ITunes won't install on my computer (Windows XP-Pro)

I have a laptop Windows XP-Pro. I go to the apple website and click download iTunes.  A box pops up stating to save file iTunesSetup.exe
I click save file, the website changes to "Thank you for downloading iTunes", but nothing happens.  The file isn't saved and no downloading begins.
Help!?!?!

Hi sahgin,
The issue eventually resolved itself, I still don't really know why. I kept up with Windows update, and attempted downloading iTunes again from the Apple website, and it just... worked. It now works fine. I don't know why it took approximately 4 months to work, though.
I'm sorry I don't have any more helpful information. Posting here was my last resort, and clearly Apple never bothered to reply.

The computer is current on Windows update. I originally had iTunes installed and it worked fine, but would absolutely NOT update-- it would download the first 25.50 MB, then never finish downloading the rest of it, time out, and give me an error message. I just got an iPhone 5, so I can't connect my iPhone to my computer anyway, because it requires iTunes 10.7 to work.
After restarting and trying a variety of fixes to see if I could get it to work, I decided to uninstall iTunes AND ALL OTHER APPLE PRODUCTS, just to be safe, ran a complete hard drive check on both my main and secondary hard drives to make sure there were no errors, and try installing it again from scratch.
But now, the installer will download, but it won't install anything. If I double-click, or right click and hit Run as Administrator, it pulls up a dialog box briefly, then closes out. It will not run. It does not give an error, it just pops up a dialog box then closes without telling me anything. At all. I've deleted it, redownloaded it, restarted, verified that my computer is up to date at least 5 times, and it never, ever, works.
I just ran across another suggested fix that suggested I extract the files and try installing the individual components separately. When I tried doing that, I got this error message:
!   C:\Users\Chloe\Downloads\iTunes64Setup.exe: The archive is corrupt
So. What the **** is going on? I am downloading directly from Apple. If I could download the entire ~300+ MB file directly to see if it would work, I would, but I can't find it anywhere. I am really frustrated with how much time this has taken. Otherwise, my computer runs fine.
I've downloaded iTunes on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, I also tried deleting all cookies and temporary internet files in between installations. I've tried a lot of stuff. This is driving me absolutely bonkers.
Thanks for any help you've got.
I'd be happy to share any other computer information that might be pertinent, just ask.

  • Itunes won't install on my computer

Itunes won't download on my comnputer. It says errors ocuured during installation. Your system has not been modified.

That has been my experience, as noted, because that terminates all extraneous things using memory, running in the bacikground, etc.
With a Windows PC I now just download and restart every time and don't bother trying to install immediately.
Glad it worked out for you.

  • ITunes won't play music/ videos on Windows 8 Pro

iTunes worked on Windows 7 Pro. I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro, and now it won't play any music or videos.

Yup, this Audio but no Video WAS exactly the same trouble I was having, on my MacBook and iMac but not the other 2 MacBooks. This was due to the speaker settings at the bottom right hand corner of the iTunes window. I do use multiple speakers via Airtunes, on the two that were having trouble but not the other two, and although the speakers were only set to the computer it still wouldn't play the video content.
Whilst the audio (of the music video) was playing I then went to reselect multiple speakers, which brought up the "*failure to connect to remote speakers network refused connection*" warning, then I unchecked the remote speakers to leave just the "Computer" and hey presto the video came to life.
Thank you Charles C n Miami and hope this extra info helps.
    Happy Music Video Watching

  • ITunes won't open on my computer, windows 7

Hi, so basically for the past few days I have been trying to open iTunes.
I click on it and it acts as though it is about to open and then just doesn't run at all.
The process comes up when I have Task Manager open, but goes away after a few seconds.
I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, repairing itunes and quicktime, updating both programs, deleting all files after following a tutorial to uninstall all apple programs, then reinstalled, still nothing.
I have tried changing the compatability type, that did not work.
Then, I saw somewhere saying that I should create a new user on my computer and open it there, so i did and it opened fine. I switched users and logged in as myself and tried to open itunes and a message came up saying that I needed to close the other user's itunes first, so i did that, then came back onto mine AGAIN and tried to open it and it just didn't, again.
I have looked through so many discussions and tutorials and nothing will help.

If iTunes has been previously installed, I would recommend completely uninstalling iTunes and all of it's components in the order specified in the article below.  Once this is done, attempt a download and install iTunes.

  • Itunes 10.2.2 won't install on my computer. I have tried everything in the support list already, please help

itunes 10.2.2 won't install on my computer. I have tried everything in the support list already, removed all apple files, quicktime, itunes(older version) from the software lists. re-starterd computer, new installations, nothing will help. I have an ipad and an ipod but I can't use it anylonger because my computer refused to install itunes 10.2.2. Please help

This procedure might work or might not work:
Uninstall iTunes according to Apple's directions here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Download the free Ccleaner and repair your Registry
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
Then download/install iTunes again from the Apple website
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Your iTunes content will not be removed,
Please regularly backup your iTunes content to external medium (hard drive, cd/dvd's) using the File>Backup Library in iTunes. Apple will not reissue new copies of content.
(Notice: this post is a copy/paste in a hope that a uninstall/reinstall and repair of your Registry may solve your particular issue, Windows issues are particular difficult to resolve due to multiple factors, so my advice is to be taken into advisement with others recommendations which may be more specific or experienced in resolving your issue. My iTunes won't update on my computer. I have windows vista. I can open up itunes and when I click on "check for updates" it asks if I want to download iTunes version 11.1.5 and I click "Download iTunes" but then nothing happens. Sometimes uptop the loading bar will appear but for only a split second. I have tried restarting, shutting down, I cannot figure out why it won't download. What's happening and how do I fix it?

Try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\CommonFiles\Apple\AppleApplicationSupport\icudt46.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error.
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (Although the procedure is for Vista and 7 and you've got XP, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

Perhaps first try a complete uninstall/reinstall as per the following document:

... but if no joy there, check on your .NET framework as per the following document:
