ITunes won't start. Can't add music.

I recently had a virus on my computer and it as been removed. I just got my computer back and tried to open itunes. When i click the icon a message comes up that says: "iPodService Module (32-bit) stopped working and was closed." And an iTunes message comes up that says: "The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?" When i click Yes, it still does not let me add songs.
My question is: Can I delete iTunes from my computer and reinstall, plug my iPod into the computer and have the songs from the iPod transfer to my computer iTunes library?

Uninstall and reinstall iTunes using the instructions in this Apple support document.

Once you have successfully done that and resolved the error message, you'll want to take a look at this article for different ways you can copy content from your iPod back to your PC because it cannot be done via iTunes. The iTunes sync process is only one way, from iTunes to the iPod.

I have an external drive connected to my mac mini. My itunes library is designated to the external drive insted of my internal drive to save space. When I try to add music to my itunes library it gives me an error stating I do not have permission. How do I work around this?

PLEASE HELP! iTunes won't play/can't find music

I moved my entire iTunes library (the whole folder) over to a external drive, now iTunes can't play or find my music.
I followed every tutorial out there.
First copied itunes folder over, then set the path in itunes to where the music is located.
I even uninstalled itunes, trashed all prefs, etc. then reinstalled the latest version.
still no go.
What am i missing?

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

ITunes-iPod touch problems, can't add music to my iPod

When I plug in my iPod to the computer and start up iTunes, it says it must be set up when it already is. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, but it still says this very same thing. What's going on ?
My iOS is 6.1.3 on a 4th gen iPod touch.
I have 3 cloud backups and 1 iTunes backup available.

Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me. Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

Yes. Import it into the iTunes library, convert it if needed, and sync the iPod with that iTunes library.

Itunes won't start up - can't find usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib

Hi,
I had to reinstall the OS 10.3.9 on my ti-book. I did an archive and install, but now iTunes won't start up. Console says it can't find this dynamic library:
usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib
Since I have a lot of my songs in my personal lib on this machine, and podcast susbscriptions, etc - I don't want to lose them if possible.
Is there a way to just install this lib, or will I have to reinstall iTunes altogheter?
I searched for the above file, but can't find it on the disk.

Do you have any iTunes plugins? You may want to get rid of them and try again.
Also, have you tried removing the corresponding com.apple.itunes.plist files from <youraccount>/Library/Preferences, logging out, logging back in again (or rebooting) and then relaunching iTunes? I don't think an archive and install will refresh this file for you. Nor will reinstalling iTunes.

I can't add music files to iTunes

Since 10.4 I can't add music files to iTunes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
iTunes seems to scan and add them in gray, but fails to add the files to iTunes.

The sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

After updating to iOS 7, I can't add music to my 4S.

I had no problems upgrading to iOS 7 yesterday, but afterwards I couldn't add music to my phone. I add everything manually, and tried to add an album last night, but when I dragged the album over to my phone, it just blinked twice and then the album sat on my iPhone unsynced. Then today, after plugging my phone in to my computer, iTunes sat on "Waiting for changes to be applied." I figured this is what was keeping my music from syncing onto my phone, so I looked up some solutions (none worked) and the only thing that happened was all of my music on my phone got deleted for whatever reason.
I still can't add music and this is what happens every time I try to add any song to my phone:
I really don't want to have to restore my phone to factory default, although I'm thinking that is what I'm gonna have to do.

I want to add music with a PC that I am not allowed to put iTunes software on. Can you put music in the cloud for download onto your iPad (2)?

If iTunes does not recognize the music, the iPad won't recognize it either.
If you have music in a supported format: AAC, MP3, ALAC. You can transfer it to the cloud by subscribing to iTunes match.
