If you have to uninstall and reinstall, you may also need to run the Windows Uninstaller Cleanup Utility. You can find that here:

You appear to be able to backup your contacts without iTunes. Google "backup iphone contacts without itunes".

ITunes won't run after downloading the exe
I downloaded the iTunes exe and tried to run it but it gives me Visual C++ buffer error. I have also tried to uninstall quicktime and install it again but it gives me a fatal error during the uninstallation process from "Add/Remove programs" option. It also gives me 0000b7a4 Offset Error when i try to run the iTunes. I have just bought a 5th Generation Video iPod and want to use iTunes to upload some songs on the iPod. What should I do? I have done all the things possible to run iTunes and uninstall quicktime but it doesnt seem to work. Please help!

iTunes won't open after downloading software update. Macbook Pro OSX10.6.8 Simple solution? And by the way, this is apparently a common problem and Apple has completely failed to warn in advance or offer a quick straightforward solution - used to be a good company, but it's becoming just another crappy screw-the-consumer corporation.
It would help to know versions here. I'm guessing your update put an older version of something into a place where a newer version of something iTunes put in there existed. Updating an earlier OSX version to 10.6.8 is still only updating to system software that was issued several years ago. If you are running some slightly newer version of iTunes issued subsequent to 10.6.8 and you just updated to 10.6.8 you may have put in an older version of something iTunes uses. Anyway, I'm guessing here until we know exactly what you did.

ITunes won't open after downloading 7.0
My iTunes won't open after downloading 7.0, what should I do?
replying to Robert
I get a Windows error code of 0x666D743F
First see:
iTunes 7 for Windows: iTunes fails to launch with an unknown error
There are some other possibilities
That error has been known to be produced by having Total Recorder or the Volume Logic plug-in installed on the PC.
For a workaround for Total Recorder, see:
chuckieb: One fix for iTunes 7 "0x666D743F" error
To check on the Volume Logic issue, see:

Downloaded latest iTunes update. Now iTunes won't open, and the error message says "You can't open the application iTunes because it is not supported on this type of Mac." I have been using this MAc since 2008. Any suggestions appreciated.

After downloading iTunes will not run, after downloading iTunes will not run
after downloading iTunes it will not run on my pc in order for me to install it.

No errors it just stops running. Even if I download to save, it doesn't save anything in my folder.
Are you able to successfully download an installer if you use Firefox instead of IE or vice versa? (Firefox handles network/internet connections differently from other browsers, so an issue in IE can sometimes be overcome by using Firefox or vice versa.) -

Itunes won't run since downloaded 7.2
itunes was working fine until I installed 7.2 now it says "can't run due to a problem with audio configuration. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and it did the same thing. Now I have lost everything I have on itunes.
can't run due to a problem with audio configuration
that's typically caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (iTunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)

Millions of people use this software. How can these problems exist?
I am sick of the the compatibility problems and all the other crap.
I am sick of the software locking up as soon as it starts up - not responding messages,
I have spent hours - installing, uninstalling, reading all this help - nothing helps!!!
I AM FRUSTRATED BEYOND BELIEF. What do I do now.
I need this software so that I can synch and back up my contacts.
Perhaps what I really need is a different smart phone. Any suggestions?

Firefox won't run after downloading says "File is Corrupt:
I currently use IE and want to switch to Firefox. I click download and run and wait for download to finish.. It says the Fi;e Is corrrupt and ends after the download is complete I have saved the Exec and tried to start it from there with the same results.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
*Firefox 10.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
You may have to disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work or only the real-time (live) scanning of files.
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Itunes won't open after download!!!!!!!
Well when i opened up my itunes a window popped up asking me if I would like to upgrade to Itunes 7.6.1....I decided to do it and it worked perfectly....LAter on I closed down itunes only to realise i could no longer open it!!!...The following message came up in another window "Quick time failed to initialise (error -2096).Quick time is required to run itunes. Please re-install itunes)...I then went on to install Itunes again only to be greeted with the message that the library of songs was not compatible....i updated itunes to where it was prior to the problem but the same message appeared...Can anyone help me??????It would be preferable not to lose all my music as i have done once already in the past 4 months...Any advice welcome PLEASE????
This is not much help but exactly the same thing happened to me after responding to the request to upgrade to 7.6.1. The upgrade went fine. Although I don't get any error messages Itunes simply doesn't load. I also would prefer not to lose 4gb of music that I have compiled over the last year. What is the matter wiith this upgrade? Is there any Apple support on this thread?

Itunes won't run after upgrade
I upgraded to the latest iTunes (10.6), but when I click on the icon I get an error message that says it can't open my iTunes library because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. How is that even possible if I just upgraded?
Now I can't get it to open at all, even after uninstalling/installing and restarting several times.
Please help! When I install the latest iTunes it will not run the application even though the process is running.
I'm more familiar with trying to fix this sort of thing on XP, rather than 7 (or even Vista), but there's a few basic things we should check on.
Reboot the PC (to kill your running iTunes.exe process as naturally as possible). Now head into your firewall, and check the rules. Is iTunes being allowed full access to the Internet? If not amend the rule. If it is, try deleting the existing rule and creating a new one (allowing full access to the internet) for iTunes.
Having done that, reboot the PC and try launching iTunes again. Any better luck this time? -
ITunes won't open after downloading version 8.0.2
I downloaded the 8.0.2 version of iTunes on Nov 25 and ever since I have not been able to open iTunes. Every time I try I get "The application iTunes quit unexpectedly". If I click relaunch the same message pops up. Reporting it to Apple does nothing and clicking Ignore does nothing. Even when I connect my iPod touch I get the same message.
I don't know what to do to make it work again and I'm getting really frustrated.
Please Help!I have had the same problem - I have uninstalled iTunes per the proper approach - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224 - after having used Disk Utility and getting rid of the preferences. Still no joy. It is a mixed blessing to find others out there with the same problem but no solution. We all seem to need help.
Curious thing is, if I go back to iTunes 6, it works!
