ITunes won't connect iPad

I have hooked up my iPad to my laptop but iTunes won't bring it up as a device. I am using Windows 8.1, and the latest versions of iTunes and I have the latest version on my iPad. I do see my iPad as device in my laptop directory so I know my USB cable connection is good. Any help would be appreciated.

my ipod touch was submerged in water and now it is telling me to connect to itunes, but itunes won't connect until i put in the passcode, and i can't do anything to my ipod until it connects to itunes. so, basically i can't do anything from the ipod or to it from the computor. what should i do?

    Restore...
From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

  • After installing Norton Antivirus to my PC, iTunes won't connect

A few months ago, after getting a nasty virus, I had Norton Antivirus installed on my PC.  Since then, my iTunes won't connect to the store.  This wasn't a huge deal until I got an iPhone, now it's a constant issue.  Has anyone had a similar issue or know what in the world to turn off/on to make it work again?

What iPad117 is describing is recovery mode. this will need a restore in itunes to be able to use the device again, clearing all data. If you want to avoid this, try this first: Try a different usb port. A lot of ports are not compatable with some iPads. One in the back of the computer is usually best. Also try a different cable, and make sure itunes is up to date.

    Hi,
What security software is running on the PC? The security software could be causing the issue, try to reconfigure or temporarily disable it.
You can also try flushing the DNS as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1527

  • On my windows 7 machine, itunes won't connect home sharing with apple tv

On my windows 7 machine, itunes won't connect home sharing with my apple tv.  This problem started about two itunes updates ago.  Any thoughts?

Try a search of the forums or the "More Like This" section to the right.
Also might have better luck posting to the Apple TV forum.

  • Itunes won't connect to the internet...HELP!

itunes won't connect to the internet everytime i try to accsess the itunes store it says there a connection error and that i need to check my connection. I know i am connected to the internet on SPRINT BROADBAND. What can i do?

I am having the same problem. Upgraded from 8.0.1 to 8.0.2 Everything worked fine before the upgrade. Since the upgrade I can connect to the internet but Itunes will not connect to the itunes store. Network is fine. There is no problem with my firewall. The problem is with upgrade to 8.0.2. I did a system restore to yesterday and itunes is back to 8.0.1 and is running fine. I tried the update again and back to the same old problem. Spent about 6 hours searching for the answer but I have found nothing. If I restore itunes back to 8.0.1 it works and connects to the itunes store. If I upgrade to 8.0.2 itunes will not connect to the itunes store.

  • HT4623 phone is locked with a passcode and I don't have the passode, it says connect to itunes, and itunes won't connect because it says to enter passcode on phone. The device also does not show in itunes so I can't restore

iphone 4s is disabled. It says connect to itunes. Itunes ays could not connect because phone is locked with a passcode and to enter passcode on iphone before it can be used with itunes, but I can't enter the passcode because 1) don't know it 2) it's disabled. The device also does not show up in itunes, so how can I restore the phone or unlock it?

Same answer as last time you asked the exact same question:
HT1430 Iphone 4s says disabled connect to itunes and itunes won't connect because phone locked with a passcode. I don't have the passcode to unlock the phone

  • My itunes won't connect to the itunes server. Can someone help?

My itunes won't connect to the itunes server. Can someone help?

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes forums.
When you repost, you'll need to include a lot more informaton about your system and the exact nature of the problem. As it is, there's nothing for anyone to base a diagnosis on.
    Regards.

  • My iTunes won't connect to the iTunes store why?

My iTunes won't connect to the iTunes store why?

Hey, I had the same problem with the itunes not connecting to the store thing, I recommend checking your firewall and stuff make sure itunes (or safari) is not blocked, if everything is ok with that (apple apps not blocked), Uninstall Itunes, safari, quicktime icloud and whatever apple app you have on your computer. and get an earlier version.... the problem in some cases? Apple Application Support on itunes 10/quicktime 7 and later, a flaw that apple has to work on I recommend downloading a earlier version of itunes

