ITunes won't download to iPod from new computer

I installed my iPod and iTunes software on my laptop pending the arrival of my new computer. I had no problem downloading music from the laptop and still don't. But after installing the software on my new Dell XPS400 and downloading music to iTunes, iTunes won't hotsync to my iPod. I can't get any of the music off my new computer except by copying it to disc and moving it to my laptop. This is not very efficient. Please help, someone.

Engadget has a guide for this.

  • Itunes won't download 1 song from a cd

I have a Cd, Relapse, by Eminem. Itunes downloaded ALL the first 19 of the 20 songs perfectly, and I synced them to my iPhone and iPod Touch, but the last song, Underground, won't download from the cd at all, not on the computer, or any of the devices. The Cd does not have even 1 scratch, it's perfect. Is there a way to fix this, or get the song from iTunes for free instead? Any help is appreciated!

Yes, any tips out there for increasing the likelihood of iTunes Match actually recognizing my music?
Out of about 7000 songs of mine iTunes match only recognized about 2800, and wants to upload the rest.  I've stopped it from doing that because of the big draws of iTunes match was the ability to get higher quality versions of most of my library.  A 40% success rate is not very good.
When I check the iTunes store, the songs and albums that it says it cannot match are clearly there.  I'm not talking about obscure artists, but folks like the Beatles, the Beastie Boys,James Brown (just to name some of the B's).
So, any tips as to how to increase the likelihood that iTunes Match will actually, um, match, most of the songs in my library?
All my ID3 tags are pretty well in order, and iTunes can recognize my songs to provide album art, so why can't it recognize them for Match (I know it uses different matching algorithums for each, but they should bot be equally successful).
If I cannot get this to work, I am going to demand my money back.

  • ITunes won't download all songs from a purchased CD

I'm a choral singer and put a lot of music I'm going to sing on my iPod and then use it to study scores. I just tried to (manually) add 4 "songs" from a purchased CD. The first two came out fine. The third one stopped recording about a minute before the end, and the 4th is no where to be found. Can anyone help. I've tried deleting everything from that CD, rebooting and trying again - with no success. I've only once had a similar problem - and then the whole CD wouldn't download. I hope someone out there can help me. Thanks.

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • ITunes won't recognise my ipod on new laptop

    Hi there
I have bought a new laptop - hp, windows 8. iTunes installed, music copied across.  However when I connect my ipod there is no recognition.  A box comes up saying "my PC" showing the ipod.  The ipod says syncing, then ok to disconnect (in the space of 5seconds) and then it is disconnected and the computer doesn't know it exists!
I know there are lots of threads on here with similar problems but I can't seem to work out which is having the same problem as me! Any help greatly appreciated.

NOTE:  Unless you want to use the iPod as a storage device (like a USB flash drive), there is no reason to Enable disk use.  iTunes recognizes the iPod, whether it is seen in Windows or not.
If you want to use automatic syncing, making iTunes responsible for keeping your iPod "in sync" with your iTunes library, you probably need to set it up (or update it).  Right now, it may "sync," but if nothing is set up to sync, it syncs nothing.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  To the right, its Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music, if not already checked.  This enables automatic syncing.
NOTE:  If that box is currently NOT checked, that means the iPod is set up to add and remove songs manually (not using automatic syncing).  If you set up automatic syncing, the iPod's existing content is replaced, based on how you set up syncing (as described below).  Any songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.  If this is a problem, please post back (I can describe how to add/remove songs manually).  If all songs on the iPod are in your iTunes library, it is not a problem.
If your iTunes library is small enough to fit on the iPod's storage, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) what you want on the iPod from the lists below.  One convenient way to set this up is to create one or more playlists in your iTunes library, and put ALL of the songs you want on the iPod on those playlists.  (Or you can use existing playlists.)  Back on the iPod's Music screen, select those playlists under Playlists.
When you click Apply, the songs in your selections sync to the iPod.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update those playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes automatically.

  • ITunes won't launch after copied from old computer

I copied my iTunes folder from my old computer to an external hard drive. I then copied that folder to a new laptop. My iTunes folder is showing two additional folders - iTunes and iTunes media (has all my downloads listed). However, iTunes won't open at all - I don't even get an error message. Any ideas?

Get rid of Norton's, it's far more trouble than it's worth. This is exactly the kind of thing that happens when you run Disk Doctor or the other parts of the suite, and is why they got out of the Utilities market for the Mac.
    1. Try repair Permissions with Disk Utility
    2. Try Trash the com.apple.iTunes.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder
    3. Try Re-install iTunes. Move the app from the Applications Folder to the Trash, then go to HD / Library / Receipts and trash any pkg file there with iTunes in the name.

  • How do I add music to my ipod from new computer and not loose old stuff from old computer?

Have a new computer and would like to add more music to my ipod. It won't let me keep my old music and add new music. How do I go about doing this?

Thanks for the info...sounds like it might work. So just to clarify because I am NOT a computer whiz...by changing the setting it will keep my old downloads on my ipod and now I can download new music with my new computer and add them to my ipod. My old stuff will not be lost. When I was on my new computer there was a button that said, "On this ipod"...I could see all of my old music, but wasn't able to make new playlists or manage them in any way. Will I be able to manage them? Or will they be "frozen" so to speak?
Also, where do I look for this setting?
Thanks so much for your time!

