ITunes won't stay minimised

anyone else experiencing iTunes not staying minimised either to the system tray or the taskbar in Vista? .. I keep minimising it and it keeps popping back up again (just when you least expect it) - get's to be quite irritating when you're trying to do other things! .. I've tried repairing and reinstalling iTunes and played around with various settings within iTunes - but now I'm stuck .. any advice?

hey genius .. yes that's cracked it .. thought It might have been somethign to do with the iTunes sidebar gadget at one point (although removing that didn't help either), but completely forgot about my msn live messenger settings. .. shame though - I thought the messenger feature was kinda cool.
thnaks very much

I have the same problem. This problem has shown up and gone away many times over the last couple of years. Its the main reason that I rarely use iTunes.
Have you found a solution? I'm tired of buying MP3s from iTunes and playing them in Windows Media Player

  • Itunes won't stay open.

I recently just updated my Macbook Pro (older version from 2010, 10.6.8), including Itunes. Now I tunes won't stay open. Whenever I click on the icon to start It flashes open but then closes immediately. I recently had my hard drive wiped because of a problem so if that could be a contributing factor I don't know. Itunes was working fine before the update.

  • ITunes won't stay authorized...

Not sure when this started but everytime now I open iTunes and try to play a song, watch a movie or listen to an audiobook, I get the "This computer is not authorized" message. I put in my username and password and then I get "You have authorized 3 out of 5 computers" and then everything will work. The problem is that iTunes will stay authorized until I reboot or start the computer, then open iTunes again. Sure enought, I get the same "not authorized" followed by the "authorized 3 out of 5 computers" message. Then I'm good to go...until I reboot or start my computer after it's been shutdown.
I've tried every step in this article multiple times, and it hasn't helped...http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1389
There is only one account on my computer and it's the admin account. I'm authorizing using my correct iTunes account name and password. Tried turning off and then on, user accouts and have deleted the SC folder...doesn't help at all...Like I said, it seems like I can authorize fine but as soon as I reboot or start my computer and then open iTunes, I'm told it's not authorized again.
Any ideas on how I can keep iTunes authorized? Running Windows 7, 64 bit on a Dell 9100 desktop...
    Thanks,
    Al

Iam also having the same problem, plus I have lost all sound from my player. My computer will play music through windows media etc and still has all system sounds its just itunes.

  • Itunes Won't Stay connected Keep

I keep trying to connect to Itune's and it keep saying to check my internet connection.  I know my internet works so what is going on?

Well, it looks like it's being caused by SSID not being broadcast. As long as I have it broadcasting, all is well, as soon as I disable this, it won't connect after a restart.
This is my second iTouch, the first one had a bunch of dust appear under the glass and the Apple store replaced it no qualms, couldn't be happier My first iTouch didn't act this way and was running the previous version of software. It wasn't until i got a new unit and updated to this version that the issue started.
I have 2 other iTouch's in the home with the older software and they don't have any issues with SSID not being broadcasted.
    Any additional thoughts?

  • ITunes won't stay where I put it

Normally I run iTunes in "minimized" mode (press the "+" button) and toss it all the way at the bottom left of my screen. It fits nicely right next to the dock so I always have it visible in a usually useless area of the screen.
In the past, it would occasionally jump vertically to be above the dock, typically if I opened other "iApps" or used a full screen game, but it would stay close to where I left it and I'd just need to drag it back down. Pressing the "+" button would have it end up where it belonged or just vertical of that spot.
Recently, the last 4-5 days or so, iTunes has decided it doesn't like that corner and more often than not "minimizes" to the exact center of the screen.
There's no pattern to it, just sometimes it stays where it belongs, other times it's right in the center.

My iTunes (8.0.2) recently started centering itself whenever I tried to move or resize it. Quitting and restarting the program seems to have fixed it for now.

  • IPhone not recognized by iTunes, won't stay Off, etc

My iPhone started giving me an error message yesterday (happens about every 30 mins or so) that "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone"
The problem is nothing is connected to the iPhone! Additionally, whenever I connect the phone to my comp, iTunes fails to recognize it. So I can't do a Restore. In fact, it appears that the iPhone doesn't realize it is plugged in.
I was able to charge it from the wall charger last night, so I am pretty sure the connector "works."
Is there a way to reset the phone without using iTunes?
(Yes, I am the original owner. No, it is not jailbroken.)
    Thanks!

I am having a similar problem. I am attempting to install the airport extreme card in my ibook g4. The computer is not recognizing the card and now it isn't recognizing the iphone. If I remove the airport card then itunes recognizes the iphone. I have the original phone with the 2.01 update. I'm stumped.

  • Itunes won't stay closed and keeps opening itself

    Can you help me

I've seen one report of that happening for a person because EyeTV was set to open iTunes when an export was finished.
Could you have some application set to start iTunes after a task is completed?

  • ITunes won't stay closed

Pretty much what the subject says. I close iTunes, and 10(ish) seconds later it just opens up again on its own. I'm not doing anything with it (that I know of), but it just refuses to quit. Input? Thanks!

