Itunes won't let me transfer new music to my iPhone 4S

I recently had an issue with Filevault and unfortunately had to have my Macbook Pro wiped clean. I have yet to transfer all of my old files from my external hard drive back on to my computer, but since then have downloaded some new music. I have been trying to sync my iPhone 4S with my computer in order to transfer music on to my phone through iTunes for the past few days and it just won't let me. I have tried troubleshooting using a few websites, and have made sure that allowing iTunes to automatically sync when I plug in my iPhone through a USB port is checked. I really would like to put new music on my phone. Please help!

Hi there elliephantttt!
Sometimes the most reliable way to sync your phone with your computer will be through a manual sync. You can set up your computer to manage your phone this way by following the steps in this article:

Hope that helps you sync with your computer! Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

Syncing music via iTunes is only one way: from iTunes to your iPod.  If you need to copy the music from your iPod back to your PC, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to do this.

iTunes used to let me transfer songs fine, but now it transfers a few and then tells me the file is "corrupt" and that the disc "cannot be read from or written to." Please help -- restoring the iPod hasn't worked at all!

  • ITunes won't let me transfer some of my music to my iphone

Hopefully someone can help me with this issue: I have recently had to rebuild my entire library (lesson learnt:always do a back up), however since doing that back up my iTunes has decided to pick and choose what I can put on my iPhone.  For example: I had an album on the phone that had no artwork so i wanted to transfer the new version with the artwork but iTunes won't sync it with the phone yet it did for other albums. All my music is working fine in iTunes.
I have the 'Manage Music Manually' box ticked and have always done that with my phone and iPod but now I'm running into problems.
Both my iTunes and iPhone are up to date.
P.S. My OS on mt laptop is Windows 7
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help

LadyLaRee, I can understand how losing contacts can be frustrating! First, which Android do you have? If you have numbers from Facebook, those cannot be edited because the information is coming from the user's Facebook profile. Also, your contacts from Yahoo may only have the email address which is why it is showing that way. They would need to update the number on their profile. The settings will vary by phone, but if you open your contacts, press the Menu button, you will normally have options for View or something similar. You can select which contact groups you want to show or not. Verify which options are checked. You can deselect Facebook or Yahoo if you choose. You will also have an option to only display contacts with phone numbers.

  • Hi I've purchased music but itunes won't let me transfer it to my iphone. This has happened since the last update and is happening to my brothers iphone also on his laptop. any suggestions?

    HI there,
my laptop recenty went kaput and needed a new hardrive which was installed. When I got it back I downloaded itunes again and then bought some music. I connected my iphone and it would not allow me to transfer the music over to the iphone at all. It allowed me to pull all the music on my phone over to the itunes list which I realised at that point did have my usual music list on it. I can't seem to transfer any music purchased over to my iphone for love or money. This is happening to my brother on his itunes account also and he said it's happened since the last update on his. Any suggestions - I'm quite desperate as this is driving me nuts.
    Many thanks,
    Sarah

    Plug in phone to computer.
in iTunes click on your device and then Music Tab.
Deselect the playlist in question, and click sync
    Try your sync again

  • ITunes won't let me transfer all of the songs on my iPod to my library!

Okay, I have had an iTunes account & iPod on a desktop computer for the past 3 years that my parents set up. (I get a monthly allowance that's linked to my parent's credit card.) I just downloaded iTunes onto my new laptop (this computer), and followed instructions to transfer my music from my iPod to my laptop library. It only worked for about half of my songs, and told me that this computer (the laptop) was not authorized to play the songs that had not transferred. I re-authorized the computer, to no avail. Anyone able to help?
(Also, on my iTunes display, there is no "shopping cart", just "store" and "purchased". Why is this?)

  • My old computer crashed, my new one won't let me get my music off my iphone or put new music on it.

So i had my iphone connected to my old computer.  It crashed.  However i had my work computer that i was going to use.  My work computer is connected to my ipad.  I can plug my iphone into my work computer and see everyting on it but i can't copy all my music onto my work computer or put new music from my workcomputer onto my iphone.  My Itunes on my work computer is authorized as well.  HELP pleae! Thanks!

