  • ITunes won't let me edit songs

when i try to edit a song in itunes, everything is greyed out and won't let me change anything. When i run the program as administrator i can (BTW i am an administrator on this computer) but its a hassle having to do this everytime i open itunes + it doesn't show what i'm listening to in MSN. This obviusly wasn't a problem when i had XP. How do i fix this?

I've already tried that to no avail. And the weird thing is, some i can edit and some i cannot.
I was looking at another folder, where I have other music and the permissions for the folder for "Users (AdelynMAIN\Users) doesn't have modify or write check marked but i can edit music in that folder. The one in the main music folder everything is checked for "Users (AdelynMAIN\Users)" and it doesn't work...
Now if i move a .mp3 from the main to the other folder, everything is still greyed out.

  • ITUNES WON'T LET ME EDIT SONG INFORMATION!!!

I want to edit the song infomation. but when i go to Get info and the folder where the artist, album, track numbers, etc. it won't let me change any of that. how do i get rid of this because i can't manage any of my music

Make sure they are not read-only. You might also need to take ownership and full control in vista permissions.

  • ITunes won't let me edit song info or art

iTunes keeps me from editing song info or art on some tracks.
This happens all of the time, with no ryhme or reason that I can understand as to why it picks the ones it picks...for example:
I just tried to edit 4 tracks i had imported the mp3s of. I highlighted all of them, and changed the album art. 2 tracks changed, and the other two still had no art. I highlighted the two of them, and changed it again, this time 1 of them changed. I tried playing the stubborn track, and now it has a odd characteristic that wasn't there before i started this...now when I start the file playing, it plays the first 1.5 seconds, then plays them again, then plays the song. iTunes seems to think this is normal, and doesn't skip backwards...it just plays it like it was added on making the song longer. I try to add the art again...no luck...now there are 3 unwanted introductions...try again? now there are 4. Still no art. This completely perplexes me.
I am using windows xp media center, I have already stopped both WMP and WMC from accessing track info from the internet.
    Anyone have any ideas?
      Windows XP Pro

Sounds like the ID3 tags are messed up on those songs.
iTunes imports using v2.2 tags. Convert the tags to v2.3 and try adding the artwork.
    Right-click > convert ID3 tags
Also, make sure they are not read-only files.

  • ITunes won't let me edit song info

I can't make any changes to the track information in iTunes. Since many of the entrie in CDDB are incorrect or poorly done, I like to correct them. That's how I roll.

The tags don't get updated by iTunes unless you change them in iTunes.
It is WMP or Zune software updating the tags then iTunes reads them.
Windows Media Player is changing the ID3 tags.
    Open Windows Media Player.
    Go to Tools -> Options.
    Click the Library tab.
Under Automatic Media information updates for files, uncheck everything.

  • ITunes won't let me edit CD and song information?

I've added some cd's to my library and iTunes won't let me edit song information or add artwork.

There is a much easier way of solving this rather than converting all of the tracks to AAC..
    1) Go to where the album folder is stored on your PC and right click on the folder.
    2) Click on properties and unselect the box that says 'read only'.  After clicking apply, click OK to confirm changes.
    3) Now iTunes should let you edit the song info and add artwork

  • For some unknown reason, Itunes won't let me edit Audio info

So I recently synced 1891 songs to my iPhone 5. Whilst the process was completed successfully I noticed where in my itunes library all of the artists were organised accordingly. But suddenly, due to some kind of idiotic magic a lot of my music had missing information/wrong information. Oh well, this happens I thought placidly believing that all I had to do was fix the info myself. But lo and behold for some unknown reason Itunes won't let me edit any of the info of the music on my Iphone 5. Why? I don't know. But I know for a fact that none of the music is "Read-Only" because I check and I did the same process with the same files on a different computer. My new computer (currently using) is authorized and everything seems to be in order, I have no idea why this isn't working but some help would be appreciated. Please. I'm sick of having to read forum after forum after doing the simplest things on Itunes, please someone from Apple answer my question with efficiency, or create a less convulted program

  • ITunes won't let me edit my iPhone's playlist

Recently bought a Windows 8. ITunes is not letting me drag songs on to iPhone playlists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A temporary fix is to click on the top tap named "on this iPhone".  Next, toward the bottom you'll see "Autofill From:", select your new playlist and it will load new music.
    What new playlist?
The OP already has some playlists created and want s to add to those specific playlists.
An iTunes library is not a playlist.

