ITunes won't see Apple TV

So I have my Apple TV 3 and iTunes on windows open. I want to AirPlay to stream my music and movies to the TV, but there is no AirPlay icon anyhwere. Where is it and how can I AirPlay to the TV?

I've tried everything and iTunes just will not see my ATV.... Everything was working fine until the first time I downloaded a movie from iTunes and whilst watching a movie...
ATV locked up and I've gone through every possible combination of recommended fixes with absolutely zilch results.... iTunes just does not see ATV.
However.... ATV sees the internet and I can play radio, film previews etc.... but just can not get to iTunes any longer.
Would appreciate any guidance before the ATV finds itself winging it's way out the window....

ITunes device list won't see Apple TV

I bought Apple TV today and despite working my way through all of the troubleshooting tips, iTunes refuses to see Apple TV in the devices list. It's very disheartening and I don't know what to do next. Have done everything including reconfiguring my router, reinstalling iTunes, powering down everything, restarting my Mac multiple times etc. etc. Does anyone have any suggestions? The Apple TV is working just fine with my router (eg. I can access the internet). It's the link with iTunes on my Powerbook that seems to be the problem.

ITunes won't see iPhone but sees it in iPhoto

iTunes won't see iPhone but sees it in iPhoto. The iTunes doesn't show a "Devices" title in the side window. Any information on how to fix this problem. Would like to start using iCal and sync the iPhone 4s using iTunes (etc.)

ITunes won't see all Aperture photos

I have a rather large Aperture photo library (30,000 photos), and I like to view various groups of photos on my iPod Touch and also on my Apple TV. In both cases, however, iTunes won't let me choose all of the available projects and albums. In some instances, it will recognize the album but won't see any photos. In this particular scenario, the album has about 1500 photos of jpeg and Canon Raw types. Is this a known problem or am I configuring Aperture albums incorrectly for iTunes compatibility?
I have Aperture 2.0.1, Leopard and iTunes 7.6.1. The iPod Touch is at 1.1.4 and Apple TV is running 2.0 of the OS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Somewhat similar issue here. No new photos are being added to the iPhone via iTunes sync and iTunes does not seem to update itself with the Aperture library at all. I have photos in the "Last Week" smart album in Aperture (empty) while the iPhone displays 57 photos that are now pushing a month old.
The problem is exactly the same with the sync to Apple TV, so I figure the common link (iTunes) is likely the culprit -- though I guess it's possible that Aperture is not sharing the info with iTunes.
The problem seemed to have appeared with iTunes 7.6 and persists with 7.7.1. and with the most-recent Aperture update.
I completely trashed the .plist files for iTunes a week or so ago to no avail.

ITunes won't open ; Apple software update error

When I double click iTunes, the computer thinks briefly (hourglass) then does nothing. iTunes won't load.
QuickTime Player opens fine.
But Apple Software Update now gives me a strange error message.
Anybody know how to interpret it? Might it be linked to my iTunes not loading?

I'm having similar issues on PC Windows Ultimate 7 32bit. Husband tells me iTunes updated last night on both his and my laptops (same OS), without asking for confirmation, which I thought was unusual. Tried opening iTunes various times today and no response. Restarted and still no improvement.
Tried repairing and uninstalling iTunes, very slow and glitchy but eventually seemed to have got rid of the software. Downloaded most recent installer link from Apple website and attempted reinstall, but it didn't get past the empty-barred status window.
Aborted and found an old installer from earlier back-up - version 10.2 something. Install appeared to run smoothly but I still can't actually open iTunes.
Any help appreciated as we now have two laptops that won't shut down properly (seems they think iTunes is still running, even though we can't access it or close it in Task Manager), 2 iPhone 4s and an iPad that we can't use properly!

I can sign in to the Apple website and this forum, but iTunes won't recognize my apple ID. Any suggestions?

After I logged into this forum, the store recognized my ID. Not sure what happened. I had been able to log into all of these places before without access to iTunes... Oh, well... Seems all is working for now... I am brand new to this, so I will likely be back. THanks!

ITunes won't see the iPhone

I just purchased a MAcbook Pro, running Leopard 10.5, and iTunes 8.02. I already have an iPhone 3G, running OS 2.2. Everything worked fine when I sync'd it with my PC. Now that I have a Mac, I'd like to sync it with this, but iTunes won't acknowledge that the iPhone exists - or at least that it is connected to the Mac. I have tried both USB ports, and the result is the same. I have used the USB ports for other things, like connecting jump drives, and they seem to work.
I have tried restarting the iPhone, no change.
Any suggestions?

