ITunes won't stop launching

I don't know if this happens every time that Apple has a release but it seems like once they have pushed an update my iTunes goes crazy. It won't stop auto launching at will. It's doing this on all profiles and I do not have this in my auto launch application list. I also already tried to run a permission repair and this did nothing as well. The launchd is the parent service and I thought by force killing it, it might fix the problem. Needless to say that killed my session lol. I checked the permissions on the application and my files and the permissions appeared ok. Any suggestions would be helpful.
P.S. I have deleted the app before and reinstalling it but that doesn't help.

I believe I found the answer from another post. The post mentioned a Bluetooth connection problem. I looked at my Bluetooth item list and noticed that my discoverable option was on and I turned it off. I also noticed that my Bluetooth connected printer was also unavailable and think that this was the root cause.

  • Installed 4.9... now iTunes won't even launch

Okay.... here it is: I downloaded and installed 4.9 and now when I click on the iTunes shortcut on my desktop, iTunes won't even launch. In addition, my laptop won't even shut down properly now. I get a bizarre error message and it hangs for 4 or 5 minutes (despite the fact that I try to End Program over and over again). I have had to take the battery out to shut it down because of all this. More important, I can't access my iTunes!
    thanks,
    P.

Try using the "Clean' method for uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes. See Da Gohpa's link, toonz' link, as well as all the related links and activities provided below.
You may first want to try a “Repair Install”:
    - Start menu -> Settings -> Control Panels -> Add or Remove Programs
    - Select iTunes, Select Change/Remove button, Select "Repair", Click OK.
If that does not work, then read all the below and apply it to your situation:

b Uninstalling iTunes will not erase your music files,
or the two meta-data files iTunes uses to store your music info files (iTunes 4 Music Library.itl & iTunes Music Library.xml). However, it is
    i always
a prudent idea to have backups of your music files on some external source (CD, DVD or External Hard Drive).
b Prior to implementing the info in the links above,
close ALL running programs. In addition, you
    b should
    i temporarily
disable any TSR programs like firewalls, virus scanners, spy sweepers and the like. You will need to disable them both before uninstalling ANY software and/or before installing ANY software. Most of these TSR programs have System Tray Icons (usually located in the lower-right corner of your XP screen), that allow for an ‘exit’ or ‘quit’ or ‘shutdown’. Usually a single right-click on the icon will bring up a selection menu.
These TSR programs can impede installation of some software or create conflicts later on during operation (or lack of operation) Some anecdotal reports suggest that iTunes 4.8 & 4.9 are affected. Based on the amount of success by folks here who have tried the Clean Install, this seems to be a good solution for a variety of iTunes operational ‘glitches’
Please note that your TSR programs will all restart upon reboot. You will not be left unprotected. This also means that you need to remember to disable them when reinstalling iTunes after rebooting.
    b Also:
You may still need to turn off the 'Fast User Switching' even if no one else is using the computer.
==>Start/Control Panel/User Accounts/Change the way users log on and off/ ==> remove the check mark from FUS.

  • Color wheel in itunes won't stop after syncing to my phone.  Help!

I synced my iphone to my MacBook Pro last night and the color wheel still won't stop or disappear.  Why does it do this and what can I do to make it stop? Does it have anything to do with iPhoto?

I moved the app and Library; I ended up removed all iTunes stuff(except) Library and reinstalled it. It now starts fresh....transferred stuff over however......I can't sync my iPhone...it says there another Library already synced....how do I know which one, I have a few(my fault).
Can I get these cleaned up somehow?
    thanks!

  • ITunes doesn't stop launching

Please help. iTunes keeps on launching for no reason.

I think someone else raised this issue today. They had an iTunes widget on their dashboard, and deactivating the widget stopped it from opening iTunes.

  • ATV in Itunes won't stop syncing...

ATV still works but when Sync started this day it has been going on for an hour and won't complete sync????!!!
What's the solution? preferences? delete ATV from Itunes and reapply?