  • ITunes won't let me authorize my new computer because I already have 5 computers authorized. One of those computers are broken so I can't deauthorize it!

My old laptop is BROKEN so i can't go on itunes to deauthorize it!!! what do i do?! i really can't remember the other 2 computers i used to authorize my account! help me please thanks

    Hi songmii,
go into view your account(Store->View Account)
in that screen after you type in your password go to where it says authorizations and to the right you should see, deauthorize all, click that.
after that you just need to authorize the computers you are currently using(Store->Authorize this computer)
    that should do it
When I'm saying Store, I mean at the top menu where it says File-Edit-View-Control-Store
    hope that helps,

  • ITunes Won't Open Without iPod Connected To Computer

Up until a day or so ago, I was able to open iTunes without the iPod attached. Now when I try to do so, it says the iTunes folder cannot be found or created and that the default location is in the "My Music" folder. When I then attach the iPod to the computer, everything works great. With the iPod attached and iTunes open, I changed the iTune preferences to reflect my actual music folder location (F:\My Music), but I still cannot get it to open without the iPod attached.

    good lord.
okay, it's plausible that you've got two different problems going on at once here.
underlying it might be a version of a drive letter confusion:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
(see also the link to the MS KB doc)
... which is working so that either your My Music folder has either accidentally made its way on to the ipod, or that it's only being seen when the ipod is plugged in.
when it's not being seen, you get the problem described in this document:
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes
... is there any particular reason why you have to have your "My Music" folder on your F drive, rather than your C drive?

  • ITunes won't download or play from cloud.

Upon setting up my new Macbookpro, It shows my iTunes in iCloud as being ready to play.  However, when I click on the song to play it, the system attempts to play it and skips to the next song.  If I click on the iCloud to download it.  I receive an error message.  Things checked:
    1. I can purchase and download new items.
    2. I have a solid internet connection
    3. I can stream podcasts/radio
    4. Ran disk utility to repair permissions
    5. All of my other devices will play from the cloud.
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. Setting up a new Macbook Air.  When I try to download anything I get the error 45054. Tried repairing permissions, etc.

I just bought this thing, all I have is a connected iPod telling me not to diconnect, there's no ipod in the source list of iTunes and nothing seems to be happening. It's been this way for over 30 minutes. Should I just disconnect, reboot and try this over again? It's connected via USB. Thanks for any help.

  • My songs from iTunes won't download, I went to the downloads tap and all seven of my new songs say "download error, tap to retry" and when I tap on one a message pops up saying " this song could not be downloaded at this time". What do I do?

My songs from iTunes won't download. I recently just purchased 7 songs and they took my money but now the songs won't download to my phone. I have gone to the download screen on the iTunes app and under each song it says "download error. Tap to retry". When I tap to retry a song a message pops up saying "this song could not be downloaded at this time." And it gives me two options. Either done or retry. I have tried to download them many times. I signed out and signed back in on iTunes, restarted my phone, and even checked for any updates. Nothing seems to be working. They charged the money from my card but now my songs won't download. What do I do?

    Hello Bdev15,
I would be concerned too if the songs I purchased from iTunes were not downloading to my iPhone. You have taken some great troubleshooting steps already, and thank you for providing the details of the steps you too.  I have a few additional suggestions to get it downloaded to your iPhone.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted:
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.

If the songs still do not download, next I recommend downloading the songs when connected to another network.  For example, if you are using the cellular network, you could switch to Wi-Fi, or you could try an alternate Wi-Fi network.  Follow the steps in the section titled "iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch > Music" in the article below to download the songs:

If you are still not able to download the songs, you can report an issue with these purchases using the steps in this article:

I bought a new Ipod Nano and purchased songs on Itunes.  How do I download the songs from the computer to my new ipod

Connect the iPod to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side you can use the Music tab to select which of your music that you want on the iPod.

  • HELP!  I got a new iPhone and want to download my music from my computer so I don't have to down load song by song on my phone.  iTunes Match won't let me copy it from my computer.  What do I do?

I have iTunes Match and it's been fine until now. I'm trying to download my music to my phone so I don't have to use the wifi to play it all the time.....but iTunes match won't let me copy from my computer without shutting it off. If I do that then turn it back on then I lose all the music anyway.
I'm so frustrated and can't download song by song to my phone.
    help.

If you mean you want to sync your music from your computer to your iPhone you need to disable iTunes Match on the iPhone. Go to Settings > Music and set to iTunes Match to OFF (not green). You may need to wait a few minutes for the change to register with iTunes. Connect the iPhone via USB/Thunderbolt and sync the music.

  • Itunes won't recognize my balance from a purchased gift card so I cannot buy any new songs

itunes won't recognize my balance from a gift card & won't let me purchase anything from the itunes store. How do I fix this?

I have a similar issue.  CD's I purchased were downloaded to ITunes years ago and used on my 1G and 2G Ipods and 3gs Iphone.  They are still on my ITunes but won't sync to my I phone 5.  curious if this is a licensing issue or flaw in the system.  Would love to hear my old CD purchased music without having to buy new digital music. Any insight to this situation would be great.
