ITunes won't install, can't remove old QT components

I'm running Windows XP, and when I downloaded iTunes and tried to install, it said it couldn't remove the old QT version, and it couldn't install iTunes. I tried manually removing QT, and the program's gone, but not only does it still show up in my add/remove programs list, iTunes still thinks it's there. So, it still won't let me install iTunes. Help?

  • ITunes-Won't upgrade, can't removed old version, can't add new version,etc

I just bought a new Ipod yesterday, 30GB Photo/Video. I connected my Ipod however it was not responding to the old version of iTunes which I had, this is when the problems started.
1st. I tried to update my iTunes, I tried with the new disc which came with my Ipod and also from the internet. I tried running and saving the program - both times I received a Error Msg as following:
Error 1406. Followed by some numbers and letters as well as: Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
2nd. I tried to remove my old version of my iTunes to see if I could then use the CD to add the new version, however when I tried to do so I got this Error Msg:
Error 1402. Could not open key: followed once again by some numbers and letters as well as: Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Followed by Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation
Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
Seems like I've tried everything to install, update, and even delete my old version of iTunes to try and get the new version, nothing seems to help. I never had this problem before with my old Ipod, but I'm ready to switch over to my new one. SOME ONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!
    Thank you

I tried following the steps in the Troubleshooting, however I cannot complete them all as I cannot remove the older version of my iTunes from my computer.
I've emptied my Temp directory and restarted with the same result.
One thing I noticed is I cannot seem to find my Windows installer anywhere on my computer. Could this be a problem?
I've turned off my fire wall, turned off my anti virus program, and updated my computer all with the latest updates.
I've tried placing the program in different locations to see if this would work, but no such luck.
This is what I receive when I try to add the new iTunes from the CD:
Error 1406. Could not write to value to key\CLSID\{7A7FB085-6068-4898-8CCA-480A9187277C}\Local Server 32. Verify that you have sufficient access to that Key, or contact your support personnel.
If I press ignore and try to continue with the download it's followed by more errors:

  • Can't remove old episodes from iPod sine Update!

I have a Shuffle & usually carry 3-5 episodes each of 8-10 different podcasts.  Sine installing the new iTunes for Windows, I can't remove old eps from the device, & it's a total crapshoot as to which NEW episodes the system will allow me to click on!!
    HELP!!!!!!

There are several ways to add podcast episodes to the shuffle, so please correct my assumptions in a reply.  How you add podcasts determines how you remove them.  I can't tell how you do it from the info you provide.
It sound like you may add podcast episodes manually (drag and drop to iPod).  If you do, and your shuffle is 3rd or 4th (current) gen, you should consider doing it using automatic syncing, by putting podcast episodes on a playlist (in your iTunes library and syncing it to the shuffle).  Update the playlist at any time, by adding new podcast episodes and removing old ones (the shuffle does not need to be connected).  Put the podcast episodes in desired order.  iTunes automatically updates the shuffle the next time it is connected (or by clicking Sync if already connected).  On the shuffle, you can listen to podcasts from that playlist, and hear episodes from different podcasts consecutively, in the desired order.
When you remove podcast episodes manually, is this the way you do it?  Again, this is for 3rd or 4th gen shuffle.  Select the shuffle in iTunes, so that you see its "management" screen.  In the sidebar, under On My Device, click Podcasts.  To the right, the podcast episodes currently on the shuffle are shown.  Select the one(s) you want to remove an press Delete on the keyboard.

You simply need to correct your birth date? Don't create a new account.
    Go to https://appleid.apple.com/
Sign in with your Apple ID and password. Choose "Password and Security" from the left column, answer your security questions, and fix your birth date under Select your birth date.
    Save
    Done.

  • How can I remove old devices from my iTunes-Mediathek?

How can I remove old devices from my iTunes-Mediathek?

That's a very general question, so here are two documents from Apple for using automatic syncing and manually managing content.
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB - Apple Support
Manage content manually on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod - Apple Support
If your question is actually about removing content (you know how to add content), you are probably using the manual method to add content, and don't know how to manually remove content.  For iTunes 12, on the horizontal bar that goes across the iTunes window (near the top), click the Music button near the left end.  Near the middle of same bar, click Playlists.  The sidebar appears along left side of window and Devices, your iPod is listed.  Click the small triangle to the left of the iPod's name, to drop down its content list (indented below iPod).  Click Music there.  To the right, the list of songs on the iPod is shown.  Select the song you want to remove and press Delete on the keyboard.  You can do this with one or more songs selected.
You can also use the iPod's "management" screen.  Select the iPod in iTunes, so that you see its Summary settings screen.  In the sidebar, under On My Device, click Music.  This is the same as on the "content list" described above.

