ITunes won't connect to iPod

I've recently been having problems with my iTunes and iPod. I have the latest version of iTunes and have probably uninstalled it and reinstalled if a million times but it still won't connect to my iPod which is basically brand new. Every time I plug my iPod into my computer freezes. So then I have to unplug the iPod and a message comes up on my computer that says the iTunes file that reads iPods was not installed correctly. But uninstalling and reinstalling it doesn't seem to fix anything so I haven't been able to update my ipod in awhile. Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it???? If so, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you only reinstalled iTunes, it might be worth reinstalling all the iTunes components.
Here is a method for uninstalling them before you reinstall iTunes:

The symptoms are not the same as your, but I guess it might be relevant.

  • ITunes won't connect to iPod due to an unknown error (0xE800000A)

    Hello all,
I have had my iPod touch for more than a year and I really love it, having had no problems whatsoever. However, a few days ago, I realized that it wouldn't mount in iPhoto or QuickCapture. I did several tests and decided to do a restore. Backed up my contents on my computer through iTunes. Now the iPod has been restored, I can't even connect it to iTunes. When I plug in the USB, I keep getting the above message. Have tried several USB ports to no avail.
Not only is my iPod now musically empty, I cannot even restore its backup since I can't connect it to the cpu.
    Please help!
    Mac: OSX 10.7.3
    iTune 10.6.1 (7)
Ipod touch 4th Gen IOS  5.1.1

    Thanks again,
I have looked carefully. Have tried the USB maneuver to no avail.
I cannot find any filed named Lockdown using the "Go to folder" in Finder...
    Any suggestions?

  • ITunes won't connect with iPod

Whenever I plug in my iPod, it begins to connect, but instantly goes to the "Now Ejecting" screen.
It won't even show up on iTunes either.
This might be because last time I was updating it, an impatient somebody unplugged it mid-download and a little bubble popped up and said that there may be problems with the iPod.
    The bubble was right.
    halp.

  • ITunes won't connect to Ipod touch

Hi I have an iBook G3 with OS 10.4.11. The latest version of iTunes I can download is 8.2.1. I just bought an iPod Touch 3rd generation 32 GB from which I thought I could use with this version of OS and iTunes. Turns out when I plug it into my laptop, it says that this version of iTunes will not support iPod Touch. When I go to the download page for iTunes, it says that 8.2.1 does support iPod Touch. I tried redownloading 8.2.1 to no avail. Can someone please help me? I am in the process of trying to save enough money to buy the new MacBook Pro but until then I need help!
    Thank you

It does seem odd that a Mac with 10.4.11 and iTunes 9 will not sync.  The Apple page for the OP iPod model states 10.4.11 and iTunes 9: http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC008?mco=MTM3NzY1NzA  So if iTunes 9 did properly install it is curious what the issue would be?  >I tried installing the iTunes 9 and it installed but still when I plug the iPod in, it says I need 10.1 or later of iTunes

  • My ipod touch was submerged in water and now it is telling me to connect to itunes, but itunes won't connect until i put the passcode in my ipod, and i can't do anything with my ipod until it connects. what should i do?

my ipod touch was submerged in water and now it is telling me to connect to itunes, but itunes won't connect until i put in the passcode, and i can't do anything to my ipod until it connects to itunes. so, basically i can't do anything from the ipod or to it from the computor. what should i do?

    Restore...
From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

    Hi NYYJMM,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may want to reset your iPod nano and then sync again. If the issue persists, restore your iPod and try again. See these articles for the steps:

  • ITunes won't recognize my iPod

I was synching my ipod the other night and iTunes crashed. After being connected for an hour it would not do anything. I went to task manager and it said iTunes was not responding. So I shut iTunes down from task manager. Now when I attach my iPod to my computer it is recognized in windows but iTunes does not recognize it and it won't synch. I have followed the first two steps in this link http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US and iTunes still does not recognize it. I was about to try the 3rd step which is this.
On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
In My Computer, open Local Disk C:.
    Open Documents and Settings.
Double-click the folder that bears your username.
If you see a Local Settings folder, skip to step 9. If you don't see a Local Settings folder, proceed to the next step.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Select the "Show hidden files and folders" button.
    Click OK.
    Double-click Local Settings.
Right-click on the Temp folder and on the shortcut menu, click Delete.
In the confirmation dialog that appears, click Yes.
If you are unable to delete the Temp folder, close all programs, especially those in the Notification area (system tray) of the Windows Task bar shown below and repeat step 10.
    Restart your computer.
Install the latest version of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download and connect your iPod.
However, I can't find ANY of the folders they are talking about. I have windows vista on my laptop. I can't find a document and settings folder, a local settings folder, nor a Temp folder. I have selected to show hidden folders in the folder options menu. Can someone tell me how to follow this step (emptying the temp directory and restarting) on Windows Vista. OR, does anyone have any idea of what I can do to get iTunes to once again recognize my iPod.

Here is the latest update in my saga. I decided to hook my iPod classic to my desktop computer to see if the iTunes on there recognized it. I barely use this computer so it did not have an updated version of iTunes on it. After the drivers were updated I got a message in iTunes saying that Tiffany's iPod could not be used with this version of iTunes because it required version 7.6 or higher (or something like that). I took that as a good sign since iTunes obviously recognized the iPod long enough to correctly tell me the name of my iPod. However, after updating iTunes the desktop's iTunes did not recognize my iPod classic either. I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with this thing since Wednesday of last week. I am just really frustrated now. I was hesitant to reformat the iPod because I read in some other posts that people reformated the iPod and iTunes still didn't recognize it. At least now I do have some music on the iPod...but I guess at this point I have no other choices. Any other ideas out there I may be missing? And if I do have to reformat the iPod do I do that by going to my computer and reformating it there since iTunes doesn't recognize it which means I can't restore it using iTunes.

    Hi,
What security software is running on the PC? The security software could be causing the issue, try to reconfigure or temporarily disable it.
You can also try flushing the DNS as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1527

  • After installing Norton Antivirus to my PC, iTunes won't connect

A few months ago, after getting a nasty virus, I had Norton Antivirus installed on my PC.  Since then, my iTunes won't connect to the store.  This wasn't a huge deal until I got an iPhone, now it's a constant issue.  Has anyone had a similar issue or know what in the world to turn off/on to make it work again?

What iPad117 is describing is recovery mode. this will need a restore in itunes to be able to use the device again, clearing all data. If you want to avoid this, try this first: Try a different usb port. A lot of ports are not compatable with some iPads. One in the back of the computer is usually best. Also try a different cable, and make sure itunes is up to date.

  • I deleted some Apple software, now iTunes won't recognize my iPod

So earlier today I removed Bonjour, and the Apple Mobile Device from my computer. Now all of a sudden iTunes won't recognize my iPod, but windows does. Could this issue be related to removing the software from my computer?

Take a look at this web page and see if it helps:
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows
    Good luck.

  • "iTunes Could Not Connect to iPod" Error Message

Yes I know this has been posted many times before, but I am at a loss here, and I really need help.
So I follow the steps I need to do to "Restore" my iPod touch (i have the 32 gig - 2nd gen) and then I see the apple logo appear. It stays that way for a long time, then nothing happens.
I re-open itunes and I still get the error message that iTunes could not connect to iPod.
So, what do I do then? This is why I hate doing updates in my iPod, it just messes up everything.
This after I just did an update on my iPod also - 4.2.

Have you tried placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restoring? See:
