared my music. Now for the next question!
How can we both purchase songs that automatically update on each others account? (For example if I purchase a song, it won't appear on his Library)

  • Using iTunes with 2 separate devices

I have an iPhone and a older iPod.I'd like to set up iTunes so that I can have to separate libraries(2 separate instances of iTunes) so that I can sync each devices with a different library. I've heard that this is possible but how do I do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't actually need two libraries, you can sync multiple iPods from a single library. However, to answer your question, to create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to and existing Library. Choose to make a new one.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. The new library will be empty until you add content to it. To get back to your original library you need to close iTunes and open it again while holding down the shift key, this time choose to open an existing library and navigate to its location. Multiple libraries can prove tricky when using multiple devices, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
There are several other ways to use two or more iPods/iPhones with one computer, have a look at this help page and see what you think: How to use multiple iPods with one computer

iTUnes, in basic terms, does not play nice with the "Fast user switching" feature in windows turned on. THis feature (If memory serves me right) is automaticly turned on in windows when you create another user account. to turn it off, goto control panel>user accounts>change the way users log on and off.
Afew aricals about iTUnes and fast user switching can be found here http://search.info.apple.com/?search=Go&lr=lang_en&kword=kipod%20OR%20kipodwin%2 0OR%20kitunes%20OR%20kituneswin&type=ktechORklearn&newstype=&q=Fast%20user%20switching

  • HT204053 Trouble logging into iTunes with new AppleID account

When I try to log in to my new appleID account, it takes me to a page that says "Item Not Available". It tells me to make sure my computer's date is set correctly, and that it accepts cookies from the iTunes Music Store. Then it has a link to this page: http://www.apple.com/support/?artnum=93440 where I can find absolutely nothing related to doing either. Help, please?

    Hey there writespinner!
I have a couple of articles that should help you troubleshoot this issue. First is an article helping you troubleshoot your connection to the iTunes Store, and it can be found here:

  • Tricky situation - itunes with match and accounts

    Hi All,
    Here's my situation:
apple ID 1 - tied to my company credit card. I buy apps, use icloud to sync contacts etc between my iphone and ipad. Works great but I'm not that bothered about icloud as I'm not a power contact/message etc user and could just backup to my imac which I am typing this on
apple ID 2 - my gf's iphone (not relevant at this point). icloud switched off.
Now I decided I wanted to make a new apple ID for my music collection so I could access it all from iphone, ipad and my gf could access it from hers.  I made apple ID 3, used another credit card and spent about a month importing my cds to the imac!  Painful but a labour of love, or something like that..
I enabled itunes match, then it said turn on itunes match on your phone.  This was already on, but associated with apple ID 1.  So there is a problem there.  I deleted my apple ID 1 icloud account then put in apple ID 3 but then I realised I would not be able to use apple ID 1 to sync my contacts etc. So I went to music and then it said I had to transfer something with this device and could only do this once every 90 days!  I was a bit scared by this so went back and deleted the icloud and set it back to apple ID 1.  Then I did some reading and started again (meanwhile itunes match is still very much busy with the matching and uploading etc) and set store to apple ID 1 - icloud to apple ID 3 and went to settings, music - activated itunes match and it said I wasn't currently subscribed to itunes match (and I double checked cloud was set to apple ID 3).
It's all a bit much really. Anyone have any tips on this please?

Ok have played with it a bit.
At the moment I have itunes match working but if I use a different account for store than the one I use for the cloud, when using itunes match it says I am not subscribed.  I thought you were supposed to be able to use different account for itunes store and cloud?

  • Problem sharing iTunes with multiple Windows accounts

My kids and I share a single computer via multiple user accounts. We also share a common iTunes account across all Windows accounts. When new songs or playlists are added, they appear in the other accounts.
Recently, I had to create a new Windows account for my daughter. In iTunes, I went to Edit -> Preferences and changed the iTunes Media folder location to the shared folder. The problem is that none of the playlists came through, and when new songs are added, they do not show up in her account either.
What could be causing this problem on just this account, and what is the possible fix?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

If you create multiple user accounts on one computer but want the same music to be available in iTunes for all users, see iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer.
The important stuff is near the bottom
    +To listen to another account's music files+
    +Open iTunes.+
+From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.+
    +Click Advanced.+
+Deselect the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library file" option.+
    +Click OK.+
+From the File menu, choose Add File to Library.+
+Note: Windows users can also choose Add Folder to Library to add a folder of songs.+
+Navigate in the Add File To Library window to the location where the other user's music is saved (the iTunes Music folder in the case above).+
    +Click Open.+
+Repeat these steps for each account that is listening to shared music.+
+When another user of the computer has imported new music from CD, *repeat steps 6 through 8* to add the music to your library.+
