ITunes won't re-install

Hello,
I have windows 2000 Professional on my computer. Two weeks ago iTunes gave me problems and crashed everytime I opened it. I disinstalled it but windows application didn't work, so I had to do it manually (i.e. deleting keys with regedit...). I've absolutely deleted all (exept music albums) but wen I try to reinstall it (iTunes 6 for Win) it doesn't work. It gives me a windows with (sorry it is in Italian language, I try to translate it into english...):
"Errore nell'applicazione dei trasformatori. Verificare che i percorsi specificati siano validi:
C:\WINNT\Installer\{501BADCD-F8F7-44CB-AC3F-6ED25C1A28B5}\1040.MST"
"Error in application of transformer. Verify specified paths to be valid: C:\WINNT\Installer\{501BADCD-F8F7-44CB-AC3F-6ED25C1A28B5}\1040.MST"
I've tried everything!
Thanks in advance

No, it's these user forums.
Any program that has been working great, then suddenly misbehaves, is a symptom of either
-malware
-program file corruption that should be repaired
If you use IM a lot, try an ewido malware scan. Maybe Sophos isn't cacthing some things. Norton & McAfee also don't cacth some of this Qoologic-type malware that affects iTunes.

My itunes won't complete the install process? please help

I tried turning off my anti-virus to no avail. I really have no idea what are they are talking about with "Tools-Downloads" The only place you can do anything is under Help-Check for Updates, and I assumed that was the same thing.
I also tried to email Apple but they need the serial number of my Itunes. How do you find that? I didn't even know Itunes had a serial number.

  • ITunes won't open, install or uninstall

When I try running iTunes, i get the message:
iTunes could not be installed because Visual Basic Script (Basic) is not installed or has been disabled. Make sure Basic is installed, turn off script blocking in anti-virus and personal firewall software, re-register Basic, and then install ITunes.
I have installed Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 express edition and still nothing has happened. The same happens when I try to install or uninstall it so I can't acsess my music. Help!

I don't think iTunes 7.6 needs Visual Basic script, but presumably the uninstall of the old version does.
    You could try re-registering vbscript.dll:
    Start
    All Programs
    Accessories
Right click on Command Prompt and run as administrator, Enter
    In the command prompt, type the following;
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll

  • Itunes won't fully install or unistall, "REQUIRED FILES MISSING" error

I tried to download the latest itunes and now it won't open at all. Every time I try and open itunes an error message appears "itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Reinstall itunes" I have reinstalling and the set up freezes on "registering Itunes automation server" the the error message comes up again. Also when trying to uninstall itunes it freezes on "unregistering Itunes automation server"
I have no idea what to do and I can’t even remove the program from my computer
    Please help

I'm having the same issue, however the following must be noted, I successfully did the update on my Acer 5100 Laptop running Windows XP SP2. The only difference between my Acer and the Desktop (where itunes 7.5 will not install) is that the laptop is a newer techonolgy.
Afraid this has to be taken into consideration. If your sporting an older pc then you like myself are running the risk of NOT being able to support future upgrades, and APPLE, MICROSOFT know this but won't really send you a newsletter telling you to upgrade your PC
You will figure it out on your own after stressing yourself out!
Sad but true reality to face my fellow PC users.

  • ITunes won't re-install in the correct drive

We recently "cleansed" our computer, and in the process ended up deleting most of the music library. We then tried to re-install iTunes into a new hardrive with a lot more space, which appeared to be successful. However, when importing songs back into the re-installed iTunes, a message came up that said that the original drive was too full. We have re-checked My Computer, and iTunes is listed to be under the new drive, but when importing, continually says it is connected to the old one. Any help? Answers are greatly appreciated- the new drive was bought in part for the large music library, so getting it to be installed in the correct place would be great.
    Thanks!

