ITunes with pdfs: books in a multi-volume set

I've started using iTunes to catalog all my pdf's. Most of them are books and many are multiple volume sets with one pdf per volume. I've been using Disk # for volume number and sort by Title/Disk #. This method takes care of sorting, but what I would like to see is a way to just see the set title one time in the list view and expand it with a click. Depending on the number of volumes, one set can take up more than one page in he list view.
If this is possible?

i do this with my textbooks. I see what you wanting to do, and i couldn't find a way to do it within iTunes. so what i did is i created multipage PDF's and then imported those multipage pdf's into iTunes. so now instead of having each page imported i have them imported by chapters.
then when i sync it to my iPad i move them into their own catagory within iBook titled "The Cell: A molecular approach"

Using itunes with mac book pro and mac mini

Hello
I have had a Mac book pro with all my music on external hard drive, and running to my through my network of 1 apple TV, 2 airport expresses. Working great.
Now I have got an old Mac Mini and hooked up the external hard drive that has all my music on it and hook it up to my network. I want to use the Mac Mini as a Music Server. The music plays on the mac mini not the Apple TV or the airport expresses.
I think it's something small but any help whould be great.

Dreamweaver CS6 is not retina ready. Dreamweaver CS6 Cloud I believe was patched at 12.1 for this. However, I do not believe Adobe sees this as a patch but rather as a new feature thus if you are using Dreamweaver CS6 you will not get this release until Dreamweaver CS6.5 or CS7.

How to synch PDF books in iTunes with iBooks on iPhone?
I am running current apps on all (PC with windows 7)
When I sysnc my iphone the PDF books in iTunes do not show up in the iBook library.
I see no place to configure the sync of books as some tutotials suggest.

You've selected the iPhone on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 then you can enable the sidebar via control-S on a PC), and you've then selected the Books tab on the right-hand side of iTunes and selected those PDFs and clicked on sync/apply to try and copy them over to your phone ? And in the iBooks app on your phone you have 'PDF' selected on the button at the top middle of the bookshelf, not 'Books' ?

PDF books added in iTunes 11.1.3 shows up in Music Albums tab [Probably a bug]

iTunes 11.1.3 still allows you to add PDF books to library and the imported books show up in the albums view under the music selection. Seems weird, as books tab was removed from itunes. Importing 10 books results in creation of an album tab which is populated with the books added. It marks the album as unknown artist and unknown album.

Cant sync pdf books from itunes to ipad2.

I have added 3 more pdf books in itunes but i cant get them to sync, as Ive done a couple of others, to my ipad2. I get an error message "Some items not copied because they can not be found." How can I sync these books to my ipad2?

In iTunes, with your iPad connected, you need to select the document(s) that you want to copy from iRead PDF to your computer (http://www.ajidev.com/iannotate/support/itunes.html - the iRead help on their website links to iAnnotate as they are the basically the same except that iAnnotate allows you to make notes).

This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
What can I do?

IPad 3 and iPhone 4S won't synch with iTunes on Mac book pro. Error message says I need to have version 10.6.3 pr later for iTunes.

Mac iOS version 10.5.8 and iTunes on Mac is 10.6.1. iPad and iPhone version is 6.0(10A403). When I check for updates on the Mac book pro it says software versions are up to date.
When I check for iTunes version 10.6.3 it looks like it is for snow leopard operating system which I am not on. How to I get my devices to sync with computer. Everything worked prior to iOS 6 upgrade on remote devices.

I iust updated the iPhone to iOS6 (thought it wasn't syncing before the update either).
Macbook Pro running Mac OS 10.5.8
iTunes 10.6.3 (i.e. latest update - which hasn't had an issues apart from syncing).
I tried 3 different USB sync cables. Still not syncing.
Do I really have to update my Mac OS to 10.6.8 in order to sync my phone ? I thought as long as you have iTunes 10.6.3 you're ok...
Is there a way to update to Mac OS 10.6.8 (or later) without wiping the hard drive and doing a new install?..

Adobe Reader on the iPhone is a PDF reading app. It's not a creation app.
You need to get an app like Pages which is intended for page layout. It can place pictures from the phone and export PDF.

As long as the apps and ibooks are still available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to buy them, then you should be able to re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

You've tried tapping on the Collections button at the top of the bookshelf to see if they are in a different collection ? If not then do you have a copy of them in the Books part of your computer's iTunes library (though PDFs aren't iTunes purchases, if you've done 'transfer purchases' whilst they were on the iPad then they should have copied over) ?
ibooks and PDFs aren't included in a device's backup, so if they aren't in your computer's iTunes library and/or you don't have your own backup copy of them then they won't be on your computer (for info there isn't an iBooks app/program for a Mac or PC).
