Itunes won't recognize any of my music folders! Help!?

When I go to "File -> Add Folder To Library" And I go to my music folder, it only shows the "iTunes" folder and none of my other folders what so ever.
This is ******* me off. Can anyone help?
In the past, I've been able to go to files, add folder to library, select one or multiple files/folders and it would add all the music/cover art/whatever to my library.
Now, it won't even recognize any other folders on my computer that aren't all about itunes or my ipod.
HELP ME.

I recently bought a new ipod nano and when i got it home and connected it to my computer I was told my version of i-tunes was not compatable and I had to un-install it and then download it again. After I did this 4 times i eventually managed to get itunes to open on my computer and recognise my new ipod. However after all that hassle my version of itunes now wont recognise any of the music that has already been downloaded onto my computers music files. I have tried copying the music across and also using the add music to the itunes library command and nothing seems to work! I really like the ipod but if i had known that itunes was this difficult to work i would have picked a different type of music player! since i have bought the ipod ive heard nothing but bad things about how difficult and complicated itunes is to work so if anyone has any ideas for how i can fix this problem thatd be great! ITunes won't play ANY of my music!

When I select a song and press the spacebar or click the song or whatever, iTunes won't PLAY IT. The timer comes up like it's gonna play but it never starts counting. The icon to select pause comes up instead of the icon to select play in the top left corner. EVERYTHING about iTunes is working correctly up until the second that you expect the sound to come out. You know the little speaker icon next to the song? You know how it shows little lines that represent sound coming out of it when it begins playing a song? Even THAT works. It's just that the little time keeper across the top doesn't scroll across the song! My speakers work fine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it. I've restarted the computer and shut it down! I checked the preferences menu. I can burn CDs still. Like I said, everything in iTunes is working fine except for the fact that the songs don't play. The files are still there. HELP! THis is driving me nuts. It wasn't working in 10.4.6 and it's still not working in 10.4.7. I've done every update...NOTHING!

I am having the exact same problem. I have updated both the system and iTunes. I have an mBox whose driver I have reinstalled (although I knew that wouldn't really make a difference to iTunes NOT playing).
I'm stumped.
Zapped PRAM.
Repaired permissions - they didn't need it.

Itunes won't sync any of my music to my Ipod Nano (4th gen)

I tried to add more music onto my ipod and itunes froze and it didn't work. After it unfroze I tried to sync it again, nothing happened. I thought maybe if I reset my ipod it would help. NOPE! Now I have no music on my ipod and even if I click on the sync button nothing happens. Itunes recognizes that I have my ipod plugged in but it won't do anything else. I even tried uninstalling itunes and then re-installing it but nothing happened after that.

Itunes won't recognize or play dowloaded music

I recently downloaded Itunes 7. I also recently changed my email address (and hence, apple ID) and the new Itunes will only play the 5 or so songs that I purchased with the new email ID. When I try to play the older songs, Itunes asks me to authorize. After I type in my password and authorize successfully, the song still does not play. I have tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing my whole computer but it does not work. I purchased all songs under the same account, but the old Apple ID always comes up when I try to play the songs I purchased in the past.
It is a small problem but annoying.

hi - I can't log into my old ID because the email account does not exist (why I changed my apple ID to begin with). I sent an email to Apple and they responded with basically the same advice - asking for my old ID information. I have only one ACCOUNT but two (old and new) ID's that I have purchased music under. However, when Itunes asks me to authorize my music, it will not play the songs after I have authorized them using both IDs (ie changing back to the old id name does nothing). Some of the songs that won't play were bought using both ID names - in other words, I can only play what was bought really recently, not just what was bought with the new ID.
also - the songs that will not play do not appear under my "purchase history" for my account.
Sorry if this does not make sense. I would really like to be able to play the 100+ songs that I have purchased in the past and can no longer access!

ITunes won't recognize all of my music, what to do?

when i download itunes and have it search my computer it will only show 667 songs. I have over 1500 in my library. So what is going on? I've tried to manually add each folder/file to the file but it never shows, even after a restart.

Is the music in question selected to sync?

ITunes won't recognize any of my devices after latest update.

This is pretty rediculous, none of my devices (iPad and iPod) will show up when connected to iTunes since the last update. They show up fine on my computer, why must I try to figure this out because Apple can't test their stuff before releasing it. I guess once they have our money who cares, they'll just release the newer model next year and everyone will buy it. I've tried for hours and I can't get them to show up.

My Ipod Nano won't show any of my music. HELP!

But the music shows up on itunes. My ipod was completley out of charge then when I plugged it in I noticed it. I can't sync it again because I have music that isn't on the Itunes and cannot be relplaced. Help!

I had the problem on a new Nano just purchased
yesterday.
I opened itunes and clicked on "Help" then " run
diagnostics" then on "ipod diagnostics" and
"next".
Under "ipod connection status" I clicked " help"
and
followed the instructions for " Restart the Ipod
service"
I needed to install a driver. And it worked. Now
the
ipod show in windows and in itunes.

i updated my itunes, and now it won't play any of my music. i tried deleting it and reinstalling itunes, but it still is doing the same thing: whenever i click on a song, it looks like it's going to play (and my last.fm thing starts scrobbling it) but it just doesn't play the song, ever. it sits there, with the play button played. i am so frustrated with itunes, and i have no idea how to resolve this.

i'm problem with iTunes. It won't snyc any of the music to my iPhone 6. I tried to connect the phone to an i Mac, all sync but music. Before I press the sync button (of course I selected sync all music), it showed in the status bar including the storage used by music. BUT when I click sync, and it went quickly to step 5 and finish sync, no music storage shown anymore and no music found in my phone.
Later I tried on another computer(deauthorised the Mac first). No working either... (Sync apps but not music)
Is this an technique problem of iTunes or is my iPhone 6 a faulty product? PLEASE HELP!

Well, I hadn't rebooted after the 7.1.1 upgrade, but obviously I had to restart iTunes. After I rebooted my iBook iTunes worked... Maybe the 7.1.1 update should be marked with a must reboot?

I bought my husband a 30 gig ipod for Christmas and gave it to him early. Last night I bought and installed a video converter so that he could watch movies on the ipod. This morning when he updated the device with a new video and tried to play it, the screen turned green with little black squares. Itunes does not recognize that the ipod is connected to the computer and I can't turn the ipod off. Is there any way to restore the ipod if Itunes won't recognize it?

Try this, hold the middle button and the menu button for 10 seconds while it is plugged into the computer. See if it will come back to life. You may have to try this several times. Give it a try.
