Itunes won't burn playlist

I've been searching the web trying to find answer to this but so far came up with nothing. I had itunes on my pc for while use it a few times to burn my playlists and today I try to burn a playlist it came up saying disc recorder not found. Before that when I open itunes to run it say "the registry setting from itunes for burning and importing CD and DVD are missing this can happen as a result of installing another CD burner software. Please reinstall itunes." which I did several times so far... I ran a diagnostic

i have a 2008 imac with snow leopard.  i installed update 10.9.3 not realizing it's best for Maverick's users.  Now my Itunes 11.2.2 won't burn playlists to CD.   Anyone else with this problem?  CAn I uninstall the 10.9.3 update?  Also my HP scannerwill not save the displayed scanned document since this update!  it just saves gray.

If you have your old system backed up then erase the drive and restore your backup. If you don't have a backup then backup your entire Home folder. Erase the drive and install Snow Leopard after which you can restore your Home folder from the backup.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
    Or you can:
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.3 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.3 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 Update (Combo).

  • ITunes won't burn a CD after 10.4.7/6.0.5

This is an echo of the post, "iTunes won't burn audio or data CDs"
The subject pretty much says it. My Dual 2.3MHz G5 is a little over a year old. I noticed this yesterday, the first time I've tried burning an audio CD from iTunes since both updates. Whether I select the built-in superdrive or my LaCie FW CDR/DVDR, after clicking "burn CD", iTunes reads the playlist, checks the media, and begins the "initializing disk" task; but right then the iTunes display changes to "canceling disk burn", and displays an error window. The disk seems completely untouched. I seem to be able to burn a CD OK in Finder. I haven't tried making a non-audio CD in iTunes. I have restarted a couple of times, including a shut-down-and-cold-start. I am now officially out of clues.
Can anyone help? I am Terminal-friendly. TIA...
    PowerMac G5 Dual 2.3GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2.5GB RAM Radeon 9600 video

Another interesting idea. Didn't seem to do it for me. Went down to 2x, tried both my built-in and my external drives. One change is that I now see the "preparing disc" progress bar before getting the "canceling disc burn..."
Interesting, to compare with Kevin's, is that if I have a disc already inserted, it ejects and I need to re-insert.
I might try downgrading to 10.4.6 if I can figure out how to do it, and maybe to iTunes 6.0.4 (if I can find an installer). I'll report any results.
I sure hope this is some simple bug that gets fixed soon...

I have Windows 7 on a Dell.  Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2).  Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode.  This has worked for me.  I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc.  These ideas did not work.  Compatability mode works.

  • Help: iTunes won't burn cds for me

I recently got a new laptop-- a Dell Inspiron 700m (Windows XP, Service Pack 2, etc.)-- and when I try to burn a playlist in iTunes, it says that my disc burner or software are not found. I'm able to drag and drop files onto the cd icon in my computer and burn files that way, so I know the cd burner works. And I've been able to burn songs in Windows Media Player. So what's wrong with iTunes? In Properties on my hardrive, the hardware tab recognizes my CD-RW/DVD burner drive: NEC DVD+RW ND 6650A and V386 STEALTH DVD SCSI CdRom Device are listed.
Can anyone help me? Does iTunes just not work with some cd drivers? If not, then what do I do with all my iTunes songs that won't play in Windows Media Player? Are they convertible somehow, even the ones I purchased from off the iTunes music store?
I'm so frustrated! Any help out there is much appreciated.

    Hello TigerJon
I've had what appears to be the same problem as many many more people on this site, but I'm not sure if my issue is the same as yours.
For mine, the problem is Itunes hangs when I try to burn a cd.
I haven't got a complete fix, after 4 months of trying but I've got as far as I have with the help of Toonz and the people at Apple.
Now here is what I have found:
    1. The problem with my Itunes hanging at burning only happens if I have a mixed playlist that I am trying to burn. When I say mixed I mean a mix of purchased tracks and uploaded tracks from my cd collection. Just uploaded tracks work fine.
    2. If I just burn a playlist of purchased tracks it works fine too.
    3. If I don't control alt delete when it hangs, and I wait for up to 2 minutes, the burn evenutally kicks in. Don't do anything. Just leave it and see what happens. I was having to control alt delete to get out of the unresponsive Itunes, but by chance, yesterday, discovered that by leaving it it finally burnt my cd! This was a mixed cd with both purchased tracks and uploaded tracks.
Now, the people at Apple don't yet know why this is doing this. It only happens since version 6 of Itunes. This version (I think) was the first to introduce the "checkingplaylist" stage of burning and they seem to think that it might just be something to do with that.
Anyway, that all helped me. It is still frustrating to have to wait for a couple of minutes, but it's better than nothing. They are still trying to get to the bottom of this for me, too.
    I hope this helps you.
Please give me some feedback if it has, as I'd love to know that all my efforts over the last few months could help others!
    Good luck
    Jane