Check System Preferences > Accounts, click your username then the Login Items tab - is iTunesHelper present? If not, that's the problem. Download iTunes from the link below and run the installer (no need to delete anything first).

It sounds like you may be connecting your Apple TV to a computer in order to restore it using iTunes.
If the Apple TV doesn't appear in iTunes, start with these troubleshooting tips:
Some micro-USB cables that are bundled with products or accessories may only support charging those products (and not transmitting data) or they may work only with the product with which they were sold. Using one of these cables to restore your Apple TV may cause the issues above.
To resolve these issues, please try these basic restore steps first. If the issue persists, continue with the following advanced troubleshooting steps.
Temporarily disconnect any unnecessary USB devices from your computer, leaving only your Apple TV, the micro-USB cable, and a keyboard and mouse, if necessary.
Restart your computer and try to restore again.

Retrieved old app from Time Machine, but iTunes won't see it

I'm running 10.6.1. iTunes 9, iPhone 3.1. I'm trying to revert to an older version of an app. I retrieved the older app from Time Machine and I can see it in Finder in my iTunes/Mobile Applications folder. iTunes doesn't see it though. Is there a way to make iTunes see it?

I just discovered that I have to import the reverted app's file into my iTunes Library (File -> Add To Library). Nevermind.

ITunes won't see iPhone or iPod. Apple TV sync's fine

My iTunes stopped recognizing my iPhone and iPod touch. I've rebooted both devices, done a restart on both devices. Rebooted my MacBook. Done every combination of the above. Downloaded/Reinstalled iTunes.

iPhone 5.0.1 (3GS) - Upgrading to 4s tomorrow.
iPod Touch 4.2.1
I've used both USB ports. Multiple sync cables. Both devices will charge. I'm just worried I'm going to plug in my 4s and I'll have the same problem. And, how to fix the iPod toch.

I'm using a mini usb cord, power plug not plugged in.
I keep re-opening Itunes(lastest version) but the Apple TV (2Gen) isn't showing up anywhere.

If your Mac and Apple TV are on the same network, but no AirPlay Mirroring menu appears, your Apple TV may be asleep. Simply press a button on your Apple TV remote to wake it up. After a few seconds, the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra appears. If you still don't see the options you expect, make sure your Apple TV has the currentsoftware update installed. Also make sure that you have the "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" option selected in the Displays pane of System Preferences.

I have iTunes 10 and iPhoto 8 (7.1.5). i want sync my iPod Touch with one of my iPhoto libraries, but it will not see the library that is open in iPhoto. How do i force iTunes to see the iPhoto library.

ITunes won't see Airtunes Speakers

My iTunes 6.0.1 no longer sees the speakers connected to my Airport Express.
I have both a Mac and a PC, and the Mac can see the speakers, but the PC can't!
The PC is running Windows XP Professional with Bonjour networking installed.

Had same problem and went through an hour-long diagnostic with Apple support, reinstalled all software etc. After sitting and thinking about it, I removed the security from my wirelessrouter, made sure all wireless devices had the same WEP key and then restarted WEP security on the router. Instant fix and praobably didn't need all the wasted time on re-installs !!

Fixed! - iTunes can't see Apple TV

I haven't posted for help on this, however I saw several posts with the same problem where people reported back it was fixed but not how they fixed it.
In my case... I ran the Airport Utility, originally to see if I could see it or if there was a setting for it, there wasn't so I cancelled without a restart of the Airport and that was enough to wake the Airport up to see the Apple TV.
Also make sure that Sharing is turned on and that Look for Apple TV is checked in iTunes prefs.

ITunes won't see/play music on iPhone

Folks: Tried searching the discussions database before posting this but maybe I'M the only idiot facing this problem...
My iPod crashed, so in the meantime I figured I'd use my iPhone. Hooked it to my computer, recongized it fine, Music, audiobooks seemed to transfer to my iPhone fine (I can see them AND play them through tghe iPhone from my computer in iTunes) BUT -
Anytime I go to my iPhone on its own - disconnected from my computer - and launch iTunes, all I get is Store information. I cannot seem to locate ANYTHING I transferred (and I KNOW is on the phone) using iTunes. If I go to "More" as a control and try to launch "Configure" everything is blacked out and I cannot reconfigure anything. It seems like iTunes on my iPhone won't recognize anything I transferred.

Well, sirprise. Apparently iPhones don't use iTunes to play audio. There's an app called just "Music" that acts like an iTunes app...
