ITunes won't play iTunes movie
Hi, I purchased The Dark Knight through iTunes and when I copied the file and put it onto my MacBook Pro and authorized it. It wouldn't play, it would but the screen is dark but it is still playing the timer goes but there is no sound or picture does anyone know what is the problem with this?
Since the item you are having problems with was purchased from the iTunes Store, I would recommend going into the iTunes Store and logging into your account page (in the drop-down next to your email address).
From there, click "Purchase History"
Click "Report a Problem" and select the purchase which contains "The Dark Knight".
There, you will be able to report the problem you are having with your iTunes Store content directly to Apple and they will very likely add the iTune to your iTunes download queue again, free of charge.

My 10.6.8 macbook pro's DVD player won't play a movie from Netflix. The DVD does play on a 10.5 mb pro. So DVD is ok. Message says "not permitted" when I click play. Is there a compatibility issue? Or something else?

When the DVD is in the drive (and DVD players is open) click on File>get disk info.

Quicktime won't play my .mov files since I upgraded to Mavericks.
Quicktime won't play my .mov files, even those from an iPhone, since I installed Mavericks. "Tell Me More" doesn't tell me anything about a solution. Any suggestions?

Frankly, if you have deleted the original movie clips from your camera/camcorder and iPhoto, then it sounds as if you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle and there is nothing further that you can do.
Some facts:
For some reason, the movieclips are awful small (13-30 KB).
640 x 480
Codecs: H.264, AAC
While these facts are of little value without file duration information, as you yourself have already noted, the file sizes quoted are extremely small. A typical VGA H.264/AAC file of reasonable quality would normally have a combined total data rate in the 700 to 1,700 Kbps range depending on specific settings, profile, and level of the encoding software and could be even higher or lower depending on the quality levels required. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that files in the 13 to 30 KB range only contain 104 to 240 Kbs and either have durations measured in fractions of seconds or do not actually contain enough data to be played. (E.g., the video data may be missing or the file is corrupted.) Thus, it is most likely that something was wrong with the workflow used to "export" your files to the external drive and when you ignored the fact that the files were not playing correctly, you closed the door on anything that you could do when you deleted the source files. (I.e., the normal workflow here is to copy the entire iPhoto library to the external drive, switch libraries, confirm the new library is working properly and only then delete the boot drive copy of the iPhoto library.)
OBS: When I try to convert the files into something else (AVI, MP4 whatever) either it comes with an error, nothing happens or the converted file wont open. This happens with various convert-programs.
If the data in the files is missing, then there is nothing to be converted by any application. -
ITunes won't play rented movie - authorization error
Just rented a movie. Playing the movie gets the following error:
"This computer is not authorized to play 'download.m4v'.
If you purchased this song you can open your iTunes and authorize this computer to play this song by entering your Apple ID and password"
It gives the button "OPEN ITUNES".
The problem: itunes is already open and giving me this message!
So i click "open iTunes" and get the following:
"Waiting for iTunes to authorize this computer to play 'Download.m4v'
iTunes will prompt you for a password. You will not be able to play the song on this computer until you successfully authorize it using iTunes"
And nothing happens...
Latest versions of 10.5 and iTunes being used.
Note: iTunes is authorized since it plays my other purchased content (movies and songs)
Any ideas?

I frantically searched everywhere for an answer to this problem and finally found it. I don't know if you already got this fixed, but in order to have the movies play back correctly you need the most recent Quicktime update (version 7.4.1).

IPhone 4 won't play rented movie
Hi,
I recently rented a movie in itunes using my iphone 4. When I wanted to watch the movie (on my iphone as well), the iphone asks for wifi connection to play the movie file. I don't understand why since my iphone is already connected to my local wifi conneciton...???
I have also tried renting a movie via Itunes on my MBP and it works fine...
Can anyone please tell my why this happens?? Can I fix this 'iphone problem' somehow..??

JesperMe too, just got this for the second time, today with two movies on my 4s. First it says enable mobile data. I do that in store settings and then it says connect to wifi. Not really viable on the train and I can't check that the movie will play in advance because that could cause the rental to expire before I want to watch it.
Really annoying, I'd love to know a fix for this. If I was on an aeroplane for a long haul flight it would be even worse.
I know they have to have DRM but why does it have to be such a pain?
Rentals generally don't seem to be up to the usual apple usability standards. -
Just rented movie from iTunes to my iPad and, when trying to play to apple tv it state it's not authorized to play this movie. Network connection and all settings seem ok.has anyone got a fix.

Quicktime Player Pro won't play any movies?
Ever since I restored my computer about a month ago, my Quicktime Player won't play any video formats correctly. .avi files don't play anymore, and mp4 files only play sound with the screen black. Then when I try to close the application, I get the pinwheel for a long time, thus making me force quit every time. How can I fix this so it can play movies correctly?
(I'd also like to know how to get it to play .mka format movies as well)Courtney,
There are a lot of possible CODECS used with .AVI file, not all of which are available for the QuickTime player.