The latter is supposed to be there - I think it lets iTunes run faster (I saw it on Windows, too, when I used it). As for the iPod thing, I don't know whether or not that is true, but if it has been reported you should try it too. If the setting is on, turn it off, click Apply, and then reproduce your problem.

  • ITunes won't stay working..

iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I get this nifty little popup when I open up iTunes. It only lasts a few minutes before this comes up. I've tried deleting and reinstalling it several times and to no avail. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

Does it launch OK in a windows guest account? That will narrow down whether it's user-specific or system-wide. Then you can follow the troubleshooting steps here

  • ITunes won't open to desktop, stays in taskbar

    Hola all,
My iTunes recently has refused to open on the desktop. It will start when I plug in my iPhone and sync but it stays in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. When I double click it, it won't open to the desk top, just show the minimized player in the taskbar. I've tried closing all iTunes processes and rebooting but still no dice.
Anyone have this happen to you? I've got some songs I purchased from the iTunes store on my phone I'd like to drop into playlists but I can't get iTunes to open on my desktop.
Thanks in advance for your help!

This one might be a damaged iTunes display preference. (Seen similar things happen once or twice to people with the QuickTime Player, and it was a display preference issue there.)
We can check to see if a damaged display preference is afoot by checking to see if this is a systemwide or user account specific issue.
From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
Open Add or remove user accounts
Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process.
Once the new account is created, choose Log Off from the Start menu. Log into the newly created user account. (Don't use Fast User Switching to move between accounts.)
Open iTunes in the new user account. Does the setup assistant run and show you (eventually) a blank library screen? Or does iTunes stay minimised to the Task bar in the new account too?
If iTunes *does not stay minimised* in the new account, the technique you need (to check-on/fix a display preference issue) is described in the "Remove iTunes Preference files" section of the "User-specific troubleshooting" section of the following document:
[iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717]
Before starting out on that, set the PC up to view hidden files and folders, as per the description at the beginning of the "User-specific troubleshooting" section.
    *Some heads-ups before proceeding*
Be careful of any custom preferences (EQ, imports, etc) you have set up. Take a note of those, because rebuilding the relevant prefs returns all such prefs to their default settings. You may need to set up any such preferences all over again.
You may also need to reinstall any third-party plugins afterwards.
Things to expect during the pref file rebuild ... moving one set to the desktop (on XP) causes the setup assistant to run during the rebuild. Avoid saying yes if it asks you to import all the media files on your PC into iTunes. Otherwise, you'll end up duplicating all your content in your iTunes library. Moving the other set of prefs to the desktop (on XP) means that you have to agree to the licence agreement again.

  • My Itunes will not stay open, I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still won't stay open

My Itunes will not stay open. Everytime I open it it just gives me a wait signal and then closes down on it's own. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still won't stay open.... what should I do now?

Try removing the Genius database.  In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

  • ITunes 10.5.2... home sharing won't stay on.

I'll try and cover as much as possible as to not leave anything out
    Equipment
    ATV 2 (4.4.4)
MacBook Pro 13 running iTunes 10.5.2  also fully updated
Telus Optik internet 25 MB Connection
Unrelated things also connected to wifi
    2 iPhones
    1 iPad
    PS3
    1 PC
    Telus DVR (hardwired)
    Everything is running on wireless.
So this use to work fine on my previous iTunes I would open ATV and home sharing was just always an option under the computers tab
Now since updating I open iTunes and home sharing just does't pop up in the tray on the left side but it use to just fine and without fail
The steps I've tried to correct the problem are as follows
I've tried to deauthorize the computer and then re authorize it
I've turned off home sharing and then turning it back on both on the ATV and iTunes (also should note I've done this in different combinations of steps ie. auth then repower then turn on ATV and vice versa etc etc...)
I've also done the above without hitting the done botton after turning home sharing on with iTunes it stays in the tray this way but still won't show up on the ATV, once I hit done it just disappears.
I've tried all the little tips like turn off power saver and all that fun stuff, none of it works.
I've checked all the configs on my firewall and they are set to allow iTunes on any port any connection etc.
I've read countless other threads and user tips to no avail.
I can't downgrade my iTunes back to 10.5.1 because everytime I try to move it to the tray the lion os says it can't be removed.
I can't figure out if this is actually an iTunes issue or an ATV one?
    Anyways
If anyone could assist me or if you're having the same issues perhaps we can work together to find a solution to this problem.
    Thanks J

    I have fixed the issue
    The steps I used were
    1. restore ATV under //settings/general/restore
    2. log out then in with apple id //setting/computers/turn off-on
    3. unplug router for 30 sec
    4. restart macbook with no windows being kept open
    5. when macbook restarts open iTunes
    6. log out then onto home sharing under advanced tab
    7. make sure sharing is enable under //iTunes/preferences/sharing/ then click share my library on local network
    8. it should work after this point and come up in ATV
///side note the sharing tab on iTunes won't show up in the sidebar of iTunes not certain if it's suppose to///