  • ITunes won't let me edit the song titles

I click on a song title, and click the Get Info and it won't let me edit the song.
The text is light gray instead of being black. When it's black I know I can edit it.
I don't know how this happened... can someone please help me??

    Its one of two things,
    1) You don't have the rights to those files/location
    or
    2) The file is read only. Don't change just change the folder rights, go right to the files and uncheck readonly.
Of course it could be something else I'm not aware of.

  • ITunes won't let me import songs from folders

hey for some reason iTunes won't let me import some songs, but it will others. I've checked and there is no difference between the songs, they're both MP3's, they have the same quality and they're even by the same artist!
Any ideas why and how I can fix it are helpful.

I having the same problem. I noticed that some videos were missing from my itunes TV Shows playlist. Also, when I tried downloading a file into my ipod, I got an error message stating that the file was not compatiable with my iPod. Only I got the file from iTunes! I've tried deleting everything and reloading with the same results. It will not upload several files. Most of which are already AAC. I've tried adding, importing, and copy and paste with all resulting in failure.
This is becoming a total pain in the rear. If it's not one thing, it's another. I mean every since iTunes 7, the bugs keep mounting, and that before I switch to a Vista OS.

  • ITunes won't let me edit album/ track info

Just added some albums to iTunes library but some tracks are missing and have been
Put into another album, can't change the track info iTunes won't let me, what am I doing wrong?

Song files can sometimes have their Read Only status activated when moving from disk to disk. In iTunes, select one song giving your trouble, and press Ctrl-R. Right-click the file, and choose Properties. Read Only is probably checkmarked.
You don't need to uncheck each file individually. You can right-click on your My Music folder and opt to remove the checkmark on all items it contains with one click.

  • ITunes won't let me transfer songs to my iPod

iTunes used to let me transfer songs fine, but now it transfers a few and then tells me the file is "corrupt" and that the disc "cannot be read from or written to." Please help -- restoring the iPod hasn't worked at all!

    See this troubleshooting article.
Disk cannot be read from or written to error syncing iPod in iTunes.

  • ITunes won't let me buy songs

I try to click to buy something and itunes won't let me buy it, no messages pop up, it just does nothing. I click and click and click, and nothing happens.

I too had this problem after I redeemed two $50 gift cards.  I solved the problem by uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it.  Give it a try.

  • Itunes won't sync my new songs into my iphone 4s

I would like to know why one of the last itunes updates won't let me sync music into my iphone 4, instead it added music I don't want and I looked for these songs on my itunes library so I could delete them hoping this would this would fix the problem and they're not even in my itunes library. I find this strange since when my iphone wouldn't sync these songs that I did want and added songs I didn't I tried to sync my ipad and everything went well. Also, when I want to play a certain song on my iphone it goes to another one that I don't want and plays that one. I want to know how to fix all these problems, thank you.

I was having the same issue and it was extremely frustrating for me. I tried everything short of restoring to an earlier backup, but what worked best for me was plugging in my phone and looking at summary>options> and clicking convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps. It worked for me, although I'll be the first to admit that I don't know why. I have about 2,900 songs in my library, so it did take an hour and a half for all of the songs to convert and then sync in their new forms, but I was so relieved to have the issue taken care of that I really didn't mind. I hope this helps, and good luck!!

  • ITunes won't let me take songs off iPod

The library screen on iTunes shows my iPod listed in the source box. However, when I click on my iPod the screen won't let me open up, erase, export etc. songs from there. All the songs are muted gray and can't be activated by clicking on them.

The songs are "greyed out" because you have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. If you want the songs to be bold and selectable/editable, then you need to change to manually managing your songs.
Please not that by editing/changing/deleting the songs on your iPod in this manner, the changes will not affect the songs in iTunes, only on your iPod.
