Itunes without quicktime

I was unable to install the 35.1 mb itunes program after downloading it- I'd click, nothing would happen at all. No error messages or anything. So I decided to try downloading and installing each portion (itunes and quicktime) separately.
Okay, I have uninstalled all quicktime applications, and downloaded and reinstalled the newest version of quicktime. Maybe I am completely overlooking the obvious, but where do I find itunes without quicktime?

Well, after 5 days of wrestling with this iPod and the iTunes programming, I finally found the solution. This is after repeated download and install attempts, and one unsuccessful call to customer support (I was on hold, after speaking with a representative, and was disconnected). The final solution is to take the iPod back to the dealer, and exchange it for another brand, that comes with an installation CD and music manager. We managed to listen to the pre-installed free music that came with the mp3 player on our way home from the store. I am already so much happier, just knowing that I don't have to work with that cotton-pickin' iPod any more.

i can not open itunes without quicktime 7.5.5 why ?

You don't provide us with much background infomation such as operating system version you are using, but usually when I see this kind of question it gets answered by:
    QuickTime 7.5.5 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL27
    QuickTime 7.7 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/dl761
= New version of Quicktime installed but application reports it needs to have that version installed =
Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications.  I recently helped where the person had re-installed their operating system.  It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize.  Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem.  Do this manually, not with Software Update.
Installation get stuck at "configuring installation" - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2592979?threadID=2592979  - uninstall Quicktime before installing.

  • Downloading iTunes Without QuickTime

From the latest update from Apple to iTunes users with Windows XP, there have been many having a problem opening iTunes without receiving an error. The latest resolution posted was to download an older version of QuickTime first, and then download iTunes without QuickTime bundled. This is where the fun begins. All web sites I have searched so far claim to have the iTunes download without QuickTime, but they all include QuickTime with the download.
Does anyone have an idea of where you can download iTunes without QuickTime bundled? Thanks!

Have you tried downloading the installer for Quicktime Pro 7.3 + iTunes and running it?
It should come up with two options "Repair" or "Uninstall" ... then choose repair and it should install iTunes 7.5 ... try that and see if it works. Instead of downloading iTunes + Quicktime, you download Quicktime + iTunes ... I know it's the same thing, but the installation of Quicktime is then checked first, and that accounts for the "Pro" paying customer part.

  • Need itunes without quicktime and cd burning

can i get itunes without quicktime and cd burning? i don't need it
and of course a version working on vista 64

Unfortunately, iTunes will not function properly without Quicktime (usually by popping up the 'iTunes has encountered a problem' message). It's needed for iTunes to play media.
Also, any 64 bit edition of Windows is unsupported by iTunes, and has a whole lot of problems with CD burning/importing. More information on that is listed here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301301

  • HOW TO: Install Itunes without Quicktime/Bonjour - Windows 7

You need iTunes without the bloat? Don't know what the bloat is? I'll help you. Now I don't know if this has been explained elsewhere, I only found some older topics and google results that didn't explain all the points required so I'm redoing it.
_NOTE: DO THIS ON THE DESKTOP_ (You'll see why later ;D)
    First is the Preperation;
Get the appropriate iTunes (my instructions are from the point of view of 64bit but they won't differ all that much)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Go here and download the newest one (at time of writing thats QT Lite 4.1.0):
    http://www.vistacodec.com/fc/QT_Lite-410.exe
Please download/move/save these to the desktop.
    The Extraction
Right click on the iTunes64Setup.exe [iTunesSetup.exe for 32bit]
Navigate to your extraction program, I'm using 7zip so I navigate to "Extract Here". I'm sure you can go it alone if you don't use 7zip (because more fool you)
Then we will have a bunch of exe's and msi's on the desktop, of which we now need to delete several.
    This is the Deletion;
If you don't want both Quicktime and Bonjour, which I'll assume you don't because they impact performance and limit your control of media files, then you need to delete:
    Bonjour64.msi
    Quicktime64.msi
If you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch then skip this one point (though I have an iPod Touch I don't yet intend to use it with iTunes so I still deleted this, after all you can install it later from this single file). Delete:
    AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
Now this is an important one, all updates must be done manually in this exact same manner, just come back here and follow the instructions again, otherwise iTunes will include the bloat in the update. Delete:
    AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
(Ignore SetupAdmin.exe, because I don't know what it does :D)
    Almost there, but first it's the +Linux Experience+;
In you're start menu there should be a "Command Prompt" shortcut, click it. If not don't worry, on your start menu click "Run" and type in:
    cmd.exe
Press enter and Bob's your uncle.
Otherwise right click on your desktop in empty space, highlight "New", select "Shortcut" and the location is:
    %windir%\system32\cmd.exe
When that's done just click the shortcut and Fanny's your aunt.
Now you'll notice that each line begins with:
    C:\Users\YOURNAME>
That's because it's the location this terminal is currently navigated to, like a web browser or the plain old windows explorer, just text based though.
We need to change the directory you are in and the command for this conveniently is:
    cd
And this is why I told you to do it all on the Desktop, because now all you have to do is change directory to the Desktop, which is one folder away. So, type this in the terminal (that's the command prompt window):
    cd Desktop
You'll notice that the prefix has changed to:
    C:\Users\YOURNAME\Desktop>
    That's good
Keep this window open and move on boys and girls.
    Next, the biggie, +Installation Part One+;
We're mostly borrowing from this lovely persons thread, so I ought to give it a mention:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1704004&tstart=15
Now we follow the last step on the thread linked, in case you're a philistine here it is...
In that (command prompt) terminal window, type:
    iTunes64.msi /passive
For those with 32bit i can only imagine it would be:
    iTunes.msi /passive
Then just sit back and let it run silently until you recieve an error message pertaining to the failure of iTunes without "Apple Aplication Support", when this arises just click ok or whatever shuts it up and move to the next step.
    Lastly, finally, is +Installation Part Deux+;
Double click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and just follow it through leaving everything as it is.
Then, remember that other download I got you to do? QT Lite? Well double click on that and install it. At the end tick the "Configure Settings" box and just tweak them to be supaqwik, like maximising the web cache or whatever. Use your judgment.
When that's done click apply/ok and... we're done!
Just click/double click the itunes icon and you'll see an improvement straight away.
Sorry if this tutorial was a bit too much like a Quentin Tarantino film for ya' but I gotta keep my brain from leaking out my ears, somehow
Enjoy, and if it's been done before I just hope it hasn't been done better.
I looked all over the internet and using the linked thread and some smarts; I got here, with you, and iTunes sans bloat.

QuickTime is required for iTunes to run. You can think of iTunes as a media manager "front end" to QuickTime which handles the actual playing of the media.
Safari was an optional install when I installed iTunes on my Windows system. I wasn't forced to install Safari. MobileMe is also no longer automatically installed, though it will update if it finds an existing installation. I didn't get it forced on me when I installed on my Vista system.

  • Can't launch iTunes without Quicktime.

I can't launch iTunes. It's telling me I need quicktime 7.5.5. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest versions of QT and iTunes and rebooted several times, and I'm still getting the same error message. It was fine 30 mins ago, now it's not working.

    'morning.
Try to uninstall your iTunes & reboot then download Quicktime without iTunes http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ when installed, (reboot if prompted) & download & install the latest version of iTunes here http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ .

  • Download iTunes without Quicktime?

Is it possible to download iTunes for windows without getting Quicktime? If so where?
Failing that is it still possible to download an earlier version of Itunes what has Quicktime version 7.6.2 or earlier.
The reason that I ask is that there is a conflict between Quicktime 7.6.3 & Sony Vegas video.

    Ditto!
I have the same issue. Why should I pay again to upgrade software I have no wish to upgrade, in order to be able to take advantage of a free upgrade to a free product.
If anyone can answer this, feel free!

  • Itunes can't play recent TV Show (downloaded via itunes) without Quicktime and can't sink same show to IPod??

    Problem 1:
I recently bought the HD Season Pass to Please Like Me's second season, and when I went to go watch the first (and as of this writing the only) episode, Itunes kindly informed that I needed QuickTime to watch it. Installing Quicktime has not solved this.
The QuickTime pop-up also came with a 'more info' button which according to that link, QuickTime is needed for older media (which considering this season is of the more recent variety (aka THIS MONTH) I would consider this to not be 'older'). Itunes otherwise more or less outright says that media of any variety should be able to be played just by Itunes, especially if you literally just bought it off the Itunes store.
Itunes is updated to the most recent version. I'm running on Windows 8.
    Problem 2:
With the same aforementioned media, when I tried to sync it to my Ipod Touch (5th Gen, up to date), I was greeted with the lovely little message that more or less said that 'x was not synced because x cannot be played on this Ipod'. Following this I went to the iTunes store on my Ipod and downloaded it from there and lo and behold, it has downloaded with no problems.
So why is it that I had to go the more roundabout way and time consuming way to transfer the episode?