Tech support came through for me on this issue...
    Go to this link
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3180?viewlocale=en_US
Restart the ATV per the link instructions and run diagnostics then restart. Sync should return to normal as mine did....

  • ITunes won't stop downloading TV shows

Last December I was going on vacation and began downloading the entire season of Pan-Am. After watching one episode, I decided to stop the downloads. Ever since, every time I connect my iPhone to my laptop or even just start iTunes, it continues to try downloading the episodes. I have deleted the episodes, I have gone into the iTunes folder and deleted them, and nothing has worked. I cannot stop downloading them! I pause them every time I open it, but I would like to stop completely.

This did not work for me.
    Nothing works for me.
Sometimes when I load iTunes, it tries to automatically download all sorts of TV shows I purchased.
Even Season 2 episodes of Dexter I watched long ago.
Not every time.  Maybe every other time?  Or every third time I load iTunes.
It seems so arbitrary, that I think it's seriously trying to mess with me.
It also happens when I select "Check for Available Downloads" --
I don't have a good enough internet connection to download 57 gigabytes worth of TV I don't want to watch.
Even if I delete Dexter from iCloud.
Even if I pause the downloads and mark them as watched.
    Nothing works.
    Dexter will not go away.
    I want to murder iTunes.

  • Itunes won't auto launch when iPhone 3gs is conncected

Hi there. My itunes on my MacBook Pro was working fine - it can sync and launch when my iPhones 3gs connected to it. But, it doesn't after I updated the iTunes to version 9.2.
It doesn't detect my iPhone or iPod when it's connect to my MacBook Pro. (despite of unlimited reinstalling my os x and reinstalling of my iTunes. It's only I did a proper uninstall my iTunes (following the apple's instruction), then it could detect my iPhone.
Now, it doesn't auto launch whenever I've connected my iPhone to my MacBook Pro. In iTunes' Preference, the option on 'Prevent iPods, iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically is "unchecked'. Why???

when your iPhone is connected, go to the summary tab. there should be this option

  • ITunes Won't Stop Reopening

Since installing iTunes 7.7, my iTunes restarts about a minute after closing. I have now been trying to shut the program for an hour to no avail.
The only thing I thought might be causing this is the Last FM application. However, even when the application is exited before closing iTunes, iTunes still reopens.
According to Last FM, all their software is up-to-date and there have been no posts about this issue on their forum since iTunes 7.7 became available.
It's deeply annoying to have to reboot my computer every time I quit iTunes, not to mention dangerous: I've 12,000 tracks in iTunes and therefore the save procedure takes about the same time as it does for my machine to power down, thus risking the corruption of the library.
    Any ideas?

I have been experiencing the same problem on my iMac. I don't have Last FM - this is a used computer but it has been re-imaged and contains only the OS, iLife, and FirstClass (an email and web info program for schools). I didn't have the problem before upgrading to 7.7.1. (I've also had trouble with it not playing my music, but I may have gotten that fixed. I'm not sure when I will believe it is fixed, since it had been "fixed" previously and within days it stopped working again.) The only thing I can think of to help you is to tell you that if you have any iTunes related widgets, they will make iTunes reopen. I HAD some, have deleted them and emptied my trash but am still having the problem, so I think there's more to it. Good luck and let me know if you find a solution.

  • ITunes won't stop creating duplicates and triplicates in my library!

My issue is that iTunes is creating duplicates of my songs. Over and over and over again. I have the preferences set so that it is saving everything in one folder, etc. It still happens. In fact, not only are there duplicates, there are 4 and 5 copies of songs. I've gone and deleted the duplicates, and then when I go to play the remaining file out of the library, it says it can't find it.....it's really bizarre. At first it wasn't that big of a deal, but now I have several gigs of hard drive space taken up by duplicate songs. It's a nightmare.
Here's some additional info about my setup; I hope this helps.
    Windows XP Home OS
iTunes version 7.7 (was also happening with previous versions)
I store all of my music on an external Maxtor USB hard drive
I periodically sync my iPod classic
    I occasionally use Airtunes
    Please help! Anybody?!?!

did you ever figure this one out? my album folders contain one set of duplicate music files in them. glad it's only one set of duplicates at this point, but that's still double the pain in the a**.
i could spend an hour or two "fixing" this, but i dont want it to happen again...

