ITunes won't download on Windows 7

I am trying to update to the newest iTunes 10.7 for my Windows 7 PC.  After attempting to download it straight from apple.com, the download begins but freezes right at the beginning when it says "computing system requirements".  I know a lot of people are having the same problem but I couldn't find an answer that has worked for me yet.  Any tips?

hey everyone-
I was able to solve this by going into windows update and making sure all of my updates were up-to-date and that none failed to update.  Try deleting all itunes files, going into windows update and download any updates needed.  Be sure to do the restart afterwards.  Then come back and redownload itunes and everything should install just fine (I walked away for a bit, it takes a little while).  Hope this helps Windows users!

When I click on download itunes, it goes to the window that asks to save the file, then it immediately says thank you for downloading Itunes, but nothing happens, nothing is downloaded. I have followed all of the troublshooting advice posted on the apple website with no success except where it says to try and save the file on the desktop; I cant do that because the "do you want to save this file" window does not give me the option. What gives?

Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
If you can't get a working installer via the standard download links, try the following download links instead:
    iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe

  • ITunes won't download for Windows!

I am trying to download iTunes 11.0.04 on my Windows 7 32 bit.  I try to do it from the Apple Updates thing on my start menu and it says it has and invalid signature.  I go to the website and it says "thank you for downloading iTunes," but it never downloads!  The same thing happens on my Windows Vista and Windows 7 64 bit.  What do I do to download it?  I need it to sync my music onto my iPod touch.

Have you tried repairing your Apple Software Update, as per the instructions in the following user tip?

  • Itunes won't download to Windows 7

Trying to download to 64-bit Windows 7. Do I use the download for Vista 64-bit? I've tried and it doesn't seem to download.

If you have a 64 bit system, you need to download the 64 bit installer or you will not get the correct drives for burning or the iPhone/Touch.
It is generally best to download from the apple site and choose save, to save the installer on your PC before running it. Do you get the "Run/Save" popup?

Perhaps if you gave a little more detail about exactly what you were doing and what the result was, particularly any error mesage.
Then perhaps someone will be able to help.

itunes won't download because something about "mobile device not authorized?"

    Hi buckirich,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  It sounds like you may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service.  This article has instructions for doing this:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567
If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recommend trying a thorough uninstall and reinstall of iTunes as described here:

  • TS1717 iTunes won't open on Windows 7

iTunes won't open on Windows 7.
Error message says MSVCR80.dll is missing.
Re-installing iTunes over the top didn't work, it couldn't get passsed a mobile devices error. Any thoughts anyone?

    Howdy rtih,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes after a recent update. I suggest the troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • My songs from iTunes won't download, I went to the downloads tap and all seven of my new songs say "download error, tap to retry" and when I tap on one a message pops up saying " this song could not be downloaded at this time". What do I do?

My songs from iTunes won't download. I recently just purchased 7 songs and they took my money but now the songs won't download to my phone. I have gone to the download screen on the iTunes app and under each song it says "download error. Tap to retry". When I tap to retry a song a message pops up saying "this song could not be downloaded at this time." And it gives me two options. Either done or retry. I have tried to download them many times. I signed out and signed back in on iTunes, restarted my phone, and even checked for any updates. Nothing seems to be working. They charged the money from my card but now my songs won't download. What do I do?

    Hello Bdev15,
I would be concerned too if the songs I purchased from iTunes were not downloading to my iPhone. You have taken some great troubleshooting steps already, and thank you for providing the details of the steps you too.  I have a few additional suggestions to get it downloaded to your iPhone.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted:
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1725
If the songs still do not download, next I recommend downloading the songs when connected to another network.  For example, if you are using the cellular network, you could switch to Wi-Fi, or you could try an alternate Wi-Fi network.  Follow the steps in the section titled "iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch > Music" in the article below to download the songs:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If you are still not able to download the songs, you can report an issue with these purchases using the steps in this article:
How to report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBookstore purchase

    Best,

  • With Windows 7 Home Premium, whenever I start iTunes, I get a message that colors have been reverted to Windows Basic because iTunes won't support my Windows Aero configuration.  Is there a fix for the incompatibility?

With Windows 7 Home Premium, whenever I start iTunes, I get a message that colors have been reverted to Windows Basic because iTunes won't support my Windows Aero configuration.  Is there a fix for the incompatibility?  I don't mind the color changes, but I'm having an external speaker problem that could be related to the incompatibility (at random times--usually several hours after start-up, my external speakers--connected via my Samsung Central Station's wireless docking station and computer-installed dongle--shut off and won't play until I restart.  I've investigated other options, but iTunes may be the problem.)  Thanks.

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

How long ago did you add the episode? Sometimes it takes iTunes a couple of days (or even a week) to update your listing. As long as you are able to download the newest episode, all of your subscribers should be getting the new stuff too. (It's just folks browsing iTunes won't see your newest of the new; once they subscribe they would get the new ones.)
I would be patient for awhile, as lots of people on this board have been reporting that iTunes has been quite slow on its updates lately. If it still isn't working after a few days, post links to your actual feed (not to the iTunes store link) and let us have a look at it.
BTW, are you aware that you have 2 listings for your "Watkis Words of Wisdom" podcast?
