ITunes won't recognize my iPod. I have the Apple Mobile Device USB driver installed in my programs but it doesn't show up in my Device Manager or Services. Can someone help?

So I connected my iPod to iTunes and an error message came up saying it needed an updated version of iTunes 64 bit and I was missing the Apple Mobile Device USB driver so I downloaded it because another discussion said that was the solution. I did but it wont show up in my device manager or services. Can someone help me figure out whats wrong?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • ITunes won't recognize my iPod all of the sudden

I've got a 40GB iPod that I purchased about 2 years ago. It's about 1/2 full. For some reason iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod when I plug it into the dock. In the past "Jeff's iPod" would show up in the left hand column, I would copy music from CD to the iPod, then update. I can add music to iTunes, charge my iPod in the dock, but iTunes doesn't find my iPod so I can't update it. I've tried to reset the iPod and this doesn't work. I'd rather not start over by restoring the iPod, and I'm not even sure doing that would recognize my iPod. Should I reinstall iTunes? Would this erase all the songs on my iPod when I go to update it? I'm confused, this happened totally out of the blue for no apparent reason.

  • I deleted some Apple software, now iTunes won't recognize my iPod

So earlier today I removed Bonjour, and the Apple Mobile Device from my computer. Now all of a sudden iTunes won't recognize my iPod, but windows does. Could this issue be related to removing the software from my computer?

Take a look at this web page and see if it helps:

  • TS1410 itunes won't recognize my ipod ma446ll

For the longest time now, non of my Apple Computers recognize my iPod. It's very annoying since (even though old)  my iPod is working in near to perfect conditions. There are no solutions from Apple, and I've search the web non-stop to find some enlightment and found nothing. I hope to find some from you guys. I've already tried all this:
    1. Check the USB cable
    2. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    3. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    4. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    5. Check for third-party mobile phone software
    6. Troubleshoot third-party security software
    Hmm yeah, non work.
What do I do, I don't want to throw it out...It Works!
    Help!!

What appears on the iPod's screen when you have it connected to any of your Macs?  Have you tried a hard reset of the device with it still connected to a high powered USB 2.0 port?  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Are you running the latest version of iTunes and have all of the latest Mac OS X updates applied to your system?  Did this iPod ever work on any of these Macs?

  • My Itunes won't recognize my Ipod nano 6th, did the troubleshooting

    Hey,
So I have an Iphone 4s and I had the same problem with it and solved it by the "verify that the apple mobile device usb driver is installed". It wasn't installed and I installed it by the steps and now it works.
Tried to do the same to my Ipod nano 6th, and when I'm trying to install the driver (as I did with the Iphone, and as it says in the troubleshooting) I get the next message: "the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows for 64x-based systems".
I did tried all the other steps as well and nothing worked. I guess the problem is with the driver (as I had the same problem exactly with my Iphone), but it doesn't say in the troubleshooting what to do with this error message.
    Thanks for your help.