  • Itunes Won't burn a cd

When I first click on the iTunes icon to open it, a window comes up reading:
"The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning cd's and dvd's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
Afterwards I tried to burn an audio cd from a playlist in my iTunes library, but an indicator reading "No disc Recording Software Found"
I reinstalled iTunes 4 times and even downloaded the update to no avail, iTunes still won't burn cd's. I have a Dell Diomension 2400 with a dvd/cd burner drive, the operating system is Windows XP with a Norton 360 security system. Over the past month I have been installing and downloading other programs that deal with cd's/dvd's but I'm still not totally sure what the issue is as many of these programs are now uninstalled (there is a window media player, a Real One Player, two Xilisoft converter programs were recently uninstalled and deleted as well as a cd audio convertor program).
I am not very computer literate so any help, insight or ideas would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • ITunes broken? Burn playlist stopped working

Was burning a series of CDs from my iTunes library. Working great, then suddenly stopped working altogether.
Inserting a blank CD will open it in the finder as a burnable disk. Clicking "burn playlist to disk" no longer causes anything to happen.

I'm having a similar problem, but without any error message at all.
I have a number of audio files that I created myself using garage band.  These were converted by Quicktime to .mov audio files and loaded into my iTunes library.  Before I upgraded to Snow Leopard, I was able to burn audio cds from playlists containing these audio files with absolutely no problems.
After upgrading to Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.8) my software update told me that I also needed to update my iTunes.  What a mistake that was!
Now, when I select a playlist and tell it to burn an audio cd, it asks me to insert a blank disc.  Then it looks like it's starting to prepare the disk image - at least for a couple seconds.  Then it just quits and goes back to the state it was in before I attempted the burn.  The cd is still inside the drive and the only way I can eject it is to quit iTunes.
I might add that, since all these files are my own original creations, none of them are protected in any way, so there is no reason for iTunes not to allow them to be burned on as many cds that I want.
I know my disc burner is working because I am able to burn audio disks using the 3rd party software called "Burn."
The audio files are also OK, because I can play them in both iTunes and with Quicktime.
I really hope someone has an answer for this.  I need to burn a lot of CDs.  My church choir members use them to practice their singing parts.  The "Burn" application I am now forced to use works, but it is very awkward to use.  I wish I had never "upgraded" my system.  I GUESS IT REALLY WAS A DOWNGRADE!

  • ITunes won't burn CDs anymore...

I've tried several times to burn a CD from iTunes. It used to be fine...it will burn all the way through, then stumble a bit on the final song, taking a few minutes longer than necessary, then it will say it's finished, but when I try to play it, it doesn't work. On iTunes, it will show the little speaker to the left of the song, skipping from one song to the next very fast, but won't ply anything.
    Any help?

  • My iTunes won't burn a disc.

It says, the attempt to burn disc failed. An unknown error (-3) has occurred. How do I burn a disc?

same problem. Im using itunes version 10.6.3, I converted wavs burnt from cd, to mp3 using itunes, these were  NOT PURCHASED from itunes, and when I try to burn an mp3 cd using the new mp3 files, they convert to wavs before my eyes every time i create a new playlist of the mp3. The mp3 revert to wav within less than 30 seconds. As if itunes is saying, let me help, I substitute the higher quality 1411 wav files for you. And of course, now they wont burn to mp3, because "they must be converted to mp3 first" before burning.
But every list of the mp3 version of the files keeps reverting to 1411 wav files?
    WHats going on? Thanks

  • ITunes Won't Burn More Than One CD at a time...

(I am sorry if this is in the incorrect forum)
When I attempt to burn more than one CD (one right after the other) using iTunes I get an error message stating that the computer cannot calibrate enough laser power...and it spits the CD out. If I wait a few hours/restart it works again— anyone know if this is just an iTunes problem?

Maybe I misunderstood your post, but this sounds like a suggestion rather than a problem.
You can provide iTunes feedback here:

If your post was a question, post back and I'll see if I can help.
I hope this solves your problem!

  • Itunes won't burn my cds anymore. Please help.

Whenever I try burning cds from itunes, it indicates that the music is being burned, but it does it incredibly fast. Then when I try to listen to the cd in a cd player, it makes a funny noise and nothing happens. It seems that itunes is somehow managing to install blank files on the cd; when I insert it in the player, the number of songs that should be on the cd appear on the little screen. Then when I hit play, "1" appears and then it shows the seconds going, as it normally would with a working cd (as in, we're ten seconds into song 1), but as I said, no music is coming out. I use "Verbatim" cds and initially I thought maybe they don't work with itunes, but then I realised I have successfully burned music from itunes onto Verbatim discs before, so that can't be the problem.  Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi Disillusion16,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue burning a CD in iTunes and possibly a second issue related to performance. Take a look at the articles below, they provide troubleshooting suggestions that will resolve most issues like you've described.

  • ITunes will not burn playlists after loading the ION USB Turntable software

Loaded EZ vinyl converter, which allows copying of LPs and importing them into ITunes. All went well with first album and it can be played on my computer. I cannot burn a disc- either the LP I loaded or music already there.
    The discs are good.
    Any others with this issue?
    Any solutions?

All my LP downloads go well and they sound great over the computer's speakers, but I can't burn anything, either from iTunes or from Windows Media Player.
I even deleted the turntable software and tried burning, with no luck.
And, I haven't gotten a response from the ION folks.
I don't want to take the computer to my local fixer, only to find that there's a simple software solution.
