ITunes with Limited User

I'm trying to set up iTunes to work with a limited user account on XP. Most things seem to work ok, but it is showing the click-through EULA every time I run iTunes.
If I change the user to an Administrator, the EULA doesn't show up after one run, but if I change the user back to Limited, it starts showing up again.
Anyone have any ideas? I'd prefer not to have it run in an Administrator account on this particular machine.

Turn on iTunes sharing. Enter "sharing" in iTunes' Help menu for instructions.

You have to turn on Sharing and then Authenticate Sharing on the other devices. You can have up to 5.

My wife & I use the same iMac with different user accounts.  How do we share one iTunes account on that computer.  I tried moving the iTunes folder in music on my user account to shared user, but it seems like new iTunes folders are created in the original location when I do this.  What am I doing wrong.

Then hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder in /Users/Shared/ folder.

  • Sharing itunes with different user accounts

I just got Windows Vista. I have the latest version of Itunes. I'm trying to set it up so that my wife and I can share songs with different user accounts in Windows. I followed all the instructions. I moved the iTunes music folder to a public folder. But everytime I log off my account and return, itunes can't find the song files. Any suggestions?

They can be transferred to another iTunes library but not another iTunes account.
    Just copy them.

  • Share itunes with other users, windows 8

I have just bought a new PC running windows 8. For each member of my family I have set up individual user accounts. I have then installed iTunes and attempted to follow the instructions located at iTunes: How to share music between different user accounts on a single computer - Apple Support to ensure that we can all access my centrally stored iTunes media/libraries. I have followed the instructions to the letter but it does NOT WORK on Windows 8. It may have worked on other versions, but not windows 8. Please, do not respond with the above link - it's already driven me crazy that this is the only result google turns up.
In iTunes, I have used 'edit preferences' to select the public music - 'iTunes media' folder on all accounts, and keep checking the actual public folder (C - Users - Public - Public Music - ITunes - ITunes Media) to make sure all the data is there. Indeed it is there. But for each other user, iTunes won't display any of the songs in my library, or any of the playlists.
I have even tried holding shift, opening iTunes and then selecting the central library. This just results in the music all being displayed, but iTunes displaying the message that it can't find any of the songs.(I have over 30,000...).
I have deleted and reinstalled iTunes several times, and have deleted and reinstalled the iTunes data - music. libraries etc (currently backed up on an external HDD) several times. I can get iTunes to work on my account only (administrator) - but whenever I try to set up other users to access the public content, iTunes won't cooperate.
As far as I can tell, with Windows 8, there is NO WAY TO SHARE YOUR ITUNES LIBRARIES WITH OTHER USER ACCOUNTS. I have read all the previous threads on this topic, have googled everything, and have looked on youtube
Apple - this not good enough.

    Was it these directions?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
Did you read the line at the bottom?
+When another user of the computer has imported new music from CD, repeat steps 6 through 8 to add the music to your library+ .
You need to drag the public folder over into those user's itunes window.
Alternatively, itunes menu > file > add folder to library
When you download or rip new CDs, each user has to add it manually to their library list.
Or use something like itunes folder watch.
When you changed the other users itunes preferences, that will affect FUTURE additions. Now you are in the future and they need to add those songs to their itunes database list.
With itunes 9 you might have success putting new music in this *Automatically Add to itunes* folder
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3832
    But I haven't tried it.

  • Using itunes with two users

How can my wife and I use iTunes on one pc with two separate i-devices? And how can she move her library to another computer?
    Regards
    Mike

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Satellite M40-307: Accessibility utility doesn't work with limited user account

    Hello everybody,
I have got a Satellite M40-307 (PSM44E), and I have got a problem with the "accessibility" utility, that displays an icon in the Windows XP notification bar, to let the user know whether the "Fn" key is active or not.
That this utility would not work for the administrator would not worry me a lot, as the administrator is supposed to know what he does. But the limited user does not have access to it, this more bothering.
In an administrator session, this utility works pretty fine. But in a limited user session, if I try to launch it by [runas /user:admin "C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Windows Utilities\TACSPROP.exe"],
I am answered that the file TCMSVR.DLL cannot be found. If I launch it normally, a message tells me that this utility requires I am connected as an administrator.
So, what can I do to use this utility normally, i.e. in a limited user session*?

    Hello Markus,
    Did you read ?
I executed TACSPROP with the admin rights, and it does not run.
So, to follow you, I had a look, on TACSPROP.EXE and TACSPROP.DLL, the users had "read/execute" and "read" rights. I provided "full rights", and it solved nothing.
Obviously another program must be launched before, that is by default launched only by the administrator, and I am searching what program it is.
    Thank you.

  • Toshiba Power Saver doesn't work with limited user account

    Hello,
this same question was posted in 2006 - not by me - with no successful answer. I try again.
If you create a user with restrictions account (member of the local USERS group) in XP, then he cannot manage either the embedded Windows power options, and the Toshiba Power Saving tool.
I managed, working on file and registry permissions, to have the Windows power options working. But I still can't launch the Toshiba Power Saving tool, it always pop-ups the "you don't have rights" box.
Is there really nothing I can do to work around this?
    thanks

I have the exact same problem on my Tecra 9100 (PT910E) just accquired on Ebay with minimum XP Pro SP2 installation.
Akuma I tried to your advice with my Power saver version 5.04.00 (file 20071126153401) without success.
The only way I could find to run Power saver is directly from the icon in the Admin account, or through the console. I could not then find "setup options" only "Details" of the various power schemes. No "Allow Limited User to change settings" box/button anywhere.
    Can you clarify further ?
    thanks
    Ken

  • Adobe Reader will not run with limited user account.