If you bought your music from iTunes, right click on your iPod in the device list and choose "transfer purchases".
For all music you did not buy via the iTunes store, you'll have to use 3rd party software like Touchcopy for example.

  • ITunes won't let me connect to music store

Yesterday I opened iTunes and a window popped up saying something about my iTunes library was damaged. Then all my playlists vanished, along with about 2/3 of the music. I went ahead and uninstalled iTunes 7.0.0 and reinstalled iTunes 7.0.2 and reimported my library. Since reinstalling 7.0.2, iTunes won't connect to the music store. I get a message saying "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
Of course, I can get online just opening a webpage. ran a diagnostics and it says a network connection could not be made. I clicked on the help tab and tried to empty the cache, and the dos window had the message: could not flush the DNS resolver cache: Function failed during execution.
I have done all that I know how to do. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • I imported a cd into into itunes but it won't let me transfer the songs into my iphone

I imported a cd into itunes but it won't allow to transfer them onto my iphone, what should i do?

Why not, any errors when attempting to sync the content the iPhone?

  • I just switched to the newest version of iTunes and it won't let me transfer the music on my computer to iTunes anymore.

Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

A little more description, if that's not too hard for you.
If you "switched" you've had an older version before and most probably also had a library. So the new iTunes version still uses that library. Thus you have your music on your computer in iTunes already, no matter if the songs are in their original location or in the media folder. In both cases they're on your computer.
If you speak to drag 'n drop - this still works, of course.

  • HT204074 iTunes won't let me transfer some of my music

So I have music that I purchased on my iPhone and I want to transfer it to my iTunes on my computer. It will transfer almost all of my music, except about three albums. It keeps saying I need to authorize my computer, however it is already authorized.
I've already tried deauthorized and re-authorizing my computer and it still hasn't worked
    Any help would be awesome!
    Thanks

    Hello there, hey33brittany.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for the issue you're describing:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
Although all of the scenarios may be applicable, many folks find that the following section helps resolve their issue most often:
Authorize using the correct account name
The items you're trying to play might have been purchased using a different iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item, follow these steps:
Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you'll need to use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.
Note: The account name that appears is the one you used when purchasing the item and does not change if the account name (Apple ID) changes.
If you've authorized the Apple ID that is shown in the Summary tab, you can check the purchase history for that Apple ID from Store > View My Account. If your purchase history does not reflect the purchase of the items in your iTunes library, consider any other Apple ID you may have created, and authorize the computer for your additional Apple ID.
If you forgot the password to one of your accounts, you can recover it using Apple's password-recovery website.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • ITunes won't let me add new songs to established playlists - what's wrong?

I'm more than frustrated. Yesterday, everything worked fine! I created 3 playlists and did the drag/drop of songs into the playlists. Today, I bought more music. Those songs show up in my library. But ... when I try to drag/drop the new songs into the established playlists, the playlists don't update. No new songs.
    iTunes 6.0.4.2
    Windows XP Home
    Thanks!
      Windows XP

I'm really a novice at this ... I just found the added songs. I thought they would be put in alphabetically just like the first round. They weren't ... they were added on the bottom.
Sorry for my stupid question. ::sigh::

  • Itunes won't let me transfer tunes to my iPod touch

Itunes has stopped transferring music to my iPod touch even though I have enough room on it . I can still transfer to my ipad though , this has been going on fro two weeks and is very frustrating . I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it several times but it makes no difference . I am using windows 7 . Sometimes on start up I get a message which tells me that itunes is not communicating with my ipod properly and gives me an option to try and fix it but even though I press ok , nothing changes . Please help I am going stark staring mad

    - Try another cable unless the other device works OK witht he same cable
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • ITunes Match hanging, unable to transfer new music from Mac to iPad

The iTunes on my Mac (and my Mac Book) hangs indefinitely when it supposedly is matching.  I added three music files (average 45 min. each) and cannot find a way to get them to transfer/sync to my iPad.  I am at a loss as to what

Ok, disable iTunes Match while holding down the Option key (Shift for Windows) and restart your computer. Re-enable iTunes Match (click "yes" when asked to "add this computer"). This ought to clear up the glitch.
