ITunes won't open because Quicktime was not found!

This is the first time this error came up, when i open iTunes, an error comes up saying "QuickTime Unavaliable" and how i have to uninstall iTunes and install it again... Well i did that a million times and uninstall quicktime and installed quicktime over and over and over and over agaim and this error keeps popping up!!! I NEED HELP!!! This error has no number, it just says i need to uninstall tinues and reinstall it!

If you definitely have a working QuickTime but iTunes thinks that you7 do not, then this points to a particular type of error.
Do you have a computer that has been set up for a work network? You may find that iTunes works OK when the computer is connected to the network but doesn't at home when not connected.
There are other possibilities, but this is a common one.
If I have guessed right, the problem lies in the %path% environment variable. In order to look at its contents, could you do the following:
Type:
cmd
into your search box and click cmd under Programs.
The black cmd window will open.
Next copy&paste the following into the cmd window and press return:
echo %path% >documents\path.txt
This will place the contents of the %path% variable in a text file called Path in (My) Documents.
Could you copy&paste this text file into your next post so I can look at it.
(Use ctrl V to paste into the editor, right click doesn't work.)

  • Alias could not be opened because original was not found

I recently had to re-format my HD due to error with the face, all was running fine until today. I had backed up all my files to my external hard drive prior to the HD crash. Photos and Itunes. Problem is today my i photo library was gone as well as my itunes music. When i tried to restore the folder I could not open my files that are .jpg saved on my external drive. I did the shift+option key when starting I photo to recreate the folder, but I still can't open my files in the external drive. Obtained the error "Alias .jpg could not be opened because the original could not be found". Are these pictures now lost forever? I can see the .jpg on my external drive. I click on it and it ask me to fix, and choose , but everything is grayed out. Also now my computer doesn't recognize my ipod to sync since the itunes library has been changed or something. the folder was there , but non of my music. My music is available in the external drive, but It 's not the latest backup. Please someone help. I didn't move anything so I'm not sure what happened.

    Hi Ray,
Thank you for responding. I am really hoping I can get my photos at least back. Here is what I did. I thought I was being smart by backup up my folders which contained my photos and music to my external hard drive, however I must not understand how mac does this. I dragged and dropped both my itunes folder and iphotos folder to my external hard drive and checked to see if they were there. I though great all looked great. About a month later my mac got a error which indicated my hd crashed so I reformatted my drive and reloaded everything and then I recently noticed that my music and I photos folder were gone, empty. I'm not sure what happened.

Perhaps I got a virus or a hack stole all my music and photos. I don't know this is the wierdest thing. I guess what I need to know is are all my photos gone forever now?
I tried to import , not sure if I attempted correctly. Can you assist or walk me through?
I can see the .jpg on my external drive I just can't open them without getting the alias error.

  • HT1199 I updated Itunes on my PC and now when i try to open Itunes i get a error message saying "application failed to start because MSVCR80 was not found" then whenI close that pop up I get a error message saying "windows was not installed correctly Erro

I updated my itunes the other day and now it won't open I get error message saying "application failed to start because MSVCR80 was not found"  When I close that window I get message stating Itunes was not installed correctly Error 7 Windows error 126.  My PC is a Acer and I'm running Windows Visa.  I tried to uninstall Itunes and reinstall it and get same message.  Can anyone help.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • ITunes Won't Open Because of Quicktime

I have a computer with Windows 7 Pro and I can't get iTunes to work correctly on it.  I was getting an error message that was saying that iTunes couldn't open because Quicktime wasn't installed.  However, quicktime is installed and working properly.  I've uninstalled everything related to apple and reinstalled it, and after doing that, iTunes worked, but today I started getting the same error message.  I'm not sure what the issue is because there doesn't seem to be an issue with Quicktime.

I'm going through the SAME ****. I install Itunes and quicktime seems to go ok until the end of the installation and then all **** breaks loose. Some error comes up saying that I can't install it. THEN It says the installation finished successfully. So I click finish and what happends now is that it specifies that I need to update my quicktime to open itunes... I dont care about Quicktime, i want itunes to work, anyone have a link to an older STANDALONE version of itunes? Where you don't need quicktime?

Can you start QuickTime on your computer?
You'll probably have to search for the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and use it to remove QuickTime Player and iTunes. Then download and install the iTunes again.

  • Problems opening iTunes after installation - "QuickTime was not Found"

I am having trouble opening iTunes. Both iTunes and Quick time will download and install and I can open QuickTime without a problem, but when I open iTunes, I get the following error:
Open iTunes and an error opens:
"QuickTime was not found. QuickTime is required to run iTunse. Please uninstall iTunes and then install iTunes again."
I only have trouble when I am at home and not connected to my work network. I was able to start iTunes yesterday while in the office, but all my music is on my external hard drive at home. Not helpful!
I have tried about everything - uninstalled, reinstalled itunes and quick time, disabled bonjour, disabled the startup files, etc. I am still not having any luck.
    Any suggestions?

Both iTunes and Quick time will download and install and I can open QuickTime without a problem, but when I open iTunes, I get the following error:
    A bit unusual.
Did you do the QuickTime/iTunes install at work?
Is QuickTime still launching when you get the PC home?
(Wondering if something relating to the network at work have done odd things to QuickTime or iTunes registry entries ... possibly iTunes is looking for QuickTime on the wrong drive when you get the PC home, for example.)

  • Itunes won't "read" because it was created by a newer version of itunes

I just updated my operating system finally and when I try to open itunes I get : itunes won't "read" because it was created by a newer version of itunes.

This error prevents iTunes from launching. The library file was modified to work with the newer iTunes version, so it is no longer compatible with the previous version. The good news, however, is that Apple does backup the iTunes library file into a subdirectory that you can use to revert back to the previous version.
To recover a previous version of the iTunes Library.itl file, use the following steps:
Open up your My Documents\My Music folder.
We will first backup the current version. Rename iTunes Library.itl to something like iTunes Library.itl.bak.
Go into the My Documents\My Music\Previous iTunes Libraries folder.
You may see several files that start with iTunes Library and have a date included in the name. Copy the newest file in the folder.
Go back to the My Documents\My Music and paste the file from the previous step.
Rename the new copied file to iTunes Library.itl.
Your library should now be restored to the previous version of iTunes, and you should no longer receive the message.

I get the message "Install Adobe Flash" can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store. This is the first time I have gotten the message. What do I need to do?

    Hi Sandra,
you'll need to edit the security settings to install programs 'Mac App Store and identified developers'
Open the Systems Preference and go to Security & Privacy.  There will be a section in the 'General' tab for 'Allow apps downloaded from:"  The default selection is 'Mac App Store'.  Change this setting to 'Mac App Store and identified developers".
This screenshot is taken on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), so it may look slightly different if you're on a different OS X version.

Uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling should not affect your library. You should backup anyway.

  • "Quicktime was not found"

Help Itunes had been working great and all of the sudden it stopped working. Whenever I click the icon, it gives me the
'Quicktime was not found...Quicktime is required for Itunes, please re-install Itunes'.
I've tried uninstalling and installing (5 times)and it hasn't worked. Anyone have an idea of what I can do to remedy the situation?

It might be worth trying a complete removal of iTunes and Quicktime followed by a phased reinstall.
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and also the version of QUicktime that does not include iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Use the following method to remove iTunes and QUicktime etc:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    Restart your computer.
Install Quicktime and check to see it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.
