ITunes won't run after being installed

I have just bought an ipod nano. Have installed iTunes from Apple.com
When attempting to open iTunes after installation has completed, I am prompted with this error message:
"iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close"
iTunes hasn't even opened before this message pops up. Have tried re-installing iTunes.
Any ideas? Really wanna get using my new nano!

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Select QuickTime and click Remove
Select iTunes and click Repair
Restart the PC
Try to launch iTunes

You appear to be able to backup your contacts without iTunes.  Google "backup iphone contacts without itunes".
The way to avoid having to get a tech person in is to get past the idea that your problem (which you still haven't defined) is "beyond my ability to fix".  ;-)

  • Itunes won't run after upgrade

I upgraded to the latest iTunes (10.6), but when I click on the icon I get an error message that says it can't open my iTunes library because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. How is that even possible if I just upgraded?
Now I can't get it to open at all, even after uninstalling/installing and restarting several times.
    Please help!

When I install the latest iTunes it will not run the application even though the process is running.
I'm more familiar with trying to fix this sort of thing on XP, rather than 7 (or even Vista), but there's a few basic things we should check on.
Reboot the PC (to kill your running iTunes.exe process as naturally as possible). Now head into your firewall, and check the rules. Is iTunes being allowed full access to the Internet? If not amend the rule. If it is, try deleting the existing rule and creating a new one (allowing full access to the internet) for iTunes.
Having done that, reboot the PC and try launching iTunes again. Any better luck this time?

I downloaded iTunes to Windows XP successfully, but it won't run when I attempt to open it. Nothing happens. My iPod should arrive in a week and I want to have iTunes prepared to transfer songs ASAP!
Why won't iTunes open after I've successfully downloaded it??!!

...ok, I downloaded iTunes 6.0 and it worked fine until my iPod cam and it said I needed version 7.0 or higher to transfer songs[thanks a lot apple].

I'm using Blackberry Tour 9630, v4.7.1.40, on Verizon  service in the US.
I downloaded Blackberry App World 1.1.0.20, using the Application Center Menu.  After I installed App World, it prompted me to reboot my phone.  Now the App Center Menu show that App World is installed, but when I try to open it I only get the App World screen with the Reinstall button.  I have gone through the reinstall a couple of times but that doesn't help.  An ideas how I can get App World to actually run??????????????????

where have you been gettting this reinstall button? on the main screen? in the application center?
try installing it from the blackberry website (if you were previously using the application center)

  • ITunes won't run after upgrade in W764bit

I have an HP Pavilion desktop with E5200 cpu and 5G Ram. I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium from Vista. I did not deauthorize my computer in iTunes before uninstalling it prior to the Windows upgrade. When I install the latest iTunes it will not run the application even though the process is running. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times with no results. My account is the Administrator account on the computer.
Any suggestions or anyone else experiencing the same problem?

I downloaded the iTunes exe and tried to run it but it gives me Visual C++ buffer error. I have also tried to uninstall quicktime and install it again but it gives me a fatal error during the uninstallation process from "Add/Remove programs" option. It also gives me 0000b7a4 Offset Error when i try to run the iTunes. I have just bought a 5th Generation Video iPod and want to use iTunes to upload some songs on the iPod. What should I do? I have done all the things possible to run iTunes and uninstall quicktime but it doesnt seem to work. Please help!

  • QT and Itunes won't run after re-installs?

I followed advice from here and re-installed QT. When I try to open QT, the QT window pops up for about a second and then closes (it says "switching" before closing). Itunes doesn't do anything. I have re-installed itunes 3 times (from disk and download site). I get a runtime script error when I try to re-install.
I have been using itunes problem free for 2 months. Downloaded a video from music store successfully today, later closed itunes, and it hasn't started since.
    I restored my pc also...nothing.
    Any advice from here????? Please!

Thanks B. I have found my problem and have a temporary solution, but will share here in case this hits others (or in the hope you or someone has a total way out!)
This is self-inflicted. I picked up a program which essentially hijacked QT. Everyone who has done a thousand unsuccessful re-installs of QT, etc. should check for this.
The files I identifed in my start-up folder (hidden but ms anti-spyware lised them in application agents) are gigo.exe and rkpryp.exe. I have, through crazy juggling of re-installs, event blocking using ms anti-spyware, and re-booting with my aircard disconnected, managed to get QT running, although it is slow to start up so other operations are still trying to mess with it.
I have tried a number of programs to clean this problem completely, but none have been effective. Best I can do is with the start-up block. Good news is that qt and itunes operate normally at this point and I lost no media files.
OK, so lesson learned for me, but it may be worth someones times to check this out if you are having similar symptoms. Saw a similar post here today and wanted to add that during this problem I also got the error codes -3 and the other 4 digits error code noted in there. Happened different times and circumstances. Just FYI to others on that.
Also, who is familiar with this hijack program and fix? Anyone please???????

  • OS X won't boot after being installed on an encrypted partition

    Hello!
Today i formatted my entire disk, but made it Journaled, Encrypted. It installed (actually "downloaded aditional files"), and then booted with a cross/do not proceed sign. I booted from the install disk again, got an error telling me to reinstall OS X. I was never asked for my password, and when i started disk utility, the disk was locked.
Why is the option there if it doesn't work?
    Andrei

    Thanks for this info:

There may be many reasons why it didn't work but without knowing exactly what you did it's pretty difficult to make any presumptions.
Others use it, and there have not been too many posts about using encrypted disks and FileVault 2. But searching the forums may help you.
One thing I'd consider trying if you were willing to take the time and trouble:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Step 1 can be changed to whatever method you are using to boot into the Lion installer or a Recovery HD volume.
But as ai said, i don't need it. I'm aleadry installing it normally.
So no need to help. I'm just curious why the Encrypted option isn't working.
    Thia is what i did:
Booted from the disk, selected my HDD, clicked erase and selected "HFS+ extended (Journaled, Encrypted)"
    It installed
After rebooting, it didn't ask me for the password i set for encryption.
Booted with the Cross (X) instead of the logo.
And that's it... I've seen that if you turn on filevault, it'll ask you for a password when booting. But for me it didn't.
RIght now it's working (i used the :HFS+ Extended (journaled)" without encryption.
And i want to know if it's my fault, or Apple's.

  • Help!  iTunes won't run after 7.3.1 installation

This is a first for me... I've never had a problem with iTunes.
I did the upgrade/ update and now I can't open iTunes.
I get the following message: "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration.
I tried to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it... no dice.
Anyone got a way around this one?
    Thanks!
    Scott Dakers

    Hi Scott,
Since iTunes uses QuickTime to play audio/video content in iTunes, that error message most likely indicates that there's a problem with your Quicktime installation.
See this knowledge base article for troubleshooting info about this issue:

  • Word '08 won't run after Mavericks install

I Upgraded my iMac Intel to Mavericks and now my "08 version of MS Word will not work at all.  Excell is fine.
Besides purchasing the newer version of Office, what can I do, please?

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

  • Activity Monitor won't run after leopard install

The only problem i'm having is that when i try and load Activity Monitor it bounces once and crashes. No amount of relaunches and reset/relaunches fixes the problem.
Any ideas? I've also tried launching the old tiger version of Activity Monitor that is on one of my SuperDuper backup external drives, but no luck.
    Thanks,
    Conrad

I apologize for the poor formatting. I did a filter for Activity and found these references to the crash. It looks like i'm missing a framework required for displaying the graphs that activity monitor uses. Any advice on how to go about replacing that?
    Thanks
