ITunes won't show info on the iPod menu.

All the buttons, pulldowns, playlists, and menus are blank. The iPod will sync, but I cannot see any of the options to adjust how it syncs.  I beleive it is a 3rd Gen Nano.

I have since uninstalled iTunes, deleted every Apple program from my computer and reinstalled iTunes.  I am still not seeing the words on the screen.
Could this be from having a 3rd gen iPod with the newest iTunes software.

  • Every time i try to sync my 4th gen ipod touch itunes won't recognise it and the ipod keeps beeping - is there anything I can do?

    This is really frustrating.  Every time i try to sync my 4th gen ipod touch itunes won't recognise it and the ipod keeps beeping - is there anything I can do? I've tried using different cables. Itunes works fine with my family members ipod's & iphones...

     The best way to manage your music when you have multiple iPods is to change the settings under "Options" so that you manually manage your music instead of it doing an automatic synch each time you connect.  To add only the songs you want, highlight them and then "click and drag" them to your iPod.  This way none of your daughter's music gets added and you're not in danger of deleting your playlist as well.  It will show you how many songs you've added and you can then click on your iPod to verify.  To delete her songs off your iPod now, click on the music tab under your iPod so show everything you have stored.  Find those songs you want to delete, click on them to highlight then go up to the Edit window and click delete. This will erase them off your iPod but be careful when you highlight.  I did that and then had to reload a cd on my boyfriend's, lol. hope this helps

  • How can the album-art, which is all in iTunes , suddenly only shows partially on the iPod classic 160 gb?

    I'm user of iTunes for years and in possession of 2 iPod classics.
    For both iPods I have a specific playlist created, which I sync with iTunes. Each of my nearly 50,000 tracks in iTunes comes with the right Album-art (all 500 x 500 pixels and 72 dpi) andeach track contains also the necessary meta data and is converted to 160 or 192 kbps  M4a. In Finder on my MacBook I can see that the M4a files all contain album-art, because the file icons show the album art for each file name! Also in the grid overview of iTunes you can see them all, no exception.
    For years that went well. Now,  a week ago, I made a new playlist (16,000 tracks) for one of my iPod classics because I wanted a different content! The old playlist I discarded and synchronized the new one.  Now it appears that a large number of album-art on the iPod is not shown, nor in cover-flow nor during play-back. I then tried to get my new playlist updated by exported as XML and then imported into iTunes again. In that case all tracks from the list are checked for completeness against the library and after import it should be fine. Unfortunately, it is not the case. Still the album-art is not shown for all tracks/albums on the iPod.
    I run iTunes (11.2.2 (3)) on a MacBook Pro at the end of 2009, with the latest OSX version (10.9.3) and with enough disk space and memory.
    My iTunes library is on a NAS (Synodisk DS209J II plus) the iPods run on the latest sw version (1.1.2) and are both Apple formatted.
    I wonder if this is an iPod error or something wrong with the library. I hope you will understand, that I do not want to lose all the metadata of the 50,000 tracks by rebuilding the library, especially things like: date added, number of times played, rating, comments!
    I hope someone can provide me an acceptable solution.
    With regards, Sign-X

    I'm a bit confused, but I assume you want to shuffle your playlist while you are playing it in iTunes. If this is so, you will actually have to start playing a song before the shuffle button appears, and it appears in the top center panel of your iTunes window. Yeah, I know...

  • Itunes won't show iphone in the source list, other problems too

    Hi, I am having 3 huge problems with my iTunes.
    First, when I plug my iphone in, it charges and the computer recognizes it, but it doesn't show up in the list.
    Also, it for some reason starts on itunes store, every time. I want it to start on the music list like it used to.
    Last, it constantly freezes whenever I close a window leaving itunes behind it. So I can't have more than one window open when using it.
    I first uninstalled itunes completely, then installed the newest version, then updated my drivers. I have done everything on this list:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495
    Here are my computer details:
    Manufacturer: Lenovo
    Model: 94577hu
    OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    CPU/Ram: 1.828 GHz / 502 MB
    Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family
    Sound Card: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio
    I have no idea what to do now, please help!

    I am by no means an expert on iPhone issues but I recall reading some cables transfer power and others carry data too, and this may be device specific.  I suspect your third party device is designed to simply transfer power.  If it is as you say the issue is one of re-activating Home Sharing and it has to be connected by a data cable then you may be left without solutions unless you subscribe to iTunes Match (in which case you can afford to buy another cable ).
    You can read if Apple has any suggestions:

  • Obm-xdg won't show anything in the Openbox menu [SOLVED]

    I put the code:
    <menu execute="obm-xdg" id="obm-xdg" label="xdg"/>
    in ~/.config/openbox/menu.xml just like it says to do universally. It does not show any menu. Every other menu item in the file works. I can edit them and they change. obmenu can see the entry. gnome-menus is installed. obm-xdg works from the command line. Why does this not show anything in the menu?