  • ITunes won't install. PLEASE. HELP. URGENT.

iTunes won't install. My PC got reformatted. Now, I can't install iTunes. I've been trying to install it for like 3 months now, then it still won't. I've tried to remove it completely, following the guidelines Apple has given. AND ALMOST EVERYTHING.
Then the other day, I was really really happy that I got it installed, I removed AVG Anti-virus from the PC and turned off ThreatFire. I thought that was the end of my problem, then yesterday, when I opened iTunes it won't work again! So I tried to re-install it, following every guideline. Still, it won't install! In the installing process, around "Registering iTunes automation server", I ALWAYS get the message "Some of its required files are missing. Please re-install."
I REALLY DO NEED YOUR HELP.

Describe what happens when you try to open iTunes - do you see anything? If there is an error message give it in full.
If there is no error message open the task manager (ctrl alt del) and look on the processes tab, do you see iTunes.exe there and does it stay there.
Try opening Quicktime - does that work normally, iTunes cannot work if QUicktime doesn't. If it doesn't work, describe what happens and give any error message.

  • Can't remove old CC

    Hello all,
I haven't had a credit card in my name since about three years ago, when I first made my iTunes account. Since then, I have removed that credit card from my account and have made do with iTunes cards.
The place I usually bought cards at had none, but they had the gift credit cards, so I bought one of those and used it in iTunes. Now, I can't remove it from my account.
I owe about two dollars on my iTunes account and bought a gift card, added it to my account, but since it will not allow me to remove the old credit card, it won't take the money from the card. I can't update my apps or download the movie I bought the card to buy.
I can't seem to find any help on the issue.
To re-iterate, before people come in to tell me how to do this:
I have gone to the itunes store, gone into my account and billing info. I have the option of Visa, Mastercard, and Amex, and that is IT. There is no "None" option or any other option.
I can't even find a way to contact support about this and just get the info wiped off. :/ So any help or work around people may have would be appreciated.
Oh - I do not have the credit 'gift' card any longer. I sliced it up when I moved last month and chucked it, since it was used up.

    Well, I believe you!
Reply back to them with the same case number. Explain that there is a bug that has been reported here on AD.
If anything is wrong with the current payment method (expired card comes up most often) then you're correct. The NONE button is not an option.
    Example: http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11460834&tstart=0
The workaround for other folks has been to add a completely different credit card that is not expired, but as you explained, you don't have one. Maybe they will have some other advice for you.

  • Itunes won't install update to recognize my iphone comes up with a error cannot find Itunes.msi

my itunes won't instal the update errors saying cannot find itunes.msi

    Hi, kdub5.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you can not update iTunes due to a .msi error.  I would recommend uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components as outlined in the first article below.  For any component that gives you the .msi error, go through the steps in the second article below.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" alert appears when you remove Apple software in Windows
    Cheers,

here is a photo of my (iTunes WiFi sync)

  • HT203756 How can I remove 'old' or 'incomplete' backups from iCloud?

How can I remove 'old' or 'incomplete' backups from iCloud?
When I attempted, the iPhone 6+ message asked if I wanted to remove ALL of the backups... without giving me the option of selecting the specific one I wanted to remove.
I had performed 'backups' of my old iPhone, but, when I tried to RESTORE to the REPLACEMENT iPhone, at least one of the iCloud backups shows 'incomplete'.  There was no 'error' on the original iPhone...when it 'failed' to complete the backup.
Now, I would like to 'clear up' the 'storage' on the iCloud, but am unable to select specific ones. I can either keep all instances or shut off iCloud Backup which would, according to the message, remove/delete ALL of the BACKUPS.
    This shouldn't be this difficult.....

I too wondered how you remove apps from iCloud.  Judging by the quantity of questions, comments, suggestions and replies (some rather rude) there is a clear need for Apple to make their literature a lot clearer.  The page describing what iCloud backs up refers to "app data" as an item which is backed up.  To the uniniated this might mean the app program but it seems not.  The app is "bought" via iTunes or the App Store and details of your purchase (free or otherwise) is held there separately on the server.
It would be nice however to be able to remove the reference to junk I have downloaded and decided I don't want so that it doesn't appear on the purchased apps listing!  Apple please note this.
It must be remembered that Apple products come pitifully supported by manuals "out of the box" on the assumption that it is so easy to use the product that no explanation is needed.  They forget that most buyers of Apple products (me included) don't know (and don't want to know) how they work, so when something is not obvious they are required to plough through Lord knows how many web pages of "knowledge base" material until they find an answer.
All I can add is that it is worth spending time reading the multiitude of discussion threads before asking the question yet again...

itunes won't install. I get a message stating "apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priveleges to start system services. I had itunes on this laptop and an urgrade came. Now nothing. Windows7, 64 bit

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
