ITunes won't install - Error 7

I tried to install the new itunes version the other day on my ipod touch but got an Error 7 message followed by this:
the procedure entry point kCMPyteStreamNotification_AvailableLengthChanged could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia.dll.  It also told me to re-install itunes but I didn't after reading some other posts that said it didn't help to do this.
I've read other posts talking about QTXX.dll problems but this one seems different.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks.

Hi!! I finally found a solution
I´m Sure this one will work for everyone
-First you have to uninstall all Apple Software using Control Panel
-Download Unlocker Software from softsonic heres the link http://tinyurl.com/3e8gj2h
or google it
-Install Unlocker
-Go to Start and type this in search: %programdata%
-ProgramData window will open, so find apple folders
-Right click in each apple folder and find Unlocker in the options
-Choose Delete each apple folders (with unlocker program)
-Go to My PC, C Local Disk and find Program Files
-Look for Apple folders and Delete them (with Unlocker)
-Find a Folder (in Program Files) called Common Files
-Delete all Apple Folders (in common files) with Unlocker
- Empty your trash can (thats what i did)
-Reboot
-Install Itunes
Note: You can Reboot or use Safe Mode to use Unlocker if it doesnt work.
....and that's All
AFTER Days of frustration LOL
Good vibe, Love and Blessings for all!!

  • Itunes won't install - error message "Later version already Installed"

I'm a stumped PC Windows XP user - I have downloaded the last few updates to Itunes and each one has said that I already have a later version of Itunes installed. I have uninstalled, deleted and cleaned up all files as suggested by Apple and even gone to the trouble of manually editing the registry to delete all Itunes, Ipod and QuickTime references to see if that will sort it, to no available.
The bit I don;t undersdtand is how can a aletr version than the current one exist unless there are version numbering or date issues.
Anyway I have had to regress to version 7.1.1.5
Any clever people have a clue.... All help much appreciated

    iTunes won't install.
Says error writing to file C:\Program Files\itunes\itunes.resources\da.lproj\AboutBox.rft
Does anybody know what I need to do to fix this?

I am the administrator, so this can't be a rights problem. The error message says "error writing to file c:\program files\apple software update\softwareupdate.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory".
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive, as per the following document:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    Hi, kdub5.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you can not update iTunes due to a .msi error.  I would recommend uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components as outlined in the first article below.  For any component that gives you the .msi error, go through the steps in the second article below.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Itunes won't install. Error message: Apple Application Support not found.  What is the fix for this?

It is always these four updates that fail.  I've tried downloading and installing them seperately from apple downloads.  I've tried various recommended fixes, and nothing I can figure out works.  Before these problems, itunes worked on the computer for a year.
Thank you again for wanting to help me.

  • ITunes won't install. PLEASE. HELP. URGENT.

iTunes won't install. My PC got reformatted. Now, I can't install iTunes. I've been trying to install it for like 3 months now, then it still won't. I've tried to remove it completely, following the guidelines Apple has given. AND ALMOST EVERYTHING.
Then the other day, I was really really happy that I got it installed, I removed AVG Anti-virus from the PC and turned off ThreatFire. I thought that was the end of my problem, then yesterday, when I opened iTunes it won't work again! So I tried to re-install it, following every guideline. Still, it won't install! In the installing process, around "Registering iTunes automation server", I ALWAYS get the message "Some of its required files are missing. Please re-install."
I REALLY DO NEED YOUR HELP.

Describe what happens when you try to open iTunes - do you see anything? If there is an error message give it in full.
If there is no error message open the task manager (ctrl alt del) and look on the processes tab, do you see iTunes.exe there and does it stay there.
Try opening Quicktime - does that work normally, iTunes cannot work if QUicktime doesn't. If it doesn't work, describe what happens and give any error message.

  • Itunes won't install. AMDS won't uninstall

Itunes won't install. I've tried to uninstall itunes and all apple software so that I can install the latest version. But it won't let me uninstall apple Mobile Device Support. Can anybody help? How do I get iTunes back? Whenever I try to install the latest version it gets stuck just after checking the AMDS.

There is no text error message. The install of itunes just freezes on the "Checking Space Requirements" bit (which is immediately after it checks AMDS.
Hmmmm. Possibly a disk/file damage issue there, tom. If so, running a chkdsk over your C drive might help.

  • What is the problem with the newest version of iTunes (Failed to install - error 7

What is the problem with the newest version of iTunes (Failed to install - error 7 & missing MSVCR80.dll) - the DLL is not missing.  tgried to install today and it failed - what a waste.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall go to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

    Daniel Walsh

    Hi,
I have had the exact same problem. My girlfirend got me a nano for Xmas. I have finally got it working tonight.
I can't take credit for this as some other clever sausage suggested it on here. I'm looking for his entry so I can thank him as it has worked for me. Have a look at the following link from Microsoft.com:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
I would check that the symptoms it describes are applicable to your computer.
I have had amajor stress but wanted to pass it on as I know how frustrating it is. After 4 weeks I have finally got it working.
I hope it works for you too.
    Chris.