Keynote '08 won't play MPG movie
I'm preparing a presentation. Bought a video clip to include, which turned out to be in MPG format. It plays fine on my computer in QuickTime, but won't play within the presentation. When I insert it the icon of a sound file appears, but it doesn't even play sound. Is there a fix for this?

Quicktime won't play my movies, just plays audio
I have some movies downloaded that were .avi files when i got them, I used Divx Doctor to convert them to .mov files. Now, they play fine on my iBook G4, but on my new iMac all I can get is the audio. The movie info says the video is 3ivx 4.5.1 and I have the 3ivx codec installed on my iMac but it still won't play. In fact I have all the same codecs on the iMac that I have on my iBook. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try playing it on the iMac under Rosetta. Believe 3ivX v4.5.1 is for PPC Macs only.

Technical problem: PPro CS5.5 won't play DSLR MOVs

I am new to PPro CS5.5 (first day, actually) and I cannot play back .MOVs from my Canon 5D Mk2 (with audio). Every other file format that I tried worked, which is quite bad because I bought the Production Premium package just to work with DSLR footage.
It doesn't matter whether I create a sequence (still haven't figured what that is for) with/for the file or not, it doesn't matter what project settings I have. After I start the application I can play (or scrub) DSLR files for ten seconds max before the output starts to jump erratically within the clip (the playhead doesn't) and then turns green (RGB: 0x008600), sometimes interjected with images from other clips that have been played before, sometimes even garbage. There is no recovering from this. All other file formats continue to work fine. "Project New" or exiting the application then may take up to a minute while the program remains unresponsive and looks like it has crashed. It is totally unusable (the competition and every other software works fine with the files).
I have a Win7 64Bit 3.4GHz Sandybridge system with 16GB RAM. The harddisks are large, fast and quick enough to handle DSLR video. There are no other applications running in the background (really nothing as the computer is of course not connected to the internet) and there's lots of memory and harddisk space available.
What can I do or what did I do wrong? Thanks in advance.

Apple tv won't play purchased movies. Message itunes unavailable
Getting very frustrated. We have a large library of movies and music which we are unable to watch. We have a good wifi connection, latest software versions, have turned every on and off etc etc but keep getting the same message. "I tunes is currently unavailable. Try again later". We have been trying for days!!

This is happening to loads of people including myself. Haven't been able to access content since last week. My ID won't work, but my husband's will. Tried logging out/in, rebooting ATV, rebooting router - everything - to no avail. From what I'm reading, this problem lies with Apple and everyone is waiting anxiously for them to fix it. As it's Thanksgiving week in the US, I don't know how soon they will fix it. All I know is I'm not spending any more money on Itunes until fixed. -
Apple TV won't play my movies from iTunes
I just purchased my Apple TV and I can't movies I bought on iTunes. I can see my purchased tv shows but the only movies available are rentals. Any ideas on how I can find my purchased movies?

You can't redownload movies as you can TV shows, you'll need to play them via your iTunes library on your computer using homesharing. -
ITunes 11.1 on OS X 10.8.5 won't play a movie while downloading
It seems this is a new 'feature' of iTune 11.1 In previous versions, I could begin playing a moving almost instantly after d/l began. Now if I try to play iTunes "stops responding" according to Force Quit and beach balls the app till I quit. Nice Apple.
Test after each of the following steps that you haven’t already tried:
Step 1
Take all the steps suggested in this support article. That's the starting point for any further effort to solve the problem. Skipping any of those steps may mean that the problem won't be solved. Note that, as stated in the article, the computerwill not sleep if Internet Sharing is enabled.
Step 2
From the menu bar, select
▹ System Preferences ▹ Accessibility ▹ Speakable Items: Off
Step 3
Select
▹ System Preferences ▹ Bluetooth ▹ Advanced...
and uncheck both boxes marked
Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup if...
Step 4
Reset the SMC.
Step 5
Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal. Don’t launch any applications at first. If sleep still doesn’t work properly, back up all data and reinstall the OS. After that, if you still have the issue, make a “Genius” appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
If sleep now works as expected, go on to the next step.
Step 6
Still in safe mode, launch the usual set of applications that are running when you have the problem, including your login items, one at a time, testing after each one. Some applications may not work; skip them. You might be able to identify the cause of the problem this way.
Step 7
If sleep is still working after you’ve launched all the usual applications, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test again. If sleep still works, you’re done, at least for the moment.
If you still have the sleep issue after booting out of safe mode, post again. -
Itunes won't play rented movie on pc
Running latest iTunes for Win (v10.6.1.7). OS: Win7 HmPrem 64b. Norton 360 v6. Trying to watch movie that was rented from iTunes store but iTunes closes with error message that program has stopped working...consult Windows. Ran iTunes diag's and fails on secured link to Apple store. Don't get it...F/W settings are all set to allow iTunes. Can access store and other store purchased content.
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

stupid ipod wont sync some of my tv shows. they worked before i updated it then i erased everything on it tried restoring it to factory setting that didn't work. some of them say that it isn't compatable and they were downloaded on it before. does anybody have an answer to what the problem could be?
no not really the means it cant find the song so since there scattered you would need to find each one of those individually and if that doesn't fix it ur lookin at removing and reinstalling