I am trying to upgrade our Citrix Server Farm, from Reader 8.0 to 9.1, and am running into some issues.  First I uninstalled Adobe Reader 8.0 and then installed 9.1 from Adobe's site. Aftter the install completed I was able to run 9.1 without any problems.  However today, when some limited users started working, they started getting runtime errors.  This only happens with non-administrator user accounts.
    the error messages are attached.
After clicking OK, Adobe Reader terminates.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I do believe that I solved my own problem... almost.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404597.html
"The affected user has a redirected Application Data folder and as a result the network path containing the Application Data uses a UNC path that begins with \\. This UNC path causes Acrobat 9.0 or Adobe Reader 9.0 to incorrectly parse the Application Data path and give the error message."
The article tells me to upgrade to Adobe Reader 9.1...   WTF!!!  9.1 is when this problem started, 8.0 worked great!  I would stay with 8.0 if I could, but some of our programs require 9.1.

  • Playing iTunes with different user accounts in the same computer

I just created another user account in my computer running windows XP, but when I try to open itunes in the new user account it ask me to close the other itunes that is running in the administrator account or vice versa, Why I can't run both itunes at the same time if both are in the same pc? I already checked in the preference panel the option for share my library music in both itunes just in case if that is the problem but still asking me the same. Am I doing something wrong?

iTUnes, in basic terms, does not play nice with the "Fast user switching" feature in windows turned on. THis feature (If memory serves me right) is automaticly turned on in windows when you create another user account. to turn it off, goto control panel>user accounts>change the way users log on and off.
Afew aricals about iTUnes and fast user switching can be found here http://search.info.apple.com/?search=Go&lr=lang_en&kword=kipod%20OR%20kipodwin%2 0OR%20kitunes%20OR%20kituneswin&type=ktechORklearn&newstype=&q=Fast%20user%20switching

  • Fail to connect on Citrix with Limited User but succeeds with Admin user

On one of our customer's installations which is on a Citrix server, the users cannot connect to the database when they are Limited users. But if the same user is promoted to Administrator it can connect.
The Application uses ODP.Net to connect. Other tools in the installation that use ODBC works for limited users.
The OracleConnection.Open method throws an exception without an error message.
    The stack trace is:
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleErrorHelper(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, OpoSqlValCtx* pOpoSqlValCtx, Object src, String procedure)
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleError(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, Object src)
    at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection.Open()
On the server we have installed Oracle Client 10.2.0.1 where the .Net provider also is installed (otherwise it would not work for the admin user either).
Anyone who has a clue on why this strange behavior happens?
    / Nils

That was a known issue in 10201, and should be resolved by patching the client up to 10204. You do that by applying the database patch to the client, and you can get the 10204 database patch on Metalink.
    Cheers,
    Greg

  • ITunes with fast user switching.

One day I was listening to a really good and song and found that I need to switch to another account on my Mac so when I switched it stopped my music and I was like crap I have when I have to switch users when listening to music. So I was thinking how cool would it be if when I switched user if itunes would just keep playing so it would not interrupt me. Does anyone know how I could accomplish this?

Now that I'm running Leopard I can say that is still happens; iTunes stops when switching accounts through Fast User Switching.
Except yesterday iTunes kept playing for some reason. At the same time it seemed like Fast User Switching was broken, at least from the account with iTunes playing. Only the Login Window choice was enabled. So it might be that selecting a user directly is when iTunes gets stopped. However I don't know how to get it to work that way again since the login window option is not available when Fast User Switching is turned off—you can only Log Out (which of course turns off everything).
Maybe an enterprising programmer can fix this lack of choice in Leopard.

  • Can I share my iTunes with another User Account on the same Mac?

    Hi There
I have created a new user account on my MacBook for my Boyfriend to have his own login, the only trouble being he syncs his iPod and iPhone with my iTunes library.
Is it possible to share iTunes across the 2 User Accounts on the same Mac?

I have followed those instructions and successfully have shared my music. Now for the next question!
How can we both purchase songs that automatically update on each others account? (For example if I purchase a song, it won't appear on his Library)

  • Installing itunes with multiple users

I recently purchased a nano. However, there are three oher people in my house with an ipod. When I go to install the itunes under my windows username the installation wizard asks me if I would like to erase or clear itunes and completely uninstall. I am worried that all of the songs on the other three ipods will be erased. Does anyone know how to setup my ipod without starting over?

    This should help:

Note that when it says "publicly accessible location", it needs to be a place where everyone has read and write access. The most common such place is the Shared folder in the Users folder.

  • Use itunes with multiple users on this computer

Our laptop is used by both my wife and I. I set up itunes uder my profile. When my wife opens her profile on the laptop, itunes is empty as if it is only under my profile. How do I get Itunes to open when any user logs on to the laptop?

you can put the music in the shared folder under users, but as far as profile each user has a profile, ITunes does not support profiles
