ITunes won't open because of computer settings

I'm trying to install iTunes on my boss' computer so we can access his work-related iPad/iPhone app purchases. We keep getting the error "The iTunes application could not be opened. The disk you are attempting to use is full."
This error made no sense to me because his hard drive has over 200GB free. I finally figured out that iTunes automatically creates folders in "My Documents" that it needs in order to open.
The problem is that on campus, "My Documents" is universally mapped to an individual network drive - NOT the C drive. And this drive is too full to support iTunes.
I tried manually moving the folder over to the C drive, but iTunes automatically recreates the folder on the networked drive when I try to open it.
How can I change where iTunes does this when I can't access iTunes at all?

Okay. Try instead creating a new library on your C drive, using the instructions in the following document:

    1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Info.lib file:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    3. If that fails, repair your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • My Itunes won't open on my computer

I have a macbook pro, and for the past two days my itunes won't open. I keep getting an error message stating "The itunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred. (13010)"
I restarted my computer, i uninstalled and reinstalled, but all to no avail. I really don't want to lose my music!!
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks...

Think of iTunes as a CD player that's broken. Just because you broke your CD player (or replaced it, as reinstalling implies) doesn't mean that you don't still have all of your CDs. They're two different things stored in two different places. The music is all in tact in the iTunes Music folder while iTunes sits broken in the Applications folder.
Mine is broken too. Supposedly deleting the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file will fix this problem. It works for most people. Just do a spotlight search for it.

  • ITunes Won't Open Because of Quicktime

I have a computer with Windows 7 Pro and I can't get iTunes to work correctly on it.  I was getting an error message that was saying that iTunes couldn't open because Quicktime wasn't installed.  However, quicktime is installed and working properly.  I've uninstalled everything related to apple and reinstalled it, and after doing that, iTunes worked, but today I started getting the same error message.  I'm not sure what the issue is because there doesn't seem to be an issue with Quicktime.

I'm going through the SAME ****. I install Itunes and quicktime seems to go ok until the end of the installation and then all **** breaks loose. Some error comes up saying that I can't install it. THEN It says the installation finished successfully. So I click finish and what happends now is that it specifies that I need to update my quicktime to open itunes... I dont care about Quicktime, i want itunes to work, anyone have a link to an older STANDALONE version of itunes? Where you don't need quicktime?

  • ITunes won't open because the library file is locked

The iTunes 4 Music Library file is locked, on a locked disc, or I do not have write permission, what do I do? It was working perfectly until I plugged in my iPod. I waited, the iPod did not appear. The computer then told me that I had improperly disconnected it, yet I didn't touch it. So at that point I did disconnect it. My computer froze, so I restarted it and now iTunes won't open. Help!

    Megan hello,
welcome to the Apple Discussions open the iTunes folder in your Music folder and select the iTunes 4 Music Library file... type cpmmand - D and this will duplicate the file... put the original file on the desktop and change the name of the duplicate to be the same as one you just moved ... double/click on this file after the name change... if all is okay you can trash the file on the desktop later..
let's know if it all works again Megan .... TP

  • Itunes won't open on my computer. I uninstalled it, turned off the computer, rebooted, and re-installed but when I click onto the "itunes" icon nothing happens. When I plug in my iphone or ipod nothing happens as well?? HELP PLEASE.

Itunes will not open. I click onto the icon and it does nothing. I've uninstalled it twice and still nothing. Rebooted and nothing. I plug my iphone as well as my ipod and still nothing happens. Help please.

I, too, am having a serious problem with my iTunes.
It shows that iTunes is taking up usage on my computer but there is no error message when I try to open it. Nothing even happens. iTunes does not come up and I am searching for a possible answer.
We recently had a power outage but we got power back Sunday and when we did iTunes stopped working. Before this incident iTunes usually worked and when it didn't a simple re-start was used to fix it. However now I have tried that several times and it is not working.

Something went wrong with iTunes on my MacBook, and though I´ve trashed and downloaded anew, it won´t open. It claims "iTunes is on a secured Volume or I have no access rights" (Finder Information shows I have the rights).
Copying from the iMac did´nt help!

  • ITunes won't open on my computer...

Running Windows 7. Have been using iTunes without issue for quite some time but it has decided to cease functioning for the past few days. It will open on OCCASION after initial startup of my computer but typically locks up and I'm forced to end process after it being open for 30 seconds or less. When I end the process, iTunes still shows up in my processes window, so I'm not sure it actually ever ends (which is probably why it will never reopen).
I have tried some fixes after googling around including updating quicktime and itunes to their most recent versions. It was also recommended that I disable bonjour and that just ended in an error message so I re-enabled it. None of these things have solved that problem. I'm wary about a clean uninstall and reinstall of itunes because the Apple support on this site says you shouldn't really do that unless advised to because it can wipe out your entire library. That being said I'm pretty desperate for help on this issue. I'm kind of surprised how prevalent the threads on "iTunes just won't run anymore" is in the forums and yet how I still can't seem to find a fix. By the way, I'm BRAND NEW to Windows. Been a Mac user since the early 90's so if you tell me to do something within my OS, you're probably going to have to guide me on how to get there within Windows. Thanks!

top fixes for a new iTunes install/upgrade are
    - turning off security software such as Norton before the install as Apple suggests
    - installing QuickTime standalone, not regular
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
    - setting up Norton to allow iTunes
    - scanning for malware with ewido (Free at www.ewido.net/en/)
    - last but not least, using MSCONFIG to find Windows conflicts

  • ITunes won't open, because it "needs QuickTime 7.0.3"--but I have it!

Same sob story, to a degree, that I've been reading about. BUT--when I click on the iTunes icon, it says it can't launch because QuickTime isn't up-to-date. That isn't accurate, because they download together! This is on a brand new computer, Dell Inspiron 6000. I have uninstalled the download and tried the CD that came with the Nano (an older version), and it installs but won't run, either. Just wants to send an error report to Microsoft each time I try to open iTunes.
I've tried a lot, including choosing iTunes not be the primary audio player. QuickTime doesn't successfully install when I tried a separate installation.
Running XP small business edition (just a souped-up version of Home edition). Computer also runs Microsoft Media Center...could this be part of the problem? I'm also running McAfee Security Suite.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get this going?
    Dell Inspiron 6000   Windows XP

Well, then we need to get rid of every Quicktime reference on your computer and start anew.
to Verify That All QUICKTIME Files Are Removed
    Go to: Start/Find/Files or Folders.
Enter QuickTime as one word in the Name box.
Click Find Now (be sure you are in the C drive of your computer).
Confirm that the following files are NOT on your computer. If they are still on your computer, delete them.
    QuickTimeInstaller.ini
    QuickTimeInstaller.exe
    QuickTimeInstallCache.qdat
    then reboot your computer
    OR
Close the program tray icon (lower right corner of taskbar) before trying to remove (or installing standalone)? ( or ctrl alt del and close these first: iTunesHelper.exe, qttask.exe)
    or:
Start - Run - copy and paste this into the run box:
    C:\WINDOWS\unvise32qt.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\QuickTime\Uninstall.log
(check to see if there is a file "uninstall.log" in the C:\WINDOWS\System32\QuickTime folder)
last resort (since you cant get rid of it anyway) -
    delete c:\program files\quicktime folder and c:\windows\system32\quicktime folder
run regedit - delete these keys:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Quic kTime
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime
Then, try downloading Quicktime Standalone and see if iTunes will open up after that. Good luck and keep me posted either way.