    Hello bianca729
I would check to make sure you can download the show again. If you can, then delete the show and download the TV show again. If it still not working, then report the issue with the download with the other article below.

  • Install iTunes 8 without QuickTime

I'd like to install the new version of iTunes without installing QuickTime. How do I do this? And why does Apple not have this as an option for the installer?

Apple doesn't ask you about 4 programs it install with itunes including quicktime. I believe that quicktime includes some codecs mp4, m4a that itunes depends on, so you won't ever be able to install itunes without quicktime. There are other free softwares if you just want to put music on your ipod without itunes.

  • ITunes upgrade-QuickTime certificate error message

Music, Home, Movies, TV Shows page in ITunes store won't display on my screen for more that 2 seconds, appears and then immediately disappears from view so that I can't use page to do anything, can't buy music, etc. But ITunes University will display. I've tried to update to the newest version of ITunes 10.2 but when it is installing, I get the message that there is a problem with the Quicktime certificate and it aborts the install. Do you know why the Music page won't stay on my screen (all playlists and toolbars remain but all the content on the Music page just disappears after 2 seconds)? There is no option to just upgrade ITunes without Quicktime so I'm stuck. What to do?

Try turning off User Account Control in the control panels.
    To disable UAC:
    1) Go to the Control Panel for Windows Vista
    2) Search for the User Account control panel
    3) Select the account being logged into and choose to disable User Account Control.
You can turn it back on after iTunes is installed.

  • I want itunes without Quick Time 7.0

I was given a $50 gift card for itunes. Like a dummy, I signed up and downloaded itunes. With it came QuickTime 7.0.
I have an older Kodak Easy Share DX4330 digital camera which takes great pictures and short movies. However, the movies are only compatible with QuickTime 5.0, new versions create annoying vertical lines on the movies. Even when I download newer Kodak software, I get the dreaded QuickTime 7.0. I would rather watch my saved movies than listen to downloaded music so I have uninstalled both itunes and QuickTime 7.0, which come together, MicroSoft style. (It seems Apple has learned some things from MicroShaft). I have $50 in my itunes account, which I cannot use because I don't have itunes on my computer. I still use QuickTime 5.0, which is fine. Is there any way I can get itunes without QuickTime 7.0, or just uninstall the QuickTime 7.0?

Actually, I think the only reason you need QT 7.x is to watch video, because the H.264 codec only works in QuickTime 7. To just listen to music with iTunes you need QT 6.x for the AAC audio codec. On my desktop Mac I'm running a very recent iTunes which works, but complains that it wants QuickTime 7, but I'm still running QuickTime 6.5.3 because QT-7 will kill my ancient Avid...
On MacOS, it is possible to "hide" the QuickTime Player application before upgrading and thus keep the older version available after installing the new version...I don't know what the limitations are on Windows, but it might be possible to keep the older version of QuickTime around for watching videos that don't play right in the new version.
But I would wonder why the old videos don't play right in the new version. Which codec did the older movies use?

  • ITunes 8 *without* QuickTime 7.5.5?

I want to upgrade my iPhone to 2.1 (who doesn't!), so I need iTunes 8 (as I understand it).
I don't want to upgrade my QuickTime to 7.5.5 (I'm in the middle of a Final Cut Pro project, and QuickTime updates are rarely forgiving). I've heard that iTunes 8 only needs QT 7.5.5 for HD TV shows playback, so if all I'm looking for is the iPhone upgrade...
Can I install iTunes 8 without installing QuickTime? Does iTunes 8 mess with anything else (it should be pretty self contained, I know)?

    Ben R wrote:
With all respect, Paul, that's why I'm asking the question.
Thats fine. I am just making a point since you mentioned that you were in the middle of a project - at the very least you should wait until you are done before risking an incompatibility. The reason - You really cannot install iTunes without upgrading Quicktime - You may be able to hack the installer, but we cannot talk about that since it would not be supported by Apple

  • Can i update Itunes WITHOUT installing Quicktime?

Is it possible to download an Itunes update without downloading Quick time or are they inseparably bundled?

    I don't need QT. I don't use it.
If you're going to use iTunes, you DO need it. iTunes requires Quicktime in order to function.

I use Itunes but Quicktime player produces a problem with another program. Can I uninstall Quicktime but still work with iTunes.
    Thanks for the answer.

Thanks for your answer, but the other program has nothing at all to do with a player. And I don't need to play the songs (have no videos) with itunes. I only need iTunes to work with my iPhone. Can I deinstall the player then?
