ITunes won't download or uninstall....

Hello, I'm Bryton Krueger and I would love some assistance here. What happened is that I tried uninstalling iTunes in order to start over new, but it seemed to stop in the middle of the installation and when I go to the control panel and then Change/Remove a program, it shows up as the icon of a computer with a disc infront of it. When I hit remove it starts to but then after an amount of time something will pop up and says "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." It then gives me two options for sources, C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP756.TMP\iTunes.msi and the other C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes 7.6.2.9\iTunes.msi for both it says, it cannot be verified and to make sure i have access to the location, or find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product iTunes. I also tried downloading iTunes from the site, and just as it finishes downloading it asks me to find the program that will uninstall the old version of iTunes, which I have searched for in every folder available but it is nowhere to be found. Someone please help me!

this is mainly to try to help you out to justin, but I am trying something that some1 posted on a diffrent thing and it might work for us, I'm tryin it as i type this message. this is what he said
First download the iTunes installer and save it on your desktop if you have not already done so.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If is generally best to do that and run the installer from your PC rather than updating from iTunes or via your browser.
Now your question...
This message often relates to a problem with Apple software update.
Go to Add remove programs and find Apple Software update. Try repairing it.
Select Change>>repair.
That probably will not work
Then try uninstalling any instance you find of Apple Software update. That probably will not work either.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup
Remove any instance you find of Apple software update with the cleanup utility.
Download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer and save it on your desktop.

Restart your computer and try installing iTunes.

    Hi buckirich,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  It sounds like you may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service.  This article has instructions for doing this:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows

If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recommend trying a thorough uninstall and reinstall of iTunes as described here:

  • My songs from iTunes won't download, I went to the downloads tap and all seven of my new songs say "download error, tap to retry" and when I tap on one a message pops up saying " this song could not be downloaded at this time". What do I do?

My songs from iTunes won't download. I recently just purchased 7 songs and they took my money but now the songs won't download to my phone. I have gone to the download screen on the iTunes app and under each song it says "download error. Tap to retry". When I tap to retry a song a message pops up saying "this song could not be downloaded at this time." And it gives me two options. Either done or retry. I have tried to download them many times. I signed out and signed back in on iTunes, restarted my phone, and even checked for any updates. Nothing seems to be working. They charged the money from my card but now my songs won't download. What do I do?

    Hello Bdev15,
I would be concerned too if the songs I purchased from iTunes were not downloading to my iPhone. You have taken some great troubleshooting steps already, and thank you for providing the details of the steps you too.  I have a few additional suggestions to get it downloaded to your iPhone.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted:
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.

If the songs still do not download, next I recommend downloading the songs when connected to another network.  For example, if you are using the cellular network, you could switch to Wi-Fi, or you could try an alternate Wi-Fi network.  Follow the steps in the section titled "iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch > Music" in the article below to download the songs:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If you are still not able to download the songs, you can report an issue with these purchases using the steps in this article:

  • ITunes won't download because MSVCR80.dll is missing

I have had an iTunes account, and have much music on file.  I have recently been unable to access it because MSVCR80.dll is missing.  It said to uninstall my iTunes, which I did, but now the new version still won't download.
    Help, anyone??

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • ITunes won't open or uninstall

Yesterday everything was fine. Today iTunes will not open or uninstall. Also, none of my video players will work (Nero or Windows Media player). Help!? I don't know what to do! Thanks

I am also having this problem. Only started tody.
Origially I couldn't open the program as whenever I tried the shortcut or the file it came up with a message that said it had been moved.
So I uninstalled and then re-downloaded the setup files and re-installed.
    Now I get the message:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
I cannot uninstall or re-install either, this gives the message:
"The Installer has insufficient priviledges to modify this file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\Acknowledgements.rtf.
    Please help!

  • Podcast in iTunes won't download

I'm a novice at Podcasting but used iWeb and Garage Band to produce a site and podcast that works fine from the Website. However, when I submitted it to itunes and it was accepted, the link supplied won't download. I also have tried using the RSS feed from my Webpage, and that will not download either.
Any help will be most appreciated!!!