Manual makes it a usb drive and to eject a usb drive you have to close any program that's using it, in this case iTunes.
When that's done use Safely Remove hardware.
If it's still being used by something then shut down the computer, when it's off disconnect the iPod and leave it disconnected until the steps are finished.
You can always re-install iTunes if necessary but you shouldn't have had the iPod connected until you were done.
In fact I'd just bite the bullet, cancel out of what you're doing, and do a full uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and then follow instructions for moving the music library folder to the other drive as if you were doing it for the first time : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364?viewlocale=en_US
With that done download a free song and if that works just transfer your music back to iTunes from the iPod, since it's in manual you can treat the whole thing as a usb drive without having to worry about losing music.
You may need to re-do your play lists but that should be the worst.

  • Itunes won't re-install correctly

When we got the notification to update itunes a while ago, the update was aborted before it could finish (long story).  Ever since then I get the error code that tells me I need to re-install itunes.  So, I un-installed it and re-installed it and it still tells me I need to re-install. I've seen other threads where alot of users seem to be having the same problem but I still don't know how to fix it.  Since I've un-installed and re-installed, I don't know what else to do.  I don't want to spend the rest of my days doing that like some weird version of Groundhog Day.  Please help!

Yes, run means run the install over the interenet, not good if some kind of glitch happens.
Try the Save. Put it on your PC where you can find it. When the download finished, double-click on the file to launch it.

  • Itunes won't finish install

I updated itunes but unless I restart my computer with my ipod plugged in itunes tells me I have to restart the computer for updates to take effect. I have done this so many times I have lost count. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but it still won't work. I'm so aggravated I'm thinking about not getting a new ipod since I need to upgrade mine. It's one of the original video ipods to come out. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

that is almost invariably caused by your SpyCatcher:
iTunes 7 or later for Windows Installation stops responding while "registering modules"
(it's best to launch itunes at least once prior to reinstalling SpyCatcher.)

  • New iTunes won't finish installing

I just tried to update to the new iTunes and right when it is about to finish the install this message comes up..
"The Installer could not validate the contents of the ‘iTunesX’ package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
Anyone know how to fix this issue?  I read a few things saying I should go into my HD & to Receipts and delete the iTunesX package and update again but this did not work.

Do you remeber the exact (or close to it) wording of the error message?
Try manually placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then try to restore
    Next try DFU mode.

  • HT1926 ITunes won't finish installing.

I get the following message during the installation process:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
The installer then says that nothing was installed and to run it again. Bought an Ipod but it would be a paperweight if I can't install Itunes.

Update: The problem seems to be when the installer attempts to install "Apple Software Update." I run CCleaner afterward and the programs showup there. I get the same message when I uninstall The ASU application.

  • PLEASE help....itunes won't properly install.........

Everytime I download itunes, it downloads and then says "Items cannot be found. Required fields are missing Reinstall itunes." I reinstall itunes and I get the same thing over and over! Please help, as I just got the iphone and I can't do anything with it.
    Thanks
      Windows XP

I was having the exact problem. I also tried to reinstall the software and it still didn't work. So I went to the control panel, clicked ADD/Remove. Then the list of items came up, I clicked on change or remove on the left column scrolled down to itunes, clicked change and remove and it brought up a lot of information and one of the options was to update itunes. I clicked on UPDATE and afterwards restarted my computer. When I opened itunes after that, I had no problems. I hope that helps. It also had a number you could call for support.

  • Ask your question.stalled 10.5 and update on my G4 PB and now Itunes won't open due to library created by nwer version, How do I get the old version back ? thankfully I don't have anything in it, having deleted everything for room for the new install.

I just installed 10.5 and .8 update, from 10.4xx, Original 10.5 Archived and installed,   Now itunes won't, can't open due to "library created by a newer version error message,
How do I fix this ? uninstall ??? reinstall ?
I originally didn't have enough free space to intall the new OS so deleted everything/songs and some podcasts in itunes, backed up on another ipod.that hasn'r been updated so not missing anything, but now can't access\ another new(old) ipod and iphone (and not anytthing now) that wouldn't work on the old OS. due to not having the required itunes upgrade and not upgradeable on 10.4xx
    Thanks in advance.

After reinstalling itunes like PowerBloodRespect said, go into itunes on your account and connect your ipod. On the ipod summary tab, uncheck the box to launch itunes when the ipod is connected.
You also might want to go into itunes preferences on both accounts.
On the Device tab, put a checkmark in the box to prevent ipods from syncing automatically.