  • ITunes Won't Stop Shuffling!

I have the latest desktop version of iTunes (11.1.3 (8) ) and I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.5.  For the last couple of months (I can't remember which update), iTunes has been shuffling within albums any time I play music.  It's very frustrating.  I have shuffle turned off.  If I turn it on, I can shuffle within Artist, Playlist, etc. - as it is supposed to do.  However, I can't turn it off!  Does anyone have any suggestions?
(In the "Control" menu, it's off - it Reads "Turn On Shuffle")
(The little shuffle icon is grey, not blue)

I'm not sure regarding OSX 10.8 + as I still run production machines on 10.6.8 but, I still have the same itunes version apperantly as you do through updates.
I noticed the same problems with shuffle not turning off but, after some thought I realized I had my mobile phone plugged in recharging on the computer. I also had shuffle turnrd off in iTunes and songs continued to shuffle! SMH
I did some quick testing and found:
1: When I ahut down iTunes, unpluged the mobile phone (running IOS btw), restarted iTunes there was no shuffle of songs! Yea!
2: I then looked at the iphone and where they used to have turn shuffle on or off of course wasnt there any more, only thing was that they had shake to shuffle in the music settings. I flipped the switch, plugged the iphone back in and restarted iTunes. Guess what???? No songs shuffled within iTunes! Hurray!
So apperantly it seems iTunes may be over ridden by device settings if their plugged in at the same time while trying to play ones iTunes..... smh
Check to see if this might be your scenario or not. I think I had even tried to go into the iTunes preferences or plist a while back and turn the code from true to off but that was a while ago also and it did not work anyway when I have a mobile device plugged in for recharging while iTunes was open.

  • IPad iTunes won't stop scrolling.

Gen 3 iPad. iTunes music just keeps scrolling when a specific artist/album is selected. It will play all the music on shuffle, but not if a specific album/artist is selected.

  • ITunes Won't Stop Opening .wav files...

I want Quicktime to me the only app on my MacBook to open .wav files. I've got the MIME association checked in my Quicktime, but every time I go to open a .wav file, iTunes is the app that loads and plays the file.
Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks

I have a computer (my boss' of course...) that keeps grabbing .wav files with iTunes. You can do the obvious trick from Finder of Open With (QT), and Change All and it works fine. It might even work fine through one reboot. But certainly by the time he reboots twice, itunes has grabbed them all back again. AIEEEE!!! Anywhere else I'm missing to fix this?
It's a Mac pro 3.0 quad core, latest version of Leopard, etc.

  • ITunes won't stop synching when completed

Ever since I started using my new MacBook, my 5th gen iPod won't automatically disengage when it is done synching. I have to press one of the eject buttons to do it manually.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Doug
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Check your preferences and make sure that your iPod is not enabled for disk use. Connect your iPod and in when it appears in the source list click on it to see the preferences pane. In the "Summary" tab see if there is a tick in the box “enable disk use". Remove the tick from "enable disk use" and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.

  • Itunes won't stop downloading duplicates

After the most recent update for my iPad (ios7.1.1), iTunes on my macbook pro suddenly started downloading all my tv shows again so that I have duplicates and used a huge amount of bandwidth.  Auto downloading was already unchecked and I unchecked everything else that looked like an autodownload.  All of my auto syncs are turned off so I manually add things to the iPad.
My Macbook has started to grouse that the startup disk is full.  I have tried removing duplicates and iTunes immediately started redownloading.  I removed all the files to the trash, but I can't delete them from trash except one by one and it takes ages.
Anyone have this problem and have an Idea about what to do?