Here is the site where the podcasts will play:

Here is the info iTunes sent about the series in itunes - it shows up but won't download:
    Dear Podcast Owner
Your podcast, located at [ http://www.glynn.k12.ga.us/~pgalland/japan/japan/Site/Podcast/rss.xml ], has been approved. You should expect to see it in iTunes within the next few hours. When it's available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.

If you have questions or wish to make changes to your feed, please consult the technical spec at <http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html>http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html. The spec contains detailed information about key topics like adding "cover art", changing your feed URL, and adding other helpful iTunes-specific tags to your podcast.

OK, seems like I located the problem - sort of.  It's not the feed that's the issue, but rather the fact that I'm pushing my MP3-files through a PHP script which does some statcounting. If I access the MP3 files directly, the iTunes app downloads them OK.
So I'm guessing maybe my headers aren't exactly what the iTunes app is expencting? Here's a snippet from the PHP file which outputs the MP3 data:
    header('Content-Type: audio/mp3');
    header('Content-Length: 'filesize($location));
    @readfile($location);

How long ago did you add the episode? Sometimes it takes iTunes a couple of days (or even a week) to update your listing. As long as you are able to download the newest episode, all of your subscribers should be getting the new stuff too. (It's just folks browsing iTunes won't see your newest of the new; once they subscribe they would get the new ones.)
I would be patient for awhile, as lots of people on this board have been reporting that iTunes has been quite slow on its updates lately. If it still isn't working after a few days, post links to your actual feed (not to the iTunes store link) and let us have a look at it.
BTW, are you aware that you have 2 listings for your "Watkis Words of Wisdom" podcast?

  • ITunes won't uprade, or uninstall

My problem is that my iTunes won't launch. I tried to fix this annoying problem by trying to uninstall then reinstall iTunes. This doesn't work because I get a message that says the path to the installation package isn't the right one. After browsing for the exact file and locating it, I still get the same message and I am unable to uninstall iTunes.
Also, because my computer thinks that iTunes isn't valid it won't let me update iTunes, otherwise I'm sure updating would take care of the situation.

I have the same problem. I don't have a solution but a workround is to go to
    c:\program files\itunes
right click on the file called iTunes and create a shortcut.
Right click on the short cut and choose pin to start menu.
This will give you a way to launch itunes until someone comes up with a way to fix this (ROFL)
You can also launch by clicking on any itunes tune usually stored in
    c:\music\itunes music

  • Itunes won't download 1 song from a cd

I have a Cd, Relapse, by Eminem. Itunes downloaded ALL the first 19 of the 20 songs perfectly, and I synced them to my iPhone and iPod Touch, but the last song, Underground, won't download from the cd at all, not on the computer, or any of the devices. The Cd does not have even 1 scratch, it's perfect. Is there a way to fix this, or get the song from iTunes for free instead? Any help is appreciated!

Yes, any tips out there for increasing the likelihood of iTunes Match actually recognizing my music?
Out of about 7000 songs of mine iTunes match only recognized about 2800, and wants to upload the rest.  I've stopped it from doing that because of the big draws of iTunes match was the ability to get higher quality versions of most of my library.  A 40% success rate is not very good.
When I check the iTunes store, the songs and albums that it says it cannot match are clearly there.  I'm not talking about obscure artists, but folks like the Beatles, the Beastie Boys,James Brown (just to name some of the B's).
So, any tips as to how to increase the likelihood that iTunes Match will actually, um, match, most of the songs in my library?
All my ID3 tags are pretty well in order, and iTunes can recognize my songs to provide album art, so why can't it recognize them for Match (I know it uses different matching algorithums for each, but they should bot be equally successful).
If I cannot get this to work, I am going to demand my money back.

  • Itunes won't download on my iphone

My purchased itunes will not download to my iphone, but they do download to my ipod. I have the box checked to download songs. When I try to access itunes on my iphone, it tells me I have to be connected to wi-fi. Thank you for any assistance.

When you sync, do you have "sync all music" checked? Are you getting any error messages?
To access the iTunes store from your iPhone, you do need to be connected to Wi-Fi. Edge won't work for the iTunes store.

But after installing the software on my new Dell XPS400 and downloading music to iTunes, iTunes won't hotsync to my iPod. I can't get any of the music off my new computer except by copying it to disc and moving it to my laptop. This is not very efficient. Please help, someone.