    Make sure you add the menu id to the root-menu list at the bottom of menu.xml:
    <menu id="root-menu" label="Openbox 3">
    <separator label="Applications" />
    <menu id="obm-xdg" />
    <menu id="apps-accessories-menu"/>
    <menu id="apps-editors-menu"/>

    When I plug my iPod into the computer, itunes won't come up on the screen and my iPod is not recognized anymore and it use to be. Please help because I can't sync it at all because it won't show up as a device on the right hand side of itunes.

    Try
    iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
    Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
    Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs
    New cable and different USB port?
    Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

    Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
    I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
    There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
    The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
    Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

    The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
    The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
    Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • I added a movie to my iPod, but it won't show up in the videos library! I have to search for it in the search bar!

    So I downloaded a video in mp4 format and added it to iTunes. It shows up in the Home Videos tab and i can play it just fine, but, when i plug my iPod Touch into my pc and let it sync, it doesn't show! When i say this i mean it is ON my ipod, but to get to it i have to search for it in Videos. All that shows up in the library is a Family Guy episode i purchased from itunes a while back and at the top it says "Family Guy" as if it is it's own catagory. There is no back button or any buttons for that matter. Just the search bar and the episode. This is what i get when i launch Videos:
    And to get the video i have to tap the search bar and search it and play it from there

    Do you have any videos/movies in the video app?
    In iTunes if you right click on the video and select Get Info and go to the Option tap what Media Type is shown?

  • Brand new nano: iTunes shows songs on the ipod that the ipod thinks are not

    I first upgraded the firmware on my new 8GB nano, and upgraded my iTunes version, and then uploaded about 4 GB of music.
    But I have this weird bug:
    For a few artists, iTunes correctly shows their songs as being on the ipod, but then when I browse to the artist on my ipod, only 1 of the 3 songs are there. 2 songs are missing, even though iTunes definitely thinks they're on the ipod. I've tried deleting them and reuploading, but they still don't show up on the nano.
    The missing songs are just standard mp3s, and play fine on my computer. There's no difference between the 2 missing ones and the 1 that does show up that I can tell.
    Also, another bug is that the nano is displaying one of my artists twice in the Artist listing, even though the name is exactly identical. This is what is shows:
    The Cruxshadows
    Cruxshadows
    The Cruxshadows
    The 2nd entry is because I have one song which has a different artist name in the ID3 tags. But entries 1 and 3 are exactly identical - clicking on them brings me to the same exact set of songs.
    I never had these bugs with my iPod mini. Are these known bugs in the nano firmware?
      Windows Vista

    "For a few artists, iTunes correctly shows their songs as being on the ipod, but then when I browse to the artist on my ipod,"
    There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
    If tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod
    Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder.

  • ITunes won't show the CD in the library and won't show song titles

    Finally, after about 6 hours I was able to download the new version of iTunes for my daughter's Nano. Now when we load a CD ready to import into iTunes it won't show up in the music library column at all. I had the old iTunes for an iPod mini on another computer - all I did was put the CD in the drive then iTunes would read the song titles and show the CD in the library column, then I'd import and all was good. This version will not show the CD in the library column, I have looked at advanced preferences but can't find out what's going wrong. Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE help? This is very frustrating!!!! I'm supposed to be on holiday and relaxing!!! Happy new year to all you fellow Nano haters!

    Are the CD's you are trying to install store bought CD's?
    What you might try doing if the CD drive is not showing up under the source is going to file and then clicking on Add to Library within iTunes. Find the CD inside of My Computer and trying to add the music.

  • ITunes won't show iPod music

    I was using iTunes today and wanted to put more music on my iPod. I had not yet upgraded to the new iTunes version. When I plugged in the iPod, the name came up as HOME and iTunes wouldn't show any of the music on the iPod. I was worried that the music was deleted, but everything is still there on the iPod, its just iTunes won't recognize that its there. It also seems to think the iPod is 100gb when its only a 30gb model. Its like it went into some factory default mode. The weirdest thing is I can transfer music from iTunes to the iPod and it will show up in iTunes, but not on the iPod. I've tried the iPod R's except Restore because I don't want to do that unless its really necessary since I'd lose everything on it. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