  • Itunes won't connect to active WiFi

I've read all the forums and topics but still haven't found the answer to why iTunes won't connect to the WiFi at my home. I have no password on my WiFi. Other computers in the home use it just fine. Safari on iPhone works great. I reset the network on iPhone and chose the home network. There are plenty of bar showing it's active but I keep getting the same message in iTunes that it can't connect to iTunes because it needs a WiFi connection. What else can I possibly be missing. I've been using Mac since '84 so I'm quite experienced with all settings and what they do but this one has me stumped. What can you suggest. (new iPhone 3G)

You are not connected to your WiFi network as you do not see the WiFi symbol on the iPhone you can see the 3G symbol. The iTunes Store on the iPhone does not work via 3G it only works via WiFi.
Clearly you are not getting access to the internet via your WiFi.
You should turn on WiFi on the iPhone and then you will see the iPhone searching for wireless networks. Your WiFi should appear in the list and you should then select it by touching it in the list. It should then have a tick mark against it in the list. If it does then touch the blue circle next to the WiFi name which will show you the details of the WiFi you are connected to, if the screen does not contain IP addresses then you are not connected to the internet, even though you may have WiFi connection. Are you sure the WiFi you are connected to has working internet?

  • ITunes won't connect to iPad after clicking "Don't Remind Me" to 4.3.1

I told iTunes not to remind me about the 4.3.1 upgrade and now my iPad won't connect to iTunes at all. Every time I plug it into my Macbook, iTunes just hangs.
I've hard re-booted my iPad, iTunes and my Macbook but none of these things seem to have helped.
    Any suggestions most appreciated!

Thanks Nick. Tried both of these with no success.
The iPad is operating VERY slowly now. So it obviously has problems.
However I suspect my iTunes is also having issues, as I've tried restoring THREE of my old iphones and none of them work. iTunes fails every time.

  • My itunes won't connect to my ipod and it says that my ipod can't be used because the apple mobile device isn't started. help please?

I haven't changed anything on my ipod and nothing has happened to it, but it won't connect to my itunes even to update apps. I updated some apps on itunes and they haven't been updated on my ipod. I also can't put songs or anything else onto it.

  • Can no longer WiFi Sync.  iTunes won't connect to devices.

Since downloading iOS 7 and iTunes 11.1.1 I can no longer WiFi Sync my iPhone5, iPad, or iPod.  Error message states, "iTunes could not connect to this device.  Could not allocate a resource."  What does this mean?  Never had a problem before.

I have the same problem  On the phone with Apple support over the course of a few days without a solution.

  • Itunes won't detect ipad 2

I've installed and re-installed the latest itunes 64bit on my win 7 machine. yet itunes will not detect it.
I've tried multiple usb cables. tried differnt usb ports yet to no avail.
every so often it will detect and let me sync but 99% of the time its an everyday battle to get my ipad to detect on itunes.
I have an iphone 4 that seems to detect fine. yet i can't figure out why ipad 2 wont detect. I've even restored my ipad 2.
I've tried everything I can think of.
I even formatted my computer, download itunes and install it on a fresh system and same problem.
I'm at my wits end. I can't understand why its so hard to detect it.
device manager sees it fine. but itunes locks up when i connect the ipad 2. if I disconnect it, itunes becomes available. Everytime I connect my ipad itunes throws a fit and becomes unusable for like 5 min, a very long pause as it thinks about something.
anyone have a workaround for this?
I went to the apple store and a tech there told me, buy a mac, that will sole your problem....seriously?
then he said or uninstall and reinstall. which I've done several times, that does not fix the problem.

So glad I stumbled on this particular post. And unfortunate that no seems to have a solution. I have the EXACT same symptoms: brought back an iPad 2 tonight, and it took me about 10 times to connect/disconnect the USB cable, change port on the PC, change the USB cable, rset the iPad, etc, before iTunes would see it. The PC recognizes it fine, but iTunes freezes until I disconnect the USB cable. Very annoying.
I've also tried starting iTunes before and after connecting the iPad 2, to see if it would make a diff.
I was able earlier tonight to have it recognized, to sync everything up. But now it's acting up again.
PC runs the latest iTunes 10.2.1, iPad is now on the latest 4.3.1, and the PC as well as iTunes sees the iPhone 4 fine everytime, and runs smoothly otherwise for everything. I do believe the 'handshake' between iPad 2 -> iTunes is somewhat not working.
[ADDITONAL COMMENT] Forgot to mention: I had a iPad 1 before, and it was also working fine every time.
