  • Itunes won't respond to double clicking on a song once another song is play

hi. i open itunes, double click on a track and then if i want to play another track i double click on it but itunes won't respond and just keeps playing the original track. if i click on the track, it will highlight but won't play when double clicked. it will however play if i highlight with a single click and hit return. why is this happening. it never used to happen and doesn't on my other computer.

QuickTime X wouldn't have given the error message if it could have opened the file.
There are many file formats and codecs it can't view.

  • ITunes won't respond

I got a new hard drive and downloaded my DVD music backup from the old drive. Went fine for the 1st DVD ( backup on 2 DVD's) Later on when I went to download the 2nd I find iTunes won't open now. When I go to force quit it says iTunes not responding. I have repaired permissions and tried restarting and still won't open. any ideas? I just get the rainbow ball until I force quit it.

Try this....Make sure iTunes IS NOT open. Go into your user folder/Library/Preferences/ and move "com.apple.iTunes.plist" to the trash. Then start iTunes.

dont know   Windows XP   dont know

Hello. I pretty much gave up all hope and wasnt going to try to fix it anymore, and I was glad I had most of my good songs on my ipod already..
but i randomly came to the forums and looked at one person's post, where someone suggested that they install the standalone quicktime.. I knew my problem had something to do with quicktime so, since it wouldn't uninstall, I manually deleted all the quicktime folders and files, execpt one file which refused to delete so I just moved it, then I installed that standalone quicktime installer, and it was successful, and followed up with Itunes installation, and it was smooth sailing from there.. so far.. well I hope that it will stay working.
sorry to say but I won't be touching any more updates.. dont wanna go through this again
    thank you

I plugged my ipod into itunes, for no apparent reason all my music was then deleted off my ipod, and now it wont respond when i plug it back in so i can't sync it, the screen goes grey with the apple sign.

You are not alone, exactly the same happened here to our ipod classic and we really need to know why this is and what to do. Is it an itunes update glitch? Is it the harddrive?

  • Itunes won't open please help!!!!!!

Please help me I installed my itunes and quicktime, but the itunes wont open. I tried redownloading itunes and I even tried to install an older version of quicktime. It opened than but wouldn't work said that I needed to have the updated version. So I reinstalled the updated versions. And again it just gives me the hour glass symbol than nothing. I do not have norton and no other programs will interfer with it. Can someone please help me?

    Hey jimmymohawk,
What is the exact error message? Is it saying that Quicktime needs to updated?
This article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976 should help you get iTunes installed sucessfully. Quicktime will have to be uninstalled, you may have to use the part of the article "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer," then iTunes can be repaired or reinstalled.

  • ITunes won't work, please help

Hello Apple Discussions. I've been having trouble with my iTunes account. Every time I try to open the program it tells me that an error has occurred and has to close. I've been reading through what other people have tried to get around this problem, and this is what I've tried so far. I tried checking the disk, nothing. I tried opening the Quick Time player and I'm getting the same message that a problem has occurred and has to close. What do I do? Please help. Thank you for your time.

    Thanks, scotty!
    ModName:ntdll.dll
The Quick Time player is a BEX error.
I'm afraid that malware is the worry with that ntdll.dll/BEX combination, scotty. (Often people who get it also can't get their Adobe Reader to launch either, although that symptom isn't universal.)
I'm not sure which particular beast (or beasts) is the culprit at this stage, but the free version of Malwarebytes has been doing a good job of fixing it for a lot of people.
Download and install Malwarebytes from the following page. Update the Malwarebytes definitions prior to running a scan with Malwarebytes:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
If the Malwarebytes scans pick up infections could you let us know what they are called, please?
If you remove the infections, can you get your iTunes and QuickTime launching again?

  • My new installation of iTunes won't open, please help me!

I have tried installing the newest iTunes and uninstalling as it will not open at all. I keep getting the generic Windows message that iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I tried uninstalling Quicktime and using the Apple quick fixes for iTunes version 7.0 not working but nothing helps. Anyone?

+I keep getting the generic Windows message that iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.+
let's first check to see if this is associated with a problem with your QuickTime. (iTunes needs a properly functioning QuickTime in order to work correctly.)
try launching your QuickTime. does it:
    (a) launch perfectly fine?
    (b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
    (c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)

  • Itunes won't respond with windows 7

Everytime I plug in either my ipad or iphone itunes locks up and I have to go into task manager to end task.  How do I solve this problem.

It doesn't do anything, and QuickTime doesn't do anything either.
many thanks. In recent times, the error-message-free launch failures of both iTunes and QuickTime have often been indicating that some application (other than QuickTime itself) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Itunes won't load--please help!

I'm having problems getting iTunes to open up at all for me. Yesterday, I was downloading a season of a TV show and in the middle, I started getting a message that I didn't have enough local memory to complete the download. It suggested I delete files in my trash and try again. I did that and iTunes seemed weird, so I shut the computer down and started it up again. After that time, I could not get iTunes to open.
I've tried downloading the newest version (which is already loaded on my imac) again and re-installing, but in the middle of the installation, I get a gray screen that tells me I need to shut my computer down. I've tried installing older versions of iTunes, the same thing happens.
I tried plugging my iPod in to see if that would open iTunes but no.
I tried writing to Apple, got the runaround to call technical support. Called them, they wanted $45 to fix the problem, even though I've spent much more than that in the iTunes store and cannot access my files any longer. My AppleCare expired 3 months ago.
I've Googled and searched here and thus far, I haven't seen any responses that have fixed my problem.
Oh, I looked at the log file and this is what it says:

ANY help is needed, I hate to spend the $$ if I can fix it myself.
    Thank you.

The whole system ended up getting wonky. Couldn't keep the computer up long enough to log in. Called Apple and got nowhere without forking over $$. Decided to sleep on it.
Today, used the installation disk, started up by holding down C key, did archive/install. Managed to save almost all of my data. Software update, and voila. iTunes will now open! Almost the whole library came back. I still have the library in the folders, but the TV shows and movies didn't migrate back to iTunes for some reason.
